McCain cuts deal with delegates to hand WV victory to Huckabee

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee enjoys the first victory on Super Tuesday for the Republicans as he takes all 18 delegates in the state of West Virginia, winning 52% of the vote, although rumors abound regarding the McCain campaign's possible instruction to their delegates to switch to his side.

Mitt Romney finished second with 47% of the vote, followed by McCain at 1%.

Rumors are circulating that the McCain campaign instructed their delegates to defect over to Mike Huckabee's side as to avoid a Romney victory. Nationally, McCain is significantly ahead of Huckabee and can afford giving the state's 18 delegates to Huckabee, but certainly not to Romney, who was originally in the lead when polling began in West Virginia by a wide margin and trails McCain nationally by only 17 delegates.

He got played?

Two against one? McCain and Huck combining their votes to defeat Romney. That’s fair play to you?

Hey, I know life isn’t fair.

But I don’t root for cheaters and hucksters.

Laugh now.

You won’t be laughing in November, or for the four years afterwards.

In fact, if by some quirk the geriatric lunatic McCain actually wins in November, you, and all of us, are likely to be sadder than if the Democrat won.

Because McCain will seek with a vengeance to marginalize the conservatives in the Republican party, and he will have no meaninful opposition to seeking that end. He will have the vigorous support of the Democrats, and the Republicans will have to go along with him or risk going against the leadership in their party.

If McCain wins the election, the best outcome for conservatives will be a Democrat president.

How is that so?

Strategery.

With a Democrat president,

1. The Republicans in Congress can oppose a Democrat president without opposing their party leadership.

2. The existing RINO Republican Establishment will be defeated and discredited, giving new momentum to the conservative base.

3. The elections in 2010 will likely see a conservative Republican revival take hold of the Congress.

Those three things WON’T happen under a McCain presidency.

Outmaneuvered & outflanked? Really? What do you think Romney should have done to win this battle? Should he have compromised his principles & cut a deal w/ one of these guys? If so, what kind of a deal do you feel he should have cut? & w/ whom?

Ma’am..

I don’t support McCain..I support Huckabee.

However..I do not support Romney under any circumstances whatsoever.

Romney in my humble opinion, has NO core values that he base’s his philosophy on. He is in my mind, the GOP version of John Kerry...He’s flip flopped on so many of our basic values and beliefs that it amazes me that conservatives on our side “Rush” to defend him...

Slick Willard, the smartest man in the room—any room—got outsmarted? By the Huckster?

Huckabee didn't outsmart anyone. McCain, in a rather underhanded move, had his supporters vote for Huckabee, because he knows Huckabee doesn't stand a chance, and he wants to keep Romney from winning the delegates.

Huckabee's "victory" is more of an embarrassment to his candidacy than a victory.

Romney didn't get outsmarted, because there was nothing that he could do to stop this underhanded tactic.

Huckabee is playing the role of spoiler to keep Romney from winning. It appears to be a role that Huckabee is satisfied with if he can't win the nomination himself.

McCain is just scum. The more I see of him, the more he does, the more I hear, the more I loathe him and the possibility that he could be the Republican nominee.

...and when HACKABEE finally pulls out of the race, he will ask his delegates to vote for McInsane.”

This will be ignored by the MSM.

Exactly! I just heard news on the radio about Huckabee winning WV, but there was no mention of the manner in which it was done.

It appears that more than half the Ron Paul supporters switched to Romney, assuming that almost all the McCain supporters switched to Huckabee.

Frankly, I wish Huckabee had run negative, anti-Romney ads. It appears for now more sinister with anti-Mormon whispering attacks by the “Church People for Huckabee”. Far more insidious. And gutless.

Sorry to state the obvious....but McCain is only hated by the radical few of the party...and you guys need to just get over it.

Sad that you’d “take your ball” and go play for the other side.

Glad McCain didn’t do that when he was a POW!

McCain voters didn’t even wait for McCain to be voted off in that round, they switched early.

Very important point!
