Our dear friend, Snugs, from across the sea in the UK, is going through a very tough family crisis.
Her beloved Dad, Bryan, has had serious abdominal surgery and is struggling mightily in the hospital.
They're fearful that, unless he can muster the strength to cough and get his lungs working normally again, his condition will soon gravely deteriorate.
Snugs is such a dear soul who has been so kind to so many here at FR, and has SO many FRiends here.
I know she would appreciate it so very much if you would add her Dad, Bryan, to your prayers.
Lord, bring him comfort and the strength he needs to get through this post-surgical phase, guide his medical team, be with him and his loving daughter, our dear FRiend, Snugs. Bless her with wisdom to make the proper medical decisions for him. Hover near Bryan and Snugs with Your loving comfort.
Prayers will continue for your dad and for you, snugs.
Adding another humble Prayer...
Dear FRiend.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
Tet.
Oh, dear. I pray they do keep a close eye on his chest, and the cough. I’ve read that Britain is being hit with an Australian strain of flu now. They say the vaccine being given out protects against that strain as well, so that is good.
Praying for you both, snugs. Take care.
Awww, sweet pics of Your Dad!!
HUGS & way to hang in there, both of You!!
I saved the pics:)
*I’m also pinging Snugs & Starwise because I mention them here via this ping.*
Thought I’d ping You(MB;B;JA;AG) to this Thread, & Eleanor/Snugs Dad health updates... just in case You didn’t know yet.
I’m sure You join in with prayers if You do know.
He is getting better, but more prayers are needed,He’s still in hospital...
No need to ping me re:replies...ping Snugs or this Thread starter,Starwise.
There are also updates via The Dose.
I would have done this sooner,(the ping) but waited in case others let You know... (& probably someone beat me to telling You, remaining 4 in the recipient box.)
I never came across Your reply/replies & knew You’d want to pray,if not also reply so...Thus this ping.
One of the problems we had over the last 24 hours was that he is difficult to canulate and it took about 4 or 5 doctors before it was achieved and so fluids did not go up until today.
It is not potassium but sodium and it is very low but they are working on levels at 5.30 which would have been with only the first litre of fluid so hopefully tomorrow morning's blood tests will show better.
They then need to find out why it was low in the first place. Apparently sodium can be a problem for those with stoma's and I do remember the Stoma nurse telling me that food needed to be sprinkled with salt to get used to adding salt again if we a family who omitted it and we are. So I must remember to keep adding it to the food.
Of course, I don’t know what is causing his low sodium, but I do know that we lose sodium when we sweat, and you mentioned that your dad has sweats that cause him to be weak. Have they discovered the cause of those sweats and resolved that problem?
If he wasn’t getting much salt, and drinking more fluids, plus the sweating, and the stoma, it seems that could cause low levels of sodium. Hope it is just that simple and all is well with him soon, now that they are able to get the fluids with sodium into his system.
Praying that all is resolved and he can be out of the hospital and home again soon.
Oh so it’s a sodium deficit? Glad t’was figured out.
Thanks for all the updates.
I also am one who doesn’t salt my food beyond what is already part & parcel of the foods I eat.
Except watermelon,I put salt on watermelon sometimes.
& I don’t enjoy unsalted choices in store bought foods.(Except nuts, with those roasted,no salt.)
The above commentary is an aside but still ties in...And I mention it now since the need for more sodium, for Your Dad,update came up...
I brought it up to concur & say that I can relate,as I would have to remember to add more salt in a loved one’s food,if needed,as is now the case for Your Dear Dad.
Prayers along with You, that You will remember, due to the new need for more,to keep adding salt to Your Dad’s food.
Thank you for keeping us informed, snugs - and thank you for the photos. Prayers continue...
Thank you, Dear Snugs, and I'm just about to Say my Bedtime Prayers, and your Dad will be in them as I Pray with All my Heart.
