Back in the 90’s there was a show called Sliders where the 4 main characters would ‘slide’ between alternate realities trying to find their way home. Sometimes they ran into alternate versions of themselves.

One world they landed in had women in charge of everything and men were the focus of male-bashing bigotry that kept them as second class citizens. One of the 4 sliders alternate there was actually a candidate for president, but had mysteriously disappeared. Naturally everybody thinks the slider guy is that candidate, so he winds up debating the female POTUS, but he wants to lose, so he ‘pulls a Muskie’ and when attacked in the debate starts crying and talking about how hurt he feels.

This has the opposite effect however, all the women voters are moved by his tears and the POTUS looks like she is ‘as mean as a man can be’.

Welcome to your alternate reality.

The difference between what would have been and what will be is so great I wonder if that distace will ever be spanned in the future. I fear America has missed the last exit ramp on the road to serfdom.

I’d be temped if I was Bibi to call Obama and tell him the bombers just took off, and then sit back with a stopwatch and wait to see how long it takes Iran to go on high alert.

I disagree with your characterization of Mitt, but even if it was true that would still make him a far better choice than Obama.

Trumpet the ‘conservatism didn’t lose’ line all you want, but the ugly truth is something far more basic DID lose. Common sense lost, the ability to comprehend the most basic economic principles lost, the ability to learn from experience lost, being able to perceive reality lost. Do you really think conservatism has a chance when even the current mess doesn’t drive people to try something, anything else and they hold out their hand to government and say gimmie!

All of Romney’s negatives, real or perceived, still don’t add up to making Obama a rational choice given his record. If you are looking for somebody who can’t be smeared or demonized by other side then good luck, even Christ had to put up with that.

The vote that took place is an indictment of the American people, not Mitt.

I’m in the Ottawa Valley, and there is a fault line here. Usually we get one 3+ quake every 10 years or so. Two years ago we had a 5, Since Sept 1 this year we have had 2 3’s and a 4.

Yeah, I know that is small potatoes as far as quakes go, but it’s a trend all the same.

I don’t care what the perceived flaws with Romney were, even if every single flaw he has been accused of was 100% valid it is still NO EXCUSE for letting Obama win. Anybody who did either of those is guilty of either an intellectual or a moral failure.

Here’s a plan:

Texas leaves the Union, goes hard core conservative outlawing abortion etc so liberals there flee to the rest of the the USA. They start drilling for oil in the Gulf and defend their border.

As the US falls more and more into debt, Texas buys up Arizona, Utah, etc. until you have a solid homeland for all conservatives and the Liberals left with the rest.

Optional: rename Texas to Gault’s Gulch.

Exactly, the American people had the sharp stick of reality poking them in the back toward Mitt. This restult is not with Mitt not running well, or from Obama running well, it is pure and simply a reflection on the state of the American people.

America is now enrolled in advanced courses in the school of hard knocks.

Fox just showed Ohio numbers, Mitt is ahead now by 3k

Rove making a good case on Fox for Ohio could still go for Mitt when counting done.

You can’t realistically expect a better mix of circumstances to create a GOP landslide, and look what happened instead. It isn’t about liberal or conservative, it isn’t about policy or record or any thinking reason. There are too many ignorant, media brainwashed drones out there. There is too great a double standard that allows Dems to break the law as they will and hems in the GOP for any little thing.

If Romney pulls it off, and does a good job, that might work change things for the good, but if he loses I think the only thing that will cause a widespread wake up will be for America to feel in full the consequences of this foolishness. It could be economic collapse, it could be war on American soil, it could be a nuclear terrorist strike, but it will hurt bad enough to break people out of their trance.

I am SO looking forward to Obama’s concession speech. Yes, I know it will be full of lies and he will be petty and mean and a sore loser etc. but it won’t change the fact that he lost and I’ll just laugh at his childishness.

A couple years ago some study showed that Mormons are the most conservative-voting religious community in the USA, so they pretty much already are a voting block for the GOP (in spite of attacks on our faith by evangelical conservatives). You do have large numbers of Mormons in liberal states like NY who vote liberal of course, but it is really hard to square Democratic policies with Mormon doctrine.

I'm surprised there hasn't been some MSM paranoid hissy fit accusing Mormon Helping Hands of being the church trying to help Mitt.
