Our dear friend, Snugs, from across the sea in the UK, is going through a very tough family crisis.
Her beloved Dad, Bryan, has had serious abdominal surgery and is struggling mightily in the hospital.
They're fearful that, unless he can muster the strength to cough and get his lungs working normally again, his condition will soon gravely deteriorate.
Snugs is such a dear soul who has been so kind to so many here at FR, and has SO many FRiends here.
I know she would appreciate it so very much if you would add her Dad, Bryan, to your prayers.
Lord, bring him comfort and the strength he needs to get through this post-surgical phase, guide his medical team, be with him and his loving daughter, our dear FRiend, Snugs. Bless her with wisdom to make the proper medical decisions for him. Hover near Bryan and Snugs with Your loving comfort.
Continuing in prayer. May each day bring the improvement needed to restore his health. God bless.
Praying for BOTH of you as you will need all your strength to see that he pulls through this. He must be so proud of his loving, devoted daughter.
Thanks for the update. Glad that today was better. Continued prayers and lots of hugs.
So Sorry! Big (((((Hugs))))) for you both and lots of prayers as well. No one ever wants to have to go through this with someone you love who has been such a big part of your life - it hurts. Just know that God will give both of you the strength you need to see this through. He loves you more than we do - and you know we love you so much!
Please God, bless Bryan with Your Grace. Amen.
Prayers going up for you dad and for you, dear snugs. Mary
prayers continue for you, snugs!
May trussell’s PC be healed!
Thank you, Salvation!
Much love to you and your Dad at this difficult time. Prayers for you both.
Prayers that he overcomes the setback and is soon on the road to full recovery... and, snugs, it is important that you take care of yourself through this. Try to get sleep (or at least rest) and eat well. Take short walks around the hospital grounds to get some exercise. He will need you to be strong and healthy when he is released, and it’s important for your own well-being.
Thank you for the update. So sorry to hear of the setback.
Prayers continue.
UPDATE ON DAD
Still very tired I think it will take him several days to get back to where he was on the tiredness level. They have upped him to light diet with sips of water. He finds water hard to tolerate for 2 reasons the chest infection makes him cough and also he has a terrible sore throat and thrush in the mouth and throat for which he has to have special drops 4 times a day.
He slept most of the day and his voice is hard to hear because of the sore throat and thrush. I bought a little handbag size tin of Vaseline today for his lips as they are cracked and bleeding probably from the oxygen even though they have water running through it, it is still drying him out.
He had 2 super nurses today the first the sister in law of our neighbour who goes to the strict and particular baptist church, the church where mum is buried and the minister has visited dad in hospital 3 or 4 times. She was great with him this morning and before I arrived had been giving him several sips of water which he does find hard to tolerate. The other was an Indian nurse from Mauritius she was great and managed to get the drug run done, the IV drugs up and dads feed on before she handed over and probably his IV fluid as well because she said she would do before she handed over and although I left prompt on 8.00pm I am certain she will do it before she goes which meant I went home not worrying that this had or had not been done.
Our friend Brenda who used to come in and be with mum 3 times a week and then later continued to come in to keep dad company and also do a bit around the house to help me came up to the hospital today to see dad, her daughter now comes in to us as Brenda found it too much with her bad back.
Our friend across the road Tony also visited and bought me home. I managed to get a full nights sleep last night and today ate in the hospital restaurant. They do a meal for about 3.50 pounds sterling, I had cottage pie which is minced (ground beef) in gravy with mixed diced vegetables with a mashed potato topping and for sweet rhubarb crumble which is stewed rhubarb with a topping of flour rubbed into fat and then mixed with sugar put into the oven to cook till crisp served with British custard (Birds).
Tony bought me home tonight as he stayed until 8.00pm and tomorrow my friend Phil will take me up there and collect me.
All in all things seemed stable today his temperature was lower though did not up and down slightly, all other stats seemed stable, urine output still above target but we will know more when the consultant is back on duty on Monday as over the weekend it is only the junior doctors plus the on call consultant around.
Major areas for prayer as I see is that the chest/lung infection clear up completely and that he gradually regains his strength to meet the next challenge in recovery whatever that might be.
Another items for prayer is that dad gets good nights when rang the hospital this morning he did not have one and this morning after giving him a wash it looks as if he has finally gone to sleep.
Once again many thanks for your prayers, support, thought and love and yes I am getting my rest and eating enough thank you for being concerned about me as well.
Love Eleanor
Thankful to hear that you are surrounded by helpful friends and neighbors during this time, and that you are able to find time for a good meal and some rest. Those of us who have been down this road know what a blessing those kindnesses are to you.
It was especially good to hear that some of the stress is relieved by the fact that people you know and trust are part of his health care team.
Continuing to pray for your dad’s stamina, strength and healing. God bless him with daily improvement toward his complete healing and restoration of health.
Prayer bump
Dear ((snugs)). I’m praying for you and your Dad. ync1994 (Marcy)
Prayers for Snugs and her dad.
Thank you for taking any of your precious moments
to update us, snugs.
He’s having so many challenges, yet he’s tough .. and
a fighter. I think he has a well of inner strength.
How wonderful you have so many helpful angels at
your side for your needs and companionship at
hospital. I’m so glad you have that comfort, for
what is so difficult a path to walk for you. I’m
glad to hear you are getting your sleep as you can.
That’s so important.
Praying that Our Dear Lord sends the aid, strength
and healing for Bryan that he so desperately needs
now. His body needs necessary sleep for healing
and recovery, and I pray this comes now.
May His wisdom be embedded in the medical team for
proper care and treatment, and that your dear Dad experience
increasing strength and energy to get over this mountain
and into strong recovery.
Praying God to be with you all.
UPDATE ON DAD
All in all a good day. He now can tolerate water if given in small sips. He also ate with me feeding him about half a puree meal and also one resource shake meal supplement. He also had half a cup of tea. He was nervous and declined the jelly fearing that this was a cause of the aspiration last Thursday.
He remains IMHO in a very positive frame of mind telling me he wants a another 2 or 3 years and he cooperates well when I encourage him to cough and breath deeply. He stats remain stable we just need to find out tomorrow when the full medical team is on the status of the chest infection.
I went to the restaurant for lunch again today and had a roast turkey meal. I also have taken several walks around the corridors which look out over the various courtyards and are well lit and airy as the windows are open most of the day.
Obviously he tires very easily but mentally he is all there takes all things in. He asked for a mirror to look at himself and there was one in the ward and he was pleasantly surprised when he saw he reflection.
He has also asked me to contact his chiropodist and ask him to visit him and attend to his feet and also to speak to his hairdresser, all positives to me.
Of course we far from out of the woods yet but I know mentally he has the right attitude.
The chest/lung infection situation is the area for prayer and also for him to settle after I leave the hospital each day and that he can get a good night’s rest I rang this hospital a little while ago and yet again it took him a long while to settle but after some pain relief and sorting his bed out he has finally gone to sleep.
Once again thank you for your thoughts and prayers
Love
Eleanor
