Glenn Beck: The New LDS Apologist?
Art Vanick ^

Posted on 10/04/2010 1:11:50 PM PDT by Amerisrael

"This is weird. Glenn Beck, who became a Mormon a few years back, is now using his program to promote Mormon archaeology. If you click on these links you can view it. He also has a conspiracy theory about how science, government, commerce, and religion, not in the least, the Smithsonian Institute, purposefully altered history. My good friend Kurt Van Gorden sent me the links below, as well as the descriptions of what he is saying in the videos.

In the first video, about half way through, I about fell out of my chair when Beck referenced Adair’s History of the American Indians ( imagine! ) as proof of similarity between Native American ceremonies and Israelites. He forgot to mention that it predates the BOM by several decades (It was written arounde 1765!). He then ties the Egyptian pyramid math to the Indian mounds (only FARMS and the Maxwell Institute have ventured in this arena, which instantly identified his sources for me). Then in the second video, he uses the fraudulent Newark Stone and the fraudulent Bat Creek stone Hebrew inscriptions as proof of Hebrew among the Indians."

Thats what many anti-mormisms say....But if you attack everything someone says they believe, you are attacking them whether you want to believe it or not...be sure when speaking of the Mormons, include Reid and Hatch and not just Beck, or your just speaking ill of the person, not his beliefs...I have seen people put words in Beck’s mouth that I never heard him say...That is the sin of calumny...I am sure you know what that means...

I just saw your problem.

You are thinking your own heart gives you the wisdom to determine right and wrong.

When you pray for wisdom, the Holy Spirit gives wisdom to your spirit. Not your heart. Your heart like mine is as Scripture says, deceitfully wicked. We get spiritual wisdom from the Holy Spirit that lives in us and is Our Teacher and source of God’s wisdom, among other things.

Dunno Elsie...I could explain my positions on Jesus and G-d to you ad nauseum using the Torah, refuting pretty much everything you believe in, but nothing I say would ever convince you how wrong you are, would it? Eventually you would tire of me bird-dogging you and you would become non-responsive...same thing with the Mormons, I presume...take care...magritte

You’re the judge of my heart? I have a problem?
No man on earth has the right to judge me.
Courts of the land, yes, if I disobey civil law.
But in religious matters? Not!

For a guy that said earlier you don’t care, you are sure obsessed with Mormonism and Glenn Beck, here you are unable to leave the thread, posting as much and as passionately as the people that admit that they are interested in this topic. You just seem to be a little more hostile and personal than them.

My comments here have been solely to defend Beck and the fact that I have never heard him preach Mormonism...in fact, I challenged some to provide links to those who criticize him for such things and they cannot.

This thread was started for no other reason but to bash Beck and I pointed it out in the very beginning. The OP is a troll and accomplished his mission well, as I pointed out a long time ago.

Go back and read it for your self.

And honestly, I believe Glen would not have a problem with that one bit.

Glen’s a big boy and can handle conservatives telling him he’s wrong about this.

If it was any other issue, and Glen was wrong about it, wouldn’t he want to at least hear the reasoning of that side? What if (gasp) Glen WAS WRONG, he’d come right out and say so if he believed he was wrong! That’s the worst thing that could happen! Glen’s said he was wrong about things before. It hasn’t destroyed him. It probably made a lot of people stick with him because the guy sincerely listens when others say “You’re wrong” and will come out and say he’s wrong when he believes he’s wrong.

If people who have wrong ideas never have anyone else tell them “I disagree with you, I think you’re wrong”, how will they ever learn to defend their ideas and how will they ever look at their own wrong views and come to the correct conclusions?

I do not believe in the LDS but for you to make comparison's with islam and LDS is just strait stupid.

HA Ha ha!

In the heat of the Missouri “Mormon War” of 1838, Joseph Smith made the following claim,

It is most interesting that a self-proclaimed Christian prophet would liken himself to Mohammed, the founder of Islam. His own comparison invites us to take a closer look as well. And when we do, we find some striking—and troubling—parallels. Consider the following.

Endnotes

[1] Joseph Smith made this statement at the conclusion of a speech in the public square at Far West, Missouri on October 14, 1838. This particular quote is documented in Fawn M. Brodie, No Man Knows My History, second edition, (New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1971), p. 230–231. Fawn Brodie’s footnote regarding this speech contains valuable information, and follows. “Except where noted, all the details of this chapter [16] are taken from the History of the [Mormon] Church. This speech, however, was not recorded there, and the report given here is based upon the accounts of seven men. See the affidavits of T.B. Marsh, Orson Hyde, George M. Hinkle, John Corrill, W.W. Phelps, Samson Avard, and Reed Peck in Correspondence, Orders, etc., pp. 57–9, 97–129. The Marsh and Hyde account, which was made on October 24, is particularly important. Part of it was reproduced in History of the [Mormon] Church, Vol. III, p. 167. See also the Peck manuscript, p. 80. Joseph himself barely mentioned the speech in his history; see Vol. III, p. 162.”

I have read a lot of anti Catholic responses, lots of anti-calvin responses, lots of anti Mormon responses, lots of anti Lutheran responses...It seems that for some (and I am not pointing my finger at you) that many think they have the inside track with the God of all....

As I told my son when he and his wife decided to leave the catholic church and he said something negative about anothers faith.....don't ever forget you have bothers and sisters in Christ in every denomination..... But it seems that some think only those that believe as they do have the inside track on eternity.....if we agree on the basic's Christ redeemed all and God is just and Jesus opened the door for anyman to walk through, and he forgives sin. That is the good news, not the other stuff..

According to what I know of the Bible....J. Smith is in hell. Sorry to say it....

So yes....unless J. Smith had a true born again experience at the end of his life....he died and went to hell.

That is what I think....and that is what the Bible speaks.

And that's what people say when there is no evidence that they can point to about attacking mormons or hatred of mormons. The reason the other lds have not been mentioned is because this thread is about Beck and lds. My disdain is against mormonISM not mormons.

Elsie, Elsie, Elsie...

Stop frothing at the mouth. Islam will prevent you from ever denigrating the LDS Church again. The LDS Church, however, will defend your right to denigrate Islam. Find a balance, Dude.

Come on Ron.....this is what you said: "There have been no facts on this thread, just bull shi% conjecture and stupid division, just like the OP intended.....and you fell for it, go figure.

I countered with....basically..."prove your statement"

You made the post that there aren't any facts on the WHOLE THREAD...it should be up to you to prove this. Wouldn't you think?

Hey I'm probably wrong...tell me where and how.

Watch the second half of Glenn's 8/18/2010 program, the program where he compares and contrasts manifest destiny and divine providence. The second half of his program he presented pure LDS fiction regarding the Newark, Ohio Indian mounds and the Newark Stones. As the link I rovided above will show, the 'perspective' Glenn offered is pure LDS, yet the reality of the stones is quite different. They are not forgeries, but they are not ancient either, as http://www.bibleinterp.com/articles/Altman_Newark.shtml clearly proves. The Mormon religous teachers are promoting a fictional account of America and Glenn aired the fiction as if facts. Perhaps Glenn's team has too many Mormons on it and they cannot allow themselves to be more objective. I don't know, but it disturbs me when he gives the left such powerful ammo to discredit him.

Thanks for posting an example on how Glenn Beck weaves Mormonism into his show

You and I agree on one thing.

We can tell a person not by what comes out of his mouth but by his actions in accordance with the word.

Jesus also said he that does the will of My Father in heaven is my bother and sister...I think that is why he said to some that thought they were doing good by casting out demons in His name, be gone I know you not...they were is some way not doing the fathers will.....hope this is not too confusing, I sometimes find it hard to express myself...
