CHICAGO -- An Illinois State Representative from Chicago is addressing the violence epidemic in the city, in a different way.
Rep. Sonya Harper, D-Chicago, represents some of the most crime-ridden communities, including Englewood and the Back of the Yards neighborhood.
Harper introduced her plan Tuesday for a bill that would require ammunition makers to stamp serial numbers on every bullet sold in Illinois.

Suuure ... that will keep criminals from stealing bullets and or buying them from adjacent states or from the black market. Yet another bonehead idea from the gun grabbers
And if the bullets are not purchased in Illinois?
Black market on ammo bought in other states. This idea is worthless IMHO.
There’s surveillance cameras on every corner. Drones in the sky. NSA monitoring your every key stroke, phone call and credit card purchase. Chips on your electrical usage. Chips in your car. Chips in your kids. Next, they’ll be requiring chips in your poo.
There is no idea too bad, too stupid and expensive to implement that liberals won’t try it.

One thought is to declare the crips and the bloods as terrorists and track them—— down.
Will the bullets be tracked on both entry AND exit wounds? Or just one?
counterfeit bullets kill just as good as the ones with real serial numbers
Better ideas: (1) track THUGS better; (2) More CCWs; (3) better “stand your ground” legal protection for law-abiding defenders.
Which will greatly increase the price of ammo in IL, resulting in people going out-of-state to buy their ammo. This will lead to calls to do this nationally, and to require ID and record-keeping for ammo sales.

So I guess gun stores in Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan better be stocking up!
Spent a tens of millions of taxpayers money and never solved one crime.
Why not ballistic ‘Bullet Print’ each gun, before its sold?.......Keep records on file like fingerprints so when a round is recovered from a crime scene or body, then they will know where it came from...........
Ghetto Chicago (south side) to ghetto Indiana (Gary, East Chicago) is maybe 15 - 20 minutes. Good luck stopping anything by stamping Illinois bullets.
How about if you commit a crime with a gun you go to jail and we throw away the key.
