By Bob Haran; The recent marches in opposition to Rep. James Sensenbreners bill, H.R. 4437, that would make it a felony to be in the country illegally, has raised a question in my mind.
Why don't we make the people responsible for causing people to enter our country illegally, felons? Congress should amend H.R. 4437 and instead of making it a felony to be in the country illegally, make it a felony to illegally hire someone in the country illegally. To make people who are for the most part, law abiding, into felons, is ludicrous. Why does our government refuse to go after the real law breakers, the employers that illegally hire and profit from using undocumented workers?
Let's enforce all our immigration laws.

exactly. we need to enforce the laws in palce. they shouldn't be hiring illegals in the first place.. jobs dry up for the illegals and they'll move somewhere else
Move where? Won't they receive some type of local/state/federal government welfare?
The problem is much bigger than simply wishing them away. Deporting them is the only answer that I see.
For years Ive been saying we should use the RICO law on criminal employers. Under RICO the government can confiscate the personal assets of the board, the officers and the executives, including their homes, cars and retirement accounts.
If the government impoverishes 30 or 40 corporate big wigs, companies would be firing illegals faster than they hired them. Many of them would then go back where they belong. If we cut off tax paid services to illegals, the rest would go home too.
What we need is an administration that enforces the law. The problem would be solved
Until we all write our congressmen and tell them that if they don't treat this like the crime it really is they are fired this will get know where.
That is the only way to stop the illegals. Don't just sslap their wrists, put illegal hirers in jail and the illegal stampede will dry to a trickle.
You miss the whole point: If they can't be hired, they have NO reason to ever enter the country.
Your neighbour to the North has already started deporting aliens who are in-country without legal reason.
If the "commie-socialist" Canucks are doing it, what up with you lot?
Or is it all smoke, no fire. Until the fire is out of control again, like WW2?
Make the employers first offense a very stiff fine, the second offense a felony with a extremely stiff fine and jail time. Amen,
Sounds like a good idea, but knowing how our court system operates the people who get prosecuted for hiring illegals won't be the people who hire dozens of illegals (like the wine industry and hotel industry). The people who get charged will be those who have an illegal watch their kid three days a week so they can go to work.
I'm not saying that people who have a landscaper or a janitor who come in a couple days a week or month are doing the right thing, but if Mr & Mrs Jones is going to be prosecuted for having an illegal do their laundry, then for damn sure Gallo Winery better be prosecuted for having thousands of illegals
picking their grapes....
Would you slap the hand that fed you?
It's all about money.
"Deporting them is the only answer that I see".
Many are ignoring the problem of forged documents. I was an employer in California until 12 years ago. I was virtually certain I had illegals on my payroll, but they had "green cards".
Perhaps things have changed since then. (Is there now a system for an employer to check for forged credentials?). But I suspect it's gotten harder, not easier.
I want names
NAMES OF EMPLOYERS OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS
Let's make it PERSONAL. Who the hell is pulling the strings on Bush with all this money that big business is making OFF THE BACKS OF TAXPAYERS who are supporting their hiring of illegal immigrants.
Bush is sliding to infamy.
This one world government b.s. has to be stopped. Now.
Of course, what are there 10 million illegals or so. And while we are jailing them and their employers and their landlords, we might as well jail people who sell stuff to them. That way we might be up to 70-100 million people we need to jail. It makes perfect sense to me.....
