To end senseless homicides, give suspected Chicago killers the Capone treatment
Chicago Tribune ^ | 1 sept 2016 | Sean Kennedy

Chicago police Superintendent Eddie Johnson wants Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to reveal his "magic bullet" for combating the spate of murders here. Johnson has a point — what exactly is Trump's secret plan to end the gun violence?

The GOP candidate should answer this challenge.

Here's a simple plan: Chicago should "Al Capone" its killers.

When the notorious Chicago gangster finally went down in 1931, it wasn't because of his complicity in scores of murders or bootlegging that brought him outlandish wealth. The mob boss was taken down because he did not pay his taxes — and that brought in the federal government.

Those suspected in homicides are mostly hiding in plain sight, but police and prosecutors have to follow the law and can bring charges against them only when the authorities have solid evidence, not just hunches and hearsay. And they have to find witnesses who will not be intimidated — or killed.

And here I thought they wanted him to kill them with a baseball bat or a bunch of tommy gun bullets.

But they would have to be in a position to pay taxes in the first place. What will they get, maybe a dozen of them?

The IRS is already all too eager to give the Al Capone treatment to law abiding productive citizens. If you are a Tea party type or a conservative you may be subject to even a little extra scrutiny, While Timmy Geitner not only walks free, but was even appointed as seceratery of treasury. We should be very careful about what we wish for concerning politicians use of IRS power to target people.

Malone: You said you wanted to get Capone. Do you really wanna get him? You see what I’m saying is, what are you prepared to do?

Ness: Anything within the law.

Malone: And *then* what are you prepared to do? If you open the can on these worms you must be prepared to go all the way. Because they’re not gonna give up the fight, until one of you is dead.

Ness: I want to get Capone! I don’t know how to do it.

Malone: You wanna know how to get Capone? They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. *That’s* the *Chicago* way! And that’s how you get Capone. Now do you want to do that? Are you ready to do that? I’m offering you a deal. Do you want this deal?

Ness: I have sworn to capture this man with all legal powers at my disposal and I will do so.

Malone: Well, the Lord hates a coward.

[jabs Ness with his hand, and Ness shakes it]

Malone: Do you know what a blood oath is, Mr. Ness?

Ness: Yes.

Malone: Good, ‘cause you just took one.

I suspect the Tribune is shilling for selective police state enforcement, that will quickly be used against the peaceful law abiding citizens it was supposed to protect.

Nothing good ever comes from the MSM that constantly protect, support, shift blame and apologize for vicious criminals.

Chicago...run into the ground and turned into a war zone by decades of Democrat mismanagement...wants a Republican president to fix it.

Sweet.

Well, first things first, it’s not “gun violence”. If you can’t identify the problem you will never resolve it. It’s incompetence, pure and simple. Enforce the laws on the books, shut down the gangs savagely and prosecute corruption. Chicago is rapidly becoming “Brasil Norte” as corruption and crime. Well deserved judging by their election results.

"..Some intimidate witnesses into silence by instilling fear that they will be the next victim.."

Well, that fear is not unfounded. Example from down here in Wilmington, NC:

Nashid Porter Story
This guy was arrested for murder. Then some dipstick judge let him out on bail. He found the witness and killed him.
In the article linked, the paper finds it necessary to name every witness. If this was a gang-banger, what do you think that would mean for the witnesses?

Mebbe I'm "wrong-headed" about this, but the implications of this for the peeps in these places hasta be yuge. No wonder nobody cooperates with LE. Can ya blame them? Really?

Chicago is run by criminals, the Fed is run by criminals and they somehow expect the criminals to arrest and jail their own low level violent criminal enforcers? The only “criminals” that get jailed in Chicago are the competition.

More insane fantasy from the Trib.

“The mob boss was taken down because he did not pay his taxes — and that brought in the federal government.”.....

The federal government doesn’t use such practice any longer. Don’t believe it? Ask Al Sharpton.
