Antonio Hickerson Warning shots may galvanize an opponent into the action you are attempting to deter. They may attack you. That is what seems to have happened in situations in Indiana and South Carolina.  From wave3.com in Indiana: “The victim was able to retrieve a handgun that he owned,” Mull said. “He was able to use that handgun to get Mr. Hickerson out of his residence.” The situation didn't end there. The homeowner, who didn’t want to go on camera, told police he fired two warning shots after Hickerson refused to leave. That's when a struggle started as the...

In 1971, at a small USAR unit in upstate NY, I was assigned a Colt 1911 pistol. It was in the shape you would expect it to have been in after a few wars, etc. There were many obvious non-original parts, worn blueing, etc. The interesting item was that it a real Colt, not another manufacturer, and the serial number was 000086. I don't remember how many digits were in front of the 86, but as I remember, they were all zeros. It was definitely not a 1911A1. The armorer said it was most probably the eighty sixth Colt Automatic...
  • Wisconsin Democrats: Gun Safety Course "Inappropriate" for High Schoolers

Legislation to set up gun safety courses at Wisconsin public high schools is being blasted as “inappropriate” by state Democrats. Other opponents of the bill—including Madison psychotherapist Laurie Asplund—suggest that a gun safety course will only feed a “gun culture” at the schools. According to Fox 6, Rep. Ken Skowronski (R-Dist. 82) is one of the sponsors of the bill that would create the safety courses. Skowronski argues that opponents of gun safety courses have things backward. He says trap and target shooting teams are already popular, and increasingly so. In light of this, the gun safety courses are a...

When elected officials, at both the federal and state levels, propose new gun control laws we are given the same speech every time. Stop crying wolf. It’s not as if armed officers are about to go door to door confiscating everyone’s guns. Well… don’t. Yet another story has emerged from New York State detailing the travails of a citizen who had his firearms taken away by armed officers with a warrant. The NRA-ILA brings us the tale of Don Hall, a 70 year old Vietnam veteran who received an unpleasant visit from Sheriff’s deputies at his Talberg, N.Y. home. They...
  • More Gun Prosecutions with AG Jeff Sessions: Good or Bad?

On March 8th, AG Jeff Sessions ordered all 94 federal prosecutors to prioritize violent crime, using the statutory tools at their disposal.  The first two offenses listed by the Attorney General were 18 U.S.C section 922 (firearms offenses including possession and straw purchasing) and 18 U.S.C. section 924(c) (possession of a firearm during and in relation to a violent crime or drug trafficking offense). The United States Attorney's Offices were urged to identify and target the criminals responsible for violent crime in their districts, and to coordinate with the state and local counterparts.  It appears to be having some...

The U.S. attorney’s office in Chicago, among the busiest in the nation, must set its priorities to fit the times. Twenty years ago, the top priority might have been public corruption. Ten years ago, it might have been white-collar crime. EDITORIAL Today, as John Lausch prepares to take over the job, we urge the U.S. attorney’s office in Chicago to focus on one priority above all others: Ridding our city of illegal guns. Shootings are the scourge of Chicago, so much so that President Donald Trump has mocked our city for its violence, though he has done nothing to combat...

Well, we now know what occupies this clown’s mind. – After the magnificent NRA spokesman Dana Loesch said the organization plans to “fisk” the NYTimes, fake Times reporter Adam Goldman got on Twitter in a panic and wailed that the NRA wanted to sexually assault his newspaper. Mr. Goldman admitted he thought Ms. Loesch had said “fist”. The word “fisk” is a new media term for going through the fake media reports line by line and refuting them. Odd that the Millenial Mr. Goldman is unfamiliar with that word. But then, he obviously has other things on his mind. Oh,...

Feral pigs in Australia are a serious pest. They destroy habitat and native species, and inflict large amounts of damage on crops. They are a favorite target of local hunters who shoot them as often as they can.Few people in the area near Quirindi (200 miles NW of Sydney), eat the wild pigs that are shot. I was puzzled by this, as meat prices are high, and the wild pork that I have eaten in California and Texas was excellent. One of the reasons for a lack of consumption is the feral pig population is a reservoir of brucellosis...

So how many rounds can be fired continuously through a 5.56mm suppressor? Instead of using an AR why not use an M249 Light machine gun to quickly see the result. This is what this person is demonstrating in this fun gun video. Is there a purpose to all this? Probably nothing, Here's what some are saying: What we do know is that people (human behavior) are just amazed at the look of a fully glowing suppressor on an automatic machine gun. See the full suppressed M249 gun footage here.

The signs calling for the repeal of New York’s SAFE Act have become a fixture in the landscape of many parts of upstate New York, including the Finger Lakes. Now a western New York congressman is sponsoring legislation he claims would do what so many Second Amendment supporters have called for since the state Legislature adopted it with virtually no public debate in 2013: Repeal the controversial gun-control legislation called Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act, or SAFE Act. Rep. Chris Collins, R-27 of Clarence, said Monday that he is sponsoring legislation called the Second Amendment Guarantee Act, which he...

With its law banning the concealed carry of firearms except in exceptionally rare cases, it has effectively banned the carry of weapons outside the home. The three judge panel of the D.C. Court of Appeals ruled the law to be an unconstitutional infringement on the right to bear arms. From foxnews.com: D.C. requires gun owners to have a “good reason” to obtain a concealed carry permit. • Who would buy an AR-15 Trigger System?

Here's an aftermarket trigger that doesn’t suck and actually shows some innovation. With all the customizing of AR’s , using a shorter barrel would need to also shorten the gas system to allow it to operate correctly. Operating at this level the bolt carrier system picks up speed. Which winds up beating up the firing component. The fire control components takes a huge beating, specifically the disconnector. After four thousand rounds the pin shears and disconnecter failure occurs. This is the reason manufacturers comes out with trigger system to solve this problem and here's one to consider. KE Arms trigger...

There were nearly 5,000 weapons stacked high on rows of tables and jutting out of barrels inside the Newark Police Communication Center, where state and federal authorities announced the results of New Jersey’s largest gun buyback in state history. The amnesty program held at churches in Newark, Trenton and Camden allowed residents to carry in firearms no-questions-asked. Here’s what they brought. “Assault weapons” is a loaded term, but authorities say the buybacks brought in 129 semi-automatic and automatic weapons, some of which were illegal in New Jersey. “Many of those weapons are designed to pierce body armor, and getting just...

At a hearing Tuesday for five of President Trump’s nominees at the Department of Health and Human Services, a long contentious issue briefly flared: the public health threat posed by gun violence. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) asked Dr. Jerome Adams, Trump’s nominee for surgeon general, what the surgeon general can do to stem gun violence. It was a notable moment because Dr. Vivek Murthy, the former surgeon general, saw his confirmation delayed for a year because of his support for gun-control laws. In response, Adams, the Indiana health commissioner, sought to separate gun violence from guns themselves. “Guns and gun...

PHOENIX (AP) - A customer pulled a gun and shot a man who police say had jumped over the counter of a Phoenix pharmacy and pointed a gun at people while demanding opioids. Authorities didn't fault the customer, saying he was in the right place at the right time to stop the armed robbery attempt Tuesday night, police Sgt. Jonathan Howard said. The suspect has been identified as 30-year-old Stephen Holguin, but police didn't immediately release any other information on him. Howard said the customer has been interviewed and released pending further investigation, but has declined to be identified or...

A 60-year-old Texas woman wasn’t taking any chances Monday morning when she heard two intruders enter her home, grabbing her pistol and shooting one of the would-be thieves dead, police said. The woman, who was not immediately identified, confronted the two armed men after they entered her Harris County home through an open garage door around 11:30 a.m., WTSP reported. Cathy Hanks, a neighbor, said it’s not surprising the woman fired her pistol when she saw a threat in her home, explaining: “That’s really how we are. That’s just Texas.”
