Can we please keep comments about the Mormon faith off the political discussion threads?
one man's opinion...

As we enter the GOP primary season, I'm starting to notice more and more an annoying trend here in FR. It seems as though everytime there's an article, or someone posts a comment about Romney, either pro or con, it nearly always devolves into an extended, and acrimonious discussion about the Mormon faith. Those who defend it, and those who, for whatever reasons, can't abide it, both sides seem determined to wage an "end of times" batte on all the FR threads. Frankly, I'm tired of it, and just wish it would stop. I think that probably 99% of others here feel the same way.

So Mormons think the oneness of God is defined differently than you do, so you call us polytheistic.Ha ha!
Oneness of 'god' who happens to have TWO physical bodies!
What a CONCEPT!

The Bible is rife with The "Gods" creating Adam and Eve,I'm sure this is what you believe and have been taught.
Others need just a LITTLE bit more 'proof' than SLC's say so.
Got them verses handy?

It's a pathetic tactic GZ.Speaking of pathetic: when do you MORMONs get to eat MEAT again?
Does your chosen religion have a weather department that determines when it is cold enough?

DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
SECTION 89
Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Kirtland, Ohio, February 27, 1833. HC 1: 327329. As a consequence of the early brethren using tobacco in their meetings, the Prophet was led to ponder upon the matter; consequently he inquired of the Lord concerning it. This revelation, known as the Word of Wisdom, was the result. The first three verses were originally written as an inspired introduction and description by the Prophet.
19, Use of wine, strong drinks, tobacco, and hot drinks proscribed; 1017, Herbs, fruits, flesh, and grain are ordained for the use of man and of animals; 1821, Obedience to gospel law, including the Word of Wisdom, brings temporal and spiritual blessings.
12 Yea,
aflesh also of

csparingly;
13 And it is pleasing unto me that they should not be

Jesus says we don't choose Him; He chooses usI don't know if that means you are a Calvinist or not. (Not wanting to open that whole schismatic thread here though)
I've had an open mind to faith my whole life. Years ago, as a young man, I seriously considered converting to Judaism. And for quite a while, I attended meetings of the Bah'a'i faith. And I have read with interest many books of Christian apologetics, and engaged seriously with those Christians who sought to bring me to Christ.
Yet after it all, here I am in my fifties, a Deist at most, an atheist when I've not gotten my coffee, an agnostic most likely.
I've enjoyed this interchange. There is a small band of self appointed witchfinders here on FR who delight to scream "Atheist!! Libertarian!! BEGONE!!" whenever I poke into a discussion of faith or moral issues. Clearly you are not in that number.

Your response is so lightweight as to be a joke and embarrassing to you.At least it was a RESPONSE.
SOME folks in these threads IGNORE stuff that is, shall we say, a bit embarassing.

“I get the distinct feeling that you & Ken are not pro-Romney — at least as far as your first pick. But you’d be willing to settle for him as a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th choice.”
I am not by any stretch pro-Romney, but if the “choice” were him or Obama? I vote Romney. I do NOT see them as one and the same, Obama is worse.
Look, I did the same in regards to McCain in ‘08 that you are doing now vis a vis Romney but I don’t hate McCain because because of his religion. It was his politics and remarks about illegal immigrant issues.
I do not care for Romneys’ religion. I don’t like the fact that it didn’t allow blacks until the 70’s (not exactly Mitts’ fault) and I sure as hell will not vote for Romney in the primary due to his untrustworthiness on conservative issues.
But will I vote for a mormon over a muslim? Remind me again, which one of those wants to rape my daughters and cut off my head.

It's NOT a dodge: they've TOLD us so!

I dont know that Romney would work to destroy Israel as Obi and his hell-sent thugs are.THERE is the key: we don't know.
We can GUESS 'til the cows come home; but, in the end, it comes down to we don't KNOW.
(I'm SURE that politicians would NEVER lie to us in a campaign to get elected.
Especially MORMON ones!)

You know, I guess if I really have a problem with you besides the bigotry that is, it’s that you must insult everyone that disagrees with you. I lurk on many of your anti-mormon screed threads and that is a running theme with you. If others are not adequately anti-mormon they get attacked in the most disgusting of ways. How “Christian” of you.
“If you’re saying you’d vote for such a pre-born wolf in sheep’s clothing, I actually would challenge your so-called “conservative” credentials.”
(And no, I wouldn’t do what you & many so-called “conservatives” would do and vote for bin Laden or a Hitler type to defeat an alleged Anti-Christ!)
Nice strawmen. How “Christian” of you.
