Donald Trump hits back at 'Hillary flunky' Meryl Streep's Golden Globes dig
Fox News ^ | 01/07/2017

Donald Trump wasted no time responding to Meryl Streep's remarks at Sunday night's Golden Globe Awards where the actress gave a somber speech about the President-elect.

Trump called Streep "one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood" in a tweet Monday morning calling her a "Hillary flunky who lost big."

Shortly after the 74th annual Golden Globes wrapped, where "La La Land" and "Moonlight" were the night’s big winners, Trump told the NY Times he had not seen the show or Streep's remarks. He also added that he was "not surprised" for coming under attack from "liberal movie people" especially a "Hillary Lover" like Streep.

He continued to defend his behavior from an interview with a disabled reporter in 2015 in which he insists he didn't mock anyone, a moment Streep had said was an example of Trump's "instinct to humiliate."

"I was never mocking anyone. I was calling into question a reporter who had gotten nervous because he had changed his story," he told the paper in a phone interview after the Globes. "People keep saying I intended to mock the reporter’s disability, as if Meryl Streep and others could read my mind, and I did no such thing."

His tweets Monday morning echoed his thoughts late Sunday night.

I liked Meryl Streep’s work back in the 1970s. Then she became a normal, average actress who took on a lot of roles for a paycheck. Same thing happened with DeNiro.

Acting is the only profession where its members seem to think they are experts on just about everything

Years ago they were considered just one step above prostitutes.

I still think that it's about time that he start ignoring pinpricks like those from Streep.

I'm not sure what to think. I think a certain number of Trump's smack-down responses against the Hollyweird people is what our public culture needs. And notice that he has had a long career of beating them at their own game of TV ratings many times over. It's an area of discourse that these Marxist publicity-terrorists used to have to themselves--when they started sharing their important views on politics with us in the 1960s. Used to be, no politician or religious figure would risk the loss of dignity by getting into a dispute on that level. But there's a cleansing effect when someone like Trump successfully humiliates them on their own turf.

At some point, I agree, too much of that is like swatting at all the fruit flies. But flattening Meryl Streep is good because some misguided liberals think she is an intellectual. Remember when that pretentious tart destroyed the US apple industry for a couple of years by promoting a hoax about Alar?

The problem with Meryl Streep is that despite her very stellar level of education (graduated from one of the best high schools in New Jersey and graduated from both Vassar and Yale), she--being one of the most elite among the Hollywood Left--cannot understand the views of the people in "flyover country." (Indeed, even Hillary Clinton admitted late in the campaign she had trouble relating to middle class because Hillary hung out too much with the Left-leaning people in Hollywood and on Wall Street.)

This is why I highly suggest that the Hollywood Left should--since they're rich enough!--take a full year off from movie/TV show production and just go on a cross-country trip by motor vehicle just to visit the people living in "flyover country." That way, they'll really see the issues that plague the middle class and be a lot more sympathetic to their plight. (Indeed, Michael Medved in his 2004 autobiography said the best education he ever got was hitchhiking across the USA, where he got to experience the life of the average American first hand. Interestingly, he cited an argument with then Hillary Rodham in the early 1970's over the movie Easy Rider, saying his own experience with hitchhiking was completely opposite of what the movie depicted of Americans in "flyover country.")

Unanswered pinpricks like those from streep throat against republicans and conservatives are the biggest reason homobama won. You sure you want to return to such a flawed strategery?

“Flunky and Hillary” in the same sentence...OUCH, that has to smack...ROFL...yep, Love that Trump, he don’t take no crap from nobody, just why we voted for him...

So Ms. Streep will be remembered as “Flunky” and of course “Crooked Hillary”...works every time...

While I support Trump %100, I still think that it's about time that he start ignoring pinpricks like those from Streep.

Nope. That was GW Bush's problem, he never fought back. That Trump takes the fight back to them and highlights their stupidity is awesome. Keep it up DJT!

“I still think that it’s about time that he start ignoring pinpricks like those from Streep.”

+++

It didn’t work for GWB.

GWB never responded, and soon became a Hollywood doormat, then the Hollywood Nazi, and eventually Americas Nazi president and whipping boy.

As disgusting as it is to have to fight these zombies, it has to be done.

In my not so humble oppinion i say DO NOT PLAY BY THEIR RULES! .. The left is a massive cult/propagandist machine. They must be confronted and if need be their apparatus dismantled.
Since the DNC, PP, NEA, AARP, Hollywood and MSM are mostly one in the same they must all be treated like one and the same.

Trump called Streep "one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood"

No, that would be Emma Stone.

You've getting a lot of (respectful) flak here, so permit me to weigh in on your side.

Folks who say that Trump should not ignore Streep have a point. Bush II ignored his critics, and it just got worse and worse.

But this Streep-Trump dust-up is like the old school-yard "You're stupid!"..."No, you're stupid" exchange. Trump changed no minds here. And I doubt if he even slowed Streep down.

Donald, are you out there? Please check out some old Reagan clips on YouTube. The Gipper knew how to punch back using sly humor. Not only did Reagan score points, it won him admirers. And it's not that hard to do.

Trump is not going to achieve Reagan wit in every tweet. That’s not even realistic.

What is important is the quickness of the response. He is right to push back immediately.

In my opinion.

I think tweeting is one of Trump’s hobbies...don’t think it will stop.
I hope it doesn't stop. But you can bet the left does.

Anyone who thinks it's only a hobby isn't paying attention to all of the positive (MAGA) responses by corporate America to his "tweeting"...It's not a hobby it's pure genius.

True enough. But Trump plus a small team dedicated to the task could do it. Why Trump will not hire me as a senior adviser I'll never know.

I didn’t hear his name mentioned once during her speech. It’d be funny if trump said, “oh Meryl talking about Hillary again.”

Absolutely. Anytime the left says Trump needs to do this or that, they're just trying to set him up for the kill. It's like Muslims are always ready to call a cease fire until they get their guns reloaded.
