I'd say that using narcotics made him incompetent to possess firearms. Wouldn't you? Maybe police should start enforcing laws that are relevant to the matter.

Could someone reminded me why we think it is a good idea to keep druggies alive by injected them with NARCAN at $5,000.00 a shot?

He could have done it with knives, or he could have put rat poison into their food. He could also have set the house on fire. People go nuts in unpredictable ways.

Well, grammatically, you can’t kill yourself first...

People who shouldn't own guns, shouldn't own guns.

If only it were that easy.

I don't get the love for drug addicts either....

we can't FORCE them to be reasonable but we spend millions on keeping them alive and to what end?....

people don't understand that our ER's and hospitals have huge numbers of druggies in with severe infections requiring 6 weeks of IV abx thru a centrally placed IV...and often, there is no place for them to go so they stay at the hospital....and they don't pay and usually have no insurance...

I'm not saying to hurt them or to kill them or to even jail them, but why must be we enable them by providing needles and methadone and narcan ?....and some areas have free shootup clinics....the newest twist is the elites want nurses to shoot the druggies up so to prevent infections and od's....who the hell cares?

I knew a bunch of inner city kids back in the day. They all packed heat illegally. One dude’s gun fell out of his pocket in gym class.

It is that easy. He was a “prohibited person” by law because of his drug abuse. The local police knew it and had arrested him for it.

There are jurisdictions where police are refusing to investigate known dealers who are obviously carrying weapons (reports from coworkers, grips sticking way out of the sides of their shirts, etc.).

No. I would not. The right of self defense still applies.

I do take the stance of the pre-Randian libertarians however, that voluntary use of intoxicating substances proves intent. Thus someone inebriated cannot cause accidental fires, they commit arson. They cannot commit manslaughter, only murder or justified (self defense) homicide.

Jurisprudence is too permissive.

Yet somehow he still managed to acquire a nice collection of firearms. It's like those drunk drivers who kill people after having their licenses suspended. "How was he on the road?" people ask. It's because they only took his license, not his car keys.

So this guy gets hemmed up by the cops for being a junkie? Did they arrest him for being under the influence of drugs or for being a prohibited person owning firearms?

Anyhow, it appears that addiction ran in his family and he was as much an alcoholic as a drug addict, having been arrested for alcohol-related offenses as well as drugs.

While Intractable Pain Patients are being forced to Cold Turkey their pain meds, and get listed in a Opioid Management Data Base like criminals. Over this “FAKE OPIOID CRISIS”.

Set up Military Tent Hospitals, and house them inside a electrified Fence with Razor Wire on top for a couple of years to dry out cold turkey. Treat the HIV, STD stuff. Repeat offenders don’t get help.

The problem with using "rates" is they are not useful with very small sample sizes. The big red areas over Idaho/Oregon/Utah/Montana/Wyoming are covering very sparsely populated areas. Values in densely populated areas have better sample sizes and are more likely correct interpretations.

Sure, but 'rates' in small sample size still are a problem.

I wouldn't try to deflect that there isn't problems there as well. Sample sizes still show problems, poverty and alcohol on reservations, etc. Small samples, but rates are extreme compared to the rest of the us. Same for chicago. Us doesn't look like chicago, but the rates of shootings are extreme.
