A leading Israeli airport security expert says the Canadian government has wasted millions of dollars to install "useless" imaging machines at airports across the country.
"I don't know why everybody is running to buy these expensive and useless machines. I can overcome the body scanners with enough explosives to bring down a Boeing 747," Rafi Sela told parliamentarians probing the state of aviation safety in Canada.
"That's why we haven't put them in our airport," Sela said, referring to Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport, which has some of the toughest security in the world.
Sela, former chief security officer of the Israel Airport Authority and a 30-year veteran in airport security and defence technology, helped design the security at Ben Gurion.
He told MPs on the House of Commons transport committee via video conference from Kfar Vradim, Israel, that he wouldn't reveal how to get past the virtual strip-search scanners, but said he can provide briefings to officials with security clearance.
The Israelis use the most effective form of airport security possible: profiling with a healthy dose of common sense.
Both of which are forbidden by law in most western countries.
I cannot understand why we cannot profile a suspect because it might cause a loss of self respect, but it is okay to electronically undress me, as my right to privacy is outweighed by his rights. As a flight crew member for many years, I can assure you that profiling has gone on for decades. It worked then, and it works now. It’s the height of stupidity to force crew members to go through these searches, as they wouldn’t need explosives to destroy an aircraft.
All one need do is use body cavities, or several on the same jet do the same, and you beat the system-—easy. They know it. Heck, terrorists even did that during an assassination attempt in Saudi a few years back: body cavity explosives.
So, when a terrorist uses the body cavity technique, we better all get ready fore the ol drop-your-trousers and bend over prison exam.
This is insanity.
Recently, the Metro (subway) in DC was the target of a plot to blow up some trains. More people would be killed during that sort of attack (during rush hour). . .than any aircraft (other than an Airbus 380). Our response, occasional random bag checks.
If TSA and DHS were serious about security, they would install airport-style hardware and procedures at the entrance of every subway. Why don't they? They know it is ineffective and be more of a hassle for the public. The subway traveling public would not stand for it. Why do the public put up with this insanity at the airport? Because they are too ignorant to see the ineffective kabuki dance that it is. I can't tell you how many times I have stood in the airport security line and listened to some once-a-year traveler prattle on about how wonderful the security measures are and how much safer they FEEL.
Argh. . . .rant off.

They also follow the old west saying... "SHOOT FIRST.. ask questions later."
Doesn’t an Obama flunky manufacture the scanning machines.
Never an ingredient in a bureaucratic recipe.
This would cause too many hurt “feelin’s” in America and we don’t want to do that.

Somehow I just can’t picture the current TSA staff as effective profilers with common sense.

You just need to follow the money to find out who is profiting from the sale of the scanners. I’m sure it will lead to big DNC donors.
Big Sis and the administration would rather reward their supporters and follow the PC route by groping the public’s breasts and testicles than go after the most likely terrorism candidates.

Is profiling, ie statistical use of race and religion actually illegal by statute, or is it a matter of the government sucking up to and not wishing to P/O the muzzie vote at the expense of violating the privacy of Americans?

With all cops - yes. With German airport police - yes. With Israelis - hell, yes. And a few other others. Certainly NOT in the ranks of the recently retired “You want fries with that?” TSA ranks.
They never look people in the eye. They never engage you in conversation, looking for what EVERY cop looks for in every casual chat with the citizens: Defiance and deception. Duh.

As other posters have pointed out, the best way to fight against these stupid machines is for everyone to dress like Osama Bin Laden when we fly.
Of course, the cultural Marxists don't want logic and reason because we would dump all of their socialism. That is why reason and logic and science have been thrown out of our school system. The Progressives inserted collectivist feelings (use base instincts) to condition the minds instead of giving them true knowledge so they can't think rationally. That is why we have obamas and oprahs.
Two chief differences between TSA and Isaeli airport security.
First and most important, they use Professional security/military people in their screening area vs TSA (HS dropout or unemployable moron)
The second is they are trained to look for deception.
The fastest way out of Israel is to try and outwit a security officer. Your visa will be revoked and you will be immediately deported.
