The City of Chicago hit a deadly milestone over the Labor Day weekend — the 500th homicide of the year. And with that tragic tally, the Windy City has now logged more homicides than New York City and Los Angeles combined — and is on pace to reach a homicide level not seen since the 1990s, the Chicago Tribune reported Tuesday. Don't blame the cops, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said outside police headquarters Tuesday. "It's not a police issue, it's a society issue," Johnson said after a Labor Day weekend during which 65 people were shot, 13 of them...

Old age and illness have not dulled the tongue or treasonous soul of convicted jihad-enabling lawyer Lynne Stewart. She's as vile and violence-promoting as ever. Freed from prison two years ago on "compassionate release" after being diagnosed with advanced breast cancer, the flaming 76-year-old radical is still championing left-wing massacres against the police. And still kicking America in the teeth. The Associated Press reported over the holiday weekend that the mouthy menace remains stubbornly devoted to "armed struggle." Translation: Sicko Grandma Stewart — as unrepentant and unapologetic as the rest of her rotten hippie pals in the bloodthirsty Weather Underground,...

The conventional wisdom is that the city fathers of big cities and gangs are at opposite ends of the spectrum. That may be true in many cities but it isn’t true in Chicago. The incestuous relationship between aldermen and gangs blurs the line between good and evil. 85 years of Democratic rule has left Chicago with a reputation as the most corrupt city in the US. It is well earned. Aldermen are kings (or queens) of their wards. They wield immense power. They control patronage jobs, zoning, city contracts, property tax reduction and permits in their wards. It is a...

August 31, 2016 PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A newlywed couple raised in Arizona created a successful YouTube business. Then they decided it was time to leave the valley and explore life, so they moved to Chicago. But one day after arriving in the "Windy City," their big move turned into a big nightmare. "It's one of the most amazing cities in America," said Brianna White. "Hey, why not, we're doing okay. We can go there and be okay financially, so why not go and see what happens," said Jaelin White. But what happened next terrified the Whites. All unpacked, the couple...

NOTICE TO FR READERS, DUE TO UNEXPLAINED TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY I COULD NOT GET IT BOLD AND RED ON FR. THAT AND HTML CODES TOO LONG. You check it out By clicking here but to get to the heart of the matter its written by Craig Winn who went to interview Muslim terrorists in the west bank in Israel and how the Muslim religion commands murder and intolerance and how 9/11 and Islam are interconnected. It was a...

Chicago police Superintendent Eddie Johnson wants Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to reveal his "magic bullet" for combating the spate of murders here. Johnson has a point — what exactly is Trump's secret plan to end the gun violence? The GOP candidate should answer this challenge. Here's a simple plan: Chicago should "Al Capone" its killers. When the notorious Chicago gangster finally went down in 1931, it wasn't because of his complicity in scores of murders or bootlegging that brought him outlandish wealth. The mob boss was taken down because he did not pay his taxes — and that brought...

Chicago is wrapping up its most deadly month on record since the mid-90s, with more than 480 people shot and 78 dead, almost all of them ascribed to gang violence. (Plus any that they manage to sneak in before midnight tonight.) The total number of murders for the year is nearing 500 – well on track for a record – and there’s still a full four months to go. This grim milestone adds up to more murders than New York City and Los Angeles combined. We’ve pretty much run out of awful adjectives to describe what’s going on in the...

So do City Hall and the police. Twenty-five...

Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans, who has come under criticism for his handling of allegations that one of his law clerks put on a robe and heard cases, has fired the clerk, his office announced Tuesday. In a terse, three-paragraph statement, Evans' office said that Rhonda Crawford "is no longer employed as a law clerk/staff attorney" assigned to the south suburban Markham courthouse. The statement said that judicial rules prevented Evans from commenting further on the matter. Crawford has worked for Evans' office since 2011 and made about $57,000 a year. In March, Crawford defeated two opponents in the...

Chicago is launching a creepy new campaign to blanket the mega-city in more surveillance through its Array of Things, creating a network of (at least) 500 sensors devices that will be shared in a growing Big Data cloud. As The Chicago Tribune reports: The first of a network of data-collecting sensors that could one day blanket Chicago are now live. The city installed two nodes containing computers and sensors including low-resolution cameras as well as air quality sensors last week. They went up on traffic light poles at Damen and Archer avenues in the McKinley Park neighborhood on the...

The former second-in-command at Chicago's Department of Transportation was convicted in January of bribery, conspiracy and extortion. Bills was accused of accepting envelopes stuffed with cash, along with gifts — including condos in two states and a Mercedes — to...

Citizens of the developed world are watching Venezuela’s descent into financial and political chaos mostly, it seems, with amused detachment, safe in the assumption that we’ll never end up hunting our cats and dogs for food. But – since Europe, Japan and the US are making essentially the same mistakes as Venezuela’s past and present governments – we might want to question that certainty. Consider what’s happening in the third biggest US city: Chicago’s detective force dwindles as murder rate soars [see excerpt at source] Why should a city as apparently affluent as Chicago have such a nightmarish crime situation?...

The city hasn't seen a deadlier month since October of 1997, when there were 79 homicides. For the whole year, the count was 761, according to department numbers. Chicago has recorded 487 homicides and more than 2,800 people shot so far this year, compared to 491 homicides and 2,988 people shot all of last year, according to Tribune data. Chicago has a lower homicide rate than many other U.S. cities that are smaller in population. But this year, the city has recorded more homicides and shooting victims than New York City and Los Angeles combined, even though the two cities...
