A STONE phallus 28,000 years-old has been discovered in a cave in Baden-Wuertemberg in southern Germany, the University of Tubingen said today.
In assembling 14 stone fragments, found last year in the Hohle Fels cave, archeologists rebuilt the phallus, which is 20 centimetres long and three centimetres wide. It will be on display at the prehistoric museum in Blaubeuren, starting on Monday.
The caves in the Blaubeuren region, which sheltered Neanderthal man, are among the most important archeological sites in Europe.
The oldest object representing a bird, dating back 32,000 years, was discovered a few years ago in the same cave.

"... archeologists rebuilt the phallus, which is 20 centimetres long and three centimetres wide."Neaderthal man #1: Know how to get 20 centimeters?
Neanderthal man #2: No. How?
Neanderthal man #1: Well, I just fold mine in half!

If it were clear quartz, I would advance the theory it was an early prototype rigid colonoscopy endoscope. That is about the size they used on me the first time.
(Greatest invention of the 20th Century: the flexible fiber-optic endoscope.)
Thanks for the post; and thanks for the ping.

Is it possible that you all are reading something into the artifact that is not really there?
I am unable to link to the pic so I can't say for sure what it looks like.
