Big time fist throwing. Fans, players and more. Any thoughts ?
I'm more offended by this upcoming Fat Albert movie than that fight.
Why should the players have to stand there and take that crap? Mark my words, one day one of these "fans" is going to throw something at a player and end up seriously injuring or killing them. It's inevitable, the way things are gonig.
If the Detroit security had bothered to do their jobs, this wouldn't have gotten out of hand. And even after all this, there were still fans walking right on the court and harassing the Pacers!
Thanks, but Steven Jackson was throwing punches at anyone in his way, people who weren't even involved. Okay he punches me and I'm going to do nothing and other fans aren't going to get into it. What planet are you from???????
Miami University 81

What is with pro-sports???????? No wonder why I don't watch them anymore.
I understand your point. I'm ashamed of my fellow Pistons fans. I thought we were all on the same page when we won the title in June. Apparently, they forgot they're not on the roster. Having said that, these multi million dollar guys should have a little sense.
The ESPN guys were suggesting the NBA was responsible for security. I do recall seeing Laker games in the past where they've had lots of those guys with yellow jackets with their backs to the floor the entire game, watching the stands.
"Artest likes to start things but never backs it up, hes a punk."
Mr Gore, is that you ? What the hell is Sore Gore Loser Man doing on FR ?
Would never have happened if the Pistons were winning. BAD SPORTSMANSHIP ON DETROITS PART!!! THEIR BLUE SHOWS!!!
Unless he was talkin' smack while lying there. As I said earlier, no matter how out of bounds the fan was for tossing that brew, Artest has to have the presence of mind not to run into the stands and physically go after the guy he thought threw the thing. It could cost him his career. Worth it just to land a few punches? No way.
I agree with you, the beer started it, and the guy was an idiot for doing it, but going into the stands escalated the whole thing. And there is no excuse for fans throwing other things, I'm not trying to say that, anyone who did should be prosecuted, but I don't buy that the players aren't responsible either.
But he's such a talented rapper!
:)
And seeing the ref having a bottle thrown against his head and two fans coming ONTO THE FLOOR to challenge a player from the opposing team.
It was hilarious to see that fat Pistons fan come up and get knocked right down. Do people really think they could challenge Ron "Unstable" Artest? LOL
Too bad he went after the wrong guy, the jackass with the hat deserved to have his face broken.
Then seeing all those fans throwing things NOT ONLY on Pacer players, but on security and other personnel was a disgrace.
Well, I did say "hardly," and Rudy T was running into that punch. Not saying it wasn't ugly or in any way his fault (though KW does say he was reacting, and I hate to say that I might have reacted the same way if I'm defending myself -- though I wouldn't be in that position on a basketball court). I'm just saying that Rudy's injuries were probably exacerbated by running into it.
I'm not speaking of old time NBA players (well, old time is pushing it a bit). A few of them could throw a punch. I haven't seen any punch in the last 10 years in a game that I thought would hurt anyone. Most don't even connect.
Something is very wrong with the ESPN commentators and ESPN2 anchors tonight. They all are saying its ALL the fault of the Detroit fans.
I'm not a Pacers or Pistons fan...but after watching 30 mins of coverage, here's what I saw:
A) Artest takes un-needed cheap shot on Pistons best player with only a few seconds left. Game is over since Pacers already up by 15 or so points.
B)Ben Wallace responds back at cheap shot by Artest by giving hard chest push back.
C)Artest taunts Detroit crowd by laying on scorers table will players and coaches yell at each other.
D)Fan throws plastic cup (not a bottle) at Artest.
E)Artest and teamate Stephen Jackson go into the stands and start punching out the lights of Detroit fans.
F)Detroit fans fight back.
And all the dope anchors, commentators and ex-players on ESPN do is focus on part "F" above, forgetting how we got to this mess in the first place. Every star player in the NFL, NBA or MLB has at one point had a coin, cup or something tossed at them. Very few are mentally unstable and charge the stands.
This action by Artest and Jackson requires extremely long suspensions.
Go to basketballboards.net at about the 25 or 26th page of "HOLY CRAP" and you'll find some vids of the incident.
Like I said earlier, what about the Pacer players showered with food and drinks when all they were trying to do was get back to the locker room? And it wasn't just a few fans either -- it looked like every person around there was throwing stuff.
No I happen to be a very red guy in a blue state, although it is nice to make your acquaintance!!!! HEHEHEHE!
I agree. The Detroit fans are idiots. But you cross (literally) into an entirely different situation when YOU as a player, cross into the stands. If a fan comes onto the floor (as happened later) feel free to pound the crap out of them.
