A man with a long criminal history that includes a conviction for armed robbery has been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a Chicago police commander. Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said Shomari Legghette, 44, was also charged with being a felon possession of a firearm and possession of narcotics. Authorities are investigating a reported shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Wednesday. Officers responded to the school at 5901 Pine Island Road for the reported shooting, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said. There were reports of victims, BSO officials said. Coral Springs Police tweeted that that people should stay away from the school due to an active police scene. No other information was known.

A 19-year-old man in a Seattle suburb has been arrested and accused of raping a high school student as she was dying from an overdose and texting explicit pictures of her to friends.
