As we enter the GOP primary season, I'm starting to notice more and more an annoying trend here in FR. It seems as though everytime there's an article, or someone posts a comment about Romney, either pro or con, it nearly always devolves into an extended, and acrimonious discussion about the Mormon faith. Those who defend it, and those who, for whatever reasons, can't abide it, both sides seem determined to wage an "end of times" batte on all the FR threads. Frankly, I'm tired of it, and just wish it would stop. I think that probably 99% of others here feel the same way.
Rudy Giuliani.
What about comments about sisters and moose?
Bishop Mitt Romney has already said that Muslims won’t serve in his cabinet.
Anything about a candidate running for office is political. Sorry. If it delves into their faith that’s still a part of them. We do not compartmentalize things like liberasl do and say their personal life has nothing to do with their political life.
That’s BS and we all know that.
I think people ought to be able to discuss any component of a political candidate. If it seems that the discussion is shifting off the candidate too much the mods can feel free to shift the focus.
freerepublic is a pro-God site, it might not be a Mitt Romney will someday be a God site.
Also, since Evangelicals are the heart of conservatism in America it would make little sense to attack them here at FR wouldn't it, democratunderground where the anti-Evangelical atheists are, is where that would be popular and make sense.
That's alright, you don't have to donate to post here.
You were responding to this:
There are people on here who can think of nothing but bashing Mormons. Theyre fanatics... But they come here and inflict their ignorance on those of us just wanting to discuss current affairs, politics, economics and the elections rather than going where that kind of bigotry is wanted, pathetically.
I doubt you will find many, if any, who “can think of nothing but bashing Mormons”
Most of them do spend time exposing the non Christian belief system of Mormonism.
(And then are accused of hating Mormons, many times quite viciously)
Which is described above as “inflict(ing) their ignorance on those of us...”
Interesting.
Romney’s great-great grandfather, Parley Pratt, was an original apostle in the church,
EVERYTHING ROMNEY DOES IS INSIDE THE LIMITS OF POLITICAL DISCOURSE AS HE HAS REPEATEDLY PROCLAIMED HIMSELF THE PROUD DESCENDANT OF THE ORIGINAL CULT LEADERS.
Nothing, ever, under any circumstances, will change that.
Hey, I’d cross the bridge if it was a dispute between Chinese Methodists and Japanese Baptists! (George C. Wallace).
freerepublic is a “bible thumper” site.
As the owner says, “FR is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-marriage, pro-military, pro-traditional American conservatism and it is a privilege to post here.”
Do not bring Mitt Romney to FR!! FUMR!!
Mormon? Did you say Mormon? Don’t you realize saying Mormon here on FR is akin to plugging in a bug zapper in Arkansas?
I chalked that up to the differences of social class, recency of immigration (some of the RCs had family ties going back to the first half dozen boats), and family occupation.
My best buddies in my permanent duty station in the Army were mostly Sicilian ~ probably because I grew up around some Sicilians and could understand the worst accent in English.
People do select the beliefs of importance to themselves, and Christianity in all its numerous manifestations has plenty of beliefs of importance. As far as the Pratts and my people are concerned, they excommunicated them!
That is not Christian?
Mormons believe in a different jesus, one that is the brother of satan.
And conceived differently than is explained in the Bible.
Plus the founder of Mormonism declared that all Christian denomoninations were an abomination to God and that he was to start a truly “christian” church. Of which no Christians were qualified as he had condemned all of them in his sweeping “revelation.”
You can be pro God without being a scripture quoting parrot.I do not equate pro God and bible thumping zealots.Bible thumpers wear thier faith on thier sleeve like ornaments on a tree.
The Romney family came to America (as Mormons already), to serve the cult at it’s core, this was in the 1840s.
Agreed. I have closed a number of threads when it began the devolution process.
There is no other interpretation of your attacks on Christians possible, except that you are anti-Christian.
No wonder you showed up on a thread about the Bishop and his Mormonism to bash Christian freepers.
“It seems as though everytime there’s an article, or someone posts a comment about Romney, either pro or con, it nearly always devolves into an extended, and acrimonious discussion about the Mormon faith”
One can go to the trouble to build an elaborate shroud around an elephant to conceal it, but the reality is that the elephant is still there.
Like it or not, Romney’s faith _is_ going to become an issue in the campaign, especially among Christian fundamentalist voters, upon whom the Republicans depend.
Should we hide that fact and deny that it’s there?
Or.....?
Just askin’....
no
