  • Supe's on! - Even with a darker take on the great American superhero (3-stars)...

Even with a darker take on the great American superhero, our favorite costumed good guy is still the man! ‘I grew up in Kansas,’’ says the dimpled superhero of the unabashedly crowd-pleasing blockbuster “Man of Steel’’ as he faces attempted rendition as an enemy alien. “I’m as American as they come.’’ Deploying an impeccable American accent, Brit Henry Cavill may be as charming as the late great Christopher Reeve — or Reeve’s unfortunate doppelganger Brandon Routh, who donned a more traditional Superman costume in “Superman Returns,’’ an underrated attempt to reboot the franchise seven years ago.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana congressman Charles Boustany won a fifth term on Saturday by handily defeating his fellow Republican incumbent, Jeff Landry, in a runoff election. The two men were forced into the same district when Louisiana lost a congressional seat because of anemic population growth in the latest federal census. The state will have six U.S. House seats in the new term that begins in January.

President Obama's campaign on Friday tweeted out a picture of Obama sitting in a chair marked "the president" along with the line: "This seat's taken." The tweet follows Mitt Romney's official acceptance of the GOP presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention on Thursday night, as well as a unique speech by Actor Clint Eastwood. Eastwood, who spoke before Romney's introduction by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), addressed an empty chair on stage throughout his speech, saying "Mr. Obama" was sitting there.

President Barack Obama admitted Friday in a radio interview broadcast that he yearns for a "weird superpower"—the ability to speak any language. But flying might be cool, too. Obama, speaking to the "Morning Mayhem" crew on 93.3 KOB FM in Albuquerque, also came out in favor of red chili over green, said the best advice he ever got was "be persistent" and revealed that he has never heard the original version of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" but has watched a gone-viral video of himself performing it. It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s an incumbent president in...

"Don't blame Wall Street, don't blame the big banks, if you don't have a job and you're not rich, blame yourself. It is not someone's fault if they succeeded, it is someone's fault if they failed,"___ Herman Cain Of course Herman Cain, former ringleader of the Federal Reserve would say something like that, especially when the Federal Reserve and its un-constitutional money monopoly is in defiance of our founding fathers expressed intentions, and is used to plunder what America‘s Businesses and labor have produced. And what did Daniel Webster have to say regarding working people: "Of all the contrivances for...

Newt Gingrich vowed on Friday to campaign for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination on his own terms, saying he would do “whatever it takes” to remain in the race despite the exodus a day earlier of nearly his entire senior staff. “There is a fundamental strategic difference between the traditional consulting community and the kind of campaign I want to run,” Mr. Gingrich said. “Now we’ll find out over the next year who’s right.” Even as some prominent Republicans, including Gov. Terry Branstad of Iowa, questioned his viability, Mr. Gingrich made plans to deliver a foreign policy speech in Los...

Is Mitt Romney trying to woo the teenage girl vote ahead of next year's presidential election? In a potentially campaign-changing development, the 2012 presidential hopeful admitted to NBC's Jamie Gangel that he happens to be a fan of the "Twilight" series. The revelation came up during a discussion of books the former Massachusetts governor has read, including George W. Bush's recent memoir. But that's not all, Romney added. "I like silly stuff, too," Romney volunteered. "I like the 'Twilight' series. That was fun."

After painstaking research, it can now be revealed that contrary to popular belief, Barack Obama may not have attended college at Columbia University. It is true that some speculation in this direction has shown up on the internet in the past. These rumors have been given credence that few if any of those whose stay at Columbia coincided with Obama can remember him. Some have speculated that Obama did not attend Columbia at all; others, that he connected with various others who had Communist leanings, such as William Ayers, or even Cloward and Piven, and was forced to conceal his...

NEW ORLEANS — Opposing players haven't had much luck slowing return ace Devin Hester, but opposing team owners did so Tuesday when they passed a rule that will make it more difficult to return kickoffs. The Bears steadfastly opposed the proposal to move kickoffs from the 30-yard line to the 35 and voted against it to no avail. Kickers will find it much easier to reach the end zone and force the returner to settle for a touchback as opposed to risking a big return. It is anticipated the touchback rate could more than double to near 40 percent. Coach...

If the obscure and has-been comedians who appear on National Public Radio want to mock conservatives and spread left-wing propaganda, they should do it on their own damned dime. The government-sponsored radio conglomerate broadcasts a weekend show called “Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!” It leans heavily on laugh tracks to prop up the lame punchlines of the likes of liberal humorist Paula Poundstone and describes its purpose thusly: “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! is NPR’s weekly hour-long quiz program. As attention turns to the 112th Congress -- and the 2012 cycle -- the political ramifications of the sprint to close the 111th Congress are becoming clear. Several members of the 111th Congress may find themselves in competitive Senate races in 2012 and an analysis of their voting decisions during the lame duck session offers a few clues about what is in store for some of 2012's marquee contests. The debate over Pres. Obama's compromise on the extension of the Bush tax cuts, a central focus of the session, shed some light on the 2012 Nevada Senate race. Sen. John...
