Due to comments he made on this thread, http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2766898/posts Robroys posting priviledges have been revoked. Since he began his membership in 1998 he has made a lot of friends here, many of whom were expecting freepmail once we got to our place in Kentucky. There are also some here who he worked with in the past in the real world. And his only connection to these people now is freerepublic and freepmail.
Therefore, if you would like to stay in touch with him, his "special" new email address is robroysjunk@gmail.com. Its an account he set up separate from all others to preserve anonymity when necessary.
Rob told me, as he likes to say, "two things": 1. He really enjoyed this site, maybe too much and 2. Getting revoked is very much like being a ghost. You are there, but it takes all your mental strength just to push a penny up a door. It's frustrating, so the best thing to do is quit haunting the place.
He really loves analogies and a flawed one seems to have been his undoing.
And he told me to say, "So long and thanks for all the fish!"
The condescension toward women was a standard element, and very tiresome.
Men have “passion,” women get “hysterical.” Yeah, right!
I'll have to add that to the list:
So you are prejudice against Sicilians huh!?!?!
[just kidding]
But then again, sometimes salty language can shock another person into reality. It should be used with wit and intelligence, not gross stupidity. (I’m guilty of bad language too!)
proxy-opus.
There were a fair number of them who seemed to deliberately provoke banning as well.
I once yelled at a Sicilian girl of about 8 in Palermo who was up to no good. Believe me, I won’t be doing THAT again.
Exactly. Men are always logical, women are always emotional. Men are hard-hearted and self-absorbed, women are gushy bleeding-hearts with no sense of boundaries. And isn’t that sweeeeet ... ?
If he and his family are happy, I’m happy for them, but from a personal standpoint, this is one poster off my “Never Respond To” list.
My husband’s stepmother and her family are from Palermo. Good gravy, those people are *vivid*! Great cooking, though. “Eat more, you have to eat more. It not good for da baby for you to be da skinny!” (When you look like an eggplant, it’s nice to have someone think you’re skinny ... ;-).
Some of the most intelligent and calm discussions I’ve had on FR involve women. When we were active on the Casey Anthony trial, how many men told us we were jealous of the beautious (gag me!) lady murderess? How many men became totally hysterical when we claimed she was guilty as hell? Seriously, it really was disturbing. That said, there are plenty of great guys here. Usually they email me privately to apologize for stupid things that are said here.
I don't like this one at all.
Ha! My husband has family in Sicily. They are great - but, yes, highly charged. They are soooooo very generous with food and drink. And they are so careful in how they prepare and serve it. An amazing people.
You have a list? Am I on that for some reason? I can get ramped up and torqued sometimes, especially about NWO and Islamic subjects.
I don’t have a list, even though I roll my eyes at some posters.
That said, Saturday nights are no holds barred threads. The best one I ever saw was started by a guy who knew he was drunk. That was wild. And funny.
Saw that and was hoping there had maybe been a previous track record taken into account. If not, we’re all human and can make mistakes, including JR. And Robroy.
Yes, there are many very fine men here, some of them highly expert in very interesting fields of endeavor. I don’t mind being told that whatever I’ve posted was incorrect or didn’t make sense, but, “You’re a woman, and therefore you ...” isn’t useful argument.
He fell into the classic trap. Replying to people deliberately twisting what you say.

What he did was to get snippy with a FReeper who is also a moderator.
Bad move. Even worse than his pro-pedo remarks. Well, not really. But you can understand; pi$$ off the wrong person, they call the boss, next thing you know - you’re zotted.
I read the thread. Rob’s post #16 was easy enough to understand the nuance of his point. Problem was he was trying to have a discussion while others just responded with emotion. His mistake was responding to the emotions. He got snipered by supposedly friendly fire. My condolences.
Let's not say "prejudiced" but instead say "have a healthy respect for their ability to cut you to ribbons".
