Glenn Beck: The New LDS Apologist?
Art Vanick ^

Posted on 10/04/2010 1:11:50 PM PDT by Amerisrael

"This is weird. Glenn Beck, who became a Mormon a few years back, is now using his program to promote Mormon archaeology. If you click on these links you can view it. He also has a conspiracy theory about how science, government, commerce, and religion, not in the least, the Smithsonian Institute, purposefully altered history. My good friend Kurt Van Gorden sent me the links below, as well as the descriptions of what he is saying in the videos.

In the first video, about half way through, I about fell out of my chair when Beck referenced Adair’s History of the American Indians ( imagine! ) as proof of similarity between Native American ceremonies and Israelites. He forgot to mention that it predates the BOM by several decades (It was written arounde 1765!). He then ties the Egyptian pyramid math to the Indian mounds (only FARMS and the Maxwell Institute have ventured in this arena, which instantly identified his sources for me). Then in the second video, he uses the fraudulent Newark Stone and the fraudulent Bat Creek stone Hebrew inscriptions as proof of Hebrew among the Indians."

A recent survey showed that 80% of Americans who identify as Christian, are Biblically illiterate.

Which survey was that?

Your argument is null and void, you have provided no proof.

Even if you did, what does it matter?

If what you say is true, are we supposed to just forget everything GB has proffered just to satisfy your agenda lust?

I started nothing, you need to go start your own thread about Islam, this thread is about Mormonism/Beck.

Read the link I provide. Then come back and try to defend the Momronism crap about the Newark Stones. The stones were carved in the middle ages, not in pre-columbian times. But that is typical of what happens when someone like Beck airs a gross mistake which a religion claims for fact. Thanks for illustrating why Glenn needs to be kept on track.

We don't need your hate preaching here. If you have a religious idea you want to promote then tell us what it is and leave the hate somewhere else.

Wahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

What a persecution complex.

So someone has a different opinion. Suck it up.

Your argument is null and void, you have provided no proof.

As previously stated trying not to bore you with information already provided.

Even if you did, what does it matter?

Ok, then I wont bother you with any.

If what you say is true, are we supposed to just forget everything GB has proffered just to satisfy your agenda lust?

I do have lust but not for Beck.

What is agenda lust?

Never said to forget anything Beck has said, the question was "Is Beck becoming an lds apologist" - I said yes.

Pretty simple really.

“What threat is “Mormonism” to you compared to what Islam can do to you and your daughters?”

From a “spiritual standpoint”, Islam and Mormonisn are just as dangerous because they both lead to hell.

He’s Mormon and so of course his views will be in line with his religion. Whose wouldn’t be? A person would not attend a church whose tenets they disagreed.

It’s disheartening to see FReepers resort to liberal victim rhetoric tactics to shut up the opposition.

This is every bit as bad as black claiming everyone who doesn’t pander to them is a *hater*.

And the homosexual activists who claim that everyone who speaks out against homosexual marriage is a *hater*.

Can’t Mormons grow some backbone for a change?

That doesn’t mean giving them a pass when they say things the vast majority of us consider to be incorrect, false, and in many cases, ridiculous.

We can still support Glen on the things we agree with him on.

There is no one man or woman we have to shut up about, conservatives don’t put their faith behind any mortal man or women. Our philosophy doesn’t hinge around Beck or Limbaugh or Levin or Hannity. If it did it would be the shallowest movement around. It’s in ideas, not people.

Look what happened to the knobs who put their faith in men. We’re paying for it now. Obama. Clinton. Carter.

We recognize people on both side have warts. Some have wacky ideas. If you don’t believe them, be on record about it and don’t cower from your conscience.

It doesn’t mean he’s not right on most other things. But we need to separate ourselves from the wrong stuff. If Beck isn’t strong enough to take conservatives (ie friends) saying “He’s wrong on Mormonism” then he’s not strong enough to take criticism from his enemies. And he’s also not worth much to our side if we have to have areas where we have to shut up about and not discuss or be silent and just go along with him when he starts saying junk we don’t believe. That’s not a guy I want to represent me. He speaks his mind, I will speak my mind.

Let's start over again, where's the proof?

You have offered none but rather pointed to other posters posts, where is yours?

You mad the statement now back it up.

What is agenda lust?

It's what posters like you and the originator of this thread do to promote dissension, any other questions?

Depends on what you are including in the term “dangerous”.

Temporal danger - yep, radical islam is easily more dangerous just about any way you slice it.

Spiritual danger - both are. Both are based on falsehoods. Both will send people away from God if one sincerely believes what those faith teach about salvation. Both have charismatic figures responsible for books saying God’s Word (the bible) are incomplete and they got special revelation afterwards that show they are right and the Christians are now the corrupt ones and they’ve messed up the bible so badly these gents are going to add some additional writings to correct the errors Christians have deliberately allowed to corrupt the Bible.
