Prayer request for wife and son
self | 10/28/08 | griffin

Posted on 10/28/2008 8:49:00 AM PDT by griffin

Any prayer that can be raised will be appreciated for my wife, Anne and newly coming son, Joseph.

Joey will be born tomorrow morning (Wednesday 10/29/08) via cesarean section.

Please pray that:
1.) Joey's diagnosed complications of fluid build-up inside his brain cavity and sacral agenesis are healed by the great physician - and no lasting effects are realized - for the praise and glory of His Name, and in demostration to those medical 'professionals' that subtly encouraged us to terminate.
2.) Courage and faith for my wife and myself leading up to and during this procedure.
3.) That my wife have complete and speedy body and hormonal healing.
4.) A grateful acceptance of the Lord's blessing to us regardless of Joey's condition.
5.) Wisdom for our doctors and nurses.
6.) Strength and wisdom to raise Joseph up as a Godly man.

Joey was diagnosed at 18 weeks with sacral agenesis. It was thought that the lower 5 vertebrae of his spine were missing, effecting his urinary, bowel and possibly mobility control. It has subsequently been noticed on sonogram scans that he MAY possess some sacral vertebra...but how many is still TBD after birth via x-ray.

Joey also has a blocked drainageway in his skull that prevents the fluid from draining and thereby slightly pressurizing the brain all throughout later development. He will need a shunt installed as soon as he is able to bear the surgery so that the fluid can drain into his stomach.

Anne has been in the hospital for the past 6 weeks due to a vasa praevia condition with the umbilical cord centered over the cervix, necessitating Joey's early delivery via surgery before he drops, possibly cutting off his own blood flow.

Thank you all for the prayers, now and in the future. I will check in on the thread throughout the day, but as of tomorrow morning my attention will be with my family. Will check back afterward later to give updates.

Praying for Joey and your family, for the success of his surgery and all medical treatments he may require, that he can grow to be strong and healthy.

All 3 of my children were in NICU, so I know this is a stressful time for you and Ann. Remember to be good to yourselves, as well.

Agreeing in prayers for baby Joey. Have faith. Have NO anxiety about anything, but in prayer and thanksgiving, with supplication, let your needs be made known unto God - and the peace of God which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ our Lord.

To all of you, THANK YOU for your prayers, too many to list right now....THANK YOU!

My wife is recovering nicely from the surgery. She is moving slow but at about 70% now.

Joey is recovering from his third surgery. First was to detach is esophogus from the tracea and reattach it to his stomach, and put in a colostomy port because he was born with a non-perforated anus, and put in a feeding port into his stomach. The second surgery was to put the shunt it and his little head has lost the pressure and has been draining. My wife describes his head as looking like a raisin. The pressure is off and it is draining and will hopefully return to approximate proper shape and size. The third surgery, Wednesday morning was to pull the feeding tube out of his colon (they thought they had it in his stomach) and place it in the stomach. No spillage of waste was made into the abdominal cavity that we can tell, thank the Lord!

So, he continues to get better and we hope to have him off the ventalator before the weekend is out if he keeps improving! :) Thank you all sooooo much! Will post a pick or two in a few days...

Love to all you posters and non-posters,
Mike, Anne and Joey!

Glad to hear that things are looking up. Consider starting a carepage to get info out to friends and family. Just from experience.

www.carepages.com

or www.caringbridge.org

We were so glad we did. Then when you’re home you can continue it and get a nice bound book when you’re done.
