McCain cuts deal with delegates to hand WV victory to Huckabee

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee enjoys the first victory on Super Tuesday for the Republicans as he takes all 18 delegates in the state of West Virginia, winning 52% of the vote, although rumors abound regarding the McCain campaign's possible instruction to their delegates to switch to his side.

Mitt Romney finished second with 47% of the vote, followed by McCain at 1%.

Rumors are circulating that the McCain campaign instructed their delegates to defect over to Mike Huckabee's side as to avoid a Romney victory. Nationally, McCain is significantly ahead of Huckabee and can afford giving the state's 18 delegates to Huckabee, but certainly not to Romney, who was originally in the lead when polling began in West Virginia by a wide margin and trails McCain nationally by only 17 delegates.

Maam,

I’m sorry but what proof do you have that Huck “has been paid off”...

Huckabee has been doing well in several of the southern states so far and could very well pull in a decent number of delegates tonight..

Huckabee has done everything in this race on his own..he hasnt had to rely on talk radio to prop him up ala Romney..

Huckabee hasn’t had to reinvent himself ala Romney about core conservative issues.

Would a movement conservative be pro choice, pro-gay marriage, pass goverment run health care, and publically state that he “was an independent during the time of Reagan/Bush” as Romney did?

Huckabee is most certainly a legitimate candidate..He’s come from out of nowhere to be a player in this race...

You’re absolutely right.....How could the GREAT and GLORIUS Romney...get snookered by little old Huckabee.......well if that’s the case....then Iran will snooker him as well.

Good for McCain.....

McCain can't seal the deal either. In fact, he's spoiled it. He's poked Romney supporters in the eye and laughed. He's insulted our candidate and us in a way that Romney has not insulted or treated with contempt McCain or his supporters.

And Huckabee is McCain's mini-me. Hope they can win the presidency on the back of West Virginians because many of us here in the Intermountain West now loathe McCain and Huckabee beyond all comprehension because of how they're treated our candidate and us. Politics--even hardball politics--is one thing. Treating faithful conservatives in the Republican Party worse than you treat Democrats is not politics. It's personal. And it is Party-destroying.

Democrat landslide in the fall? Count on it.

... And they’re counting on us to “forgive and forget” come election day. Speaking for myself, that ain’t gonna happen. If I’ve got to vote for a corrupt, power-mad socialist scumbag for President, I’d rather vote for the RAT. Like amnesty, the message needs to be made loud and clear to the Republican Power Brokers... will conservatives will NOT ACCEPT McCain, and if he’s successfully shoved down our throats (as seems to be the case) we will NOT vote for him. I’m completely serious, and I’m not the only one here... I’d rather see a RAT win than that creep McCain.

>Outsmarted? Looks to me like two rascals agreed to not let the people’s vote matter. I don’t see where this takes any brains.

If Mitt can’t handle Huck and Yuck, he’ll never handle Syria,
Iran and Hammas...

Having no principles is now smart? The ends justifying the means is now smart? Taking people’s votes and voting them for someone the voters didn’t vote for is now to be admired? Shame on you.

The numbers are out there and were it not for Mitts own personnel wealth he would be as bad off as Huck or McCain.

Mitt is running more adds, and spending more money than either. You should be asking ‘if romney can out spend huck and mccain combined why is he still losing? and how will he ever beat Hillary or Obama who will likely have more money than he does/’

He can’t win anything without colluding with McCain

Apparently the same can be said of Willard as he didn’t get the marjority vote either and apparently fail to sway/collude with another candidate to get his delegates to support him. I guess if one of them [Huck/Mc/Paul] had transferred their support to Willard it would have been okay, correct? Shees most things in life are compromises unless one is complete dictator with complete rule.

Remember during the 2000 Florida debacle, when we stormed the doors at the election HQ??? Time for another “tea party”?

However, I do have to say, because I am involved in grassroots politics in my state, this is the stuff that goes on ALL the time. The back room deals would make your head spin.

I think I can say without reservation, this is no longer a government for the people, by the people.

Very few get into politics to serve the people, they get into politics to have it serve them, their ego and their bank account. This is true on BOTH sides.

So does anyone out there still think that Huckabee is a conservative. He is a political hack and opportunist. anyone who would make this kind of deal with McCain is only selling themselves to a RINO Liberal for his own advantage. This is so disgustingly reprehesible i hope all of the conservative evangelicals (I thought I was one of them) wake up to what Huckabee really is.

Dobson-Take a look. Your going to get McCain because of this idiot.
