The "Mayflower Compact" is legally defensible as a founding document as I was present at the unveiling of the American Heritage Foundation Rock in our county administration building. This was installed on Sept. 11, 2003, (after the Judge Roy Moore problem), with a parking lot full of TV satellite trucks, reporters crawling over each other and overflow attendance. Yes, the ACLU was there, threatening to sue but there wasn't a peep out of them or the media because it can be done legally.

Ann Coulter's yet-to-be released book "Godless: The Church of Liberalism" is already starting to gain considerable notice among conservatives and liberals alike. And it isn't hard to see why when she makes comments like, "Democrats are unlikely to gain seats in November because the base of their party, the majority of their party, are the insane Democrats."

Always learning new stuff on these threads. I looked up "diæresis" and found that it's not the same thing as an umlaut. I knew it was used differently, but didn't realize it had a different name. Thanks

Next year Virginia will lead the nation in commemorating the 400th anniversaty of the first Engllish speakers to make a go of it in North America. 14 years before the Puritans.

I don't know much about the Mayflower Compact, but I do know that the Virginia Legislature is the oldest such body in the New World.

Here's a favorable review of her comments. She explains that the evidence for evolution, such as Piltdown Man, is a hoax. She doesn't even know Jack Chick about science it would seem.

One of the useful accents that disappeared from written English with the introduction of the typewriter.

Computers means it can come back - But nowadays not as easily as on my old WP Program Protext, where typing ALT-" after a vowel would put a diæresis/umlaut over the vowel - Other ALT combinations gave other accents (I miss Protext)

Yep. The ACLU was livid. They were spouting off to the TV crews about how they were going to sue and have this monument remove like the Roy Moore monument. This monument was design by legal teams to withstand the assault against our historical documents and it prevailed. The Magna Carta and the Mayflower Compact are both on this monument on government property. The unveiling was performed by Rev. Micky Carter of Landmark Baptist Church located in Haines City, Florida with plenty of religious references and prayer. The media filmed it all and there was no local or national coverage. It was legal and it still stands today inside this government building. These are facts and they prevail over emotion and all legal assaults by history revisionist.

It almost sounds like she posts on these threads, the arguments are same old anti-evo rubbish seen here.

I'll stick to reading people like Horowitz, Sowell, Charles Krauthammer, and Walter Williams when I want to read conservative commentary.
