self-evident and you can tell by the remarks here and the declining ratings of the oscars people are tuned out. You would think Trump has bigger fish to fry. Let his surrogates handle to like his campaign manager did this morning.

When did these award shows become a platform for celebrities to strut around doing their virtue-signaling stunts?

They have always been subject to exploitation. When Marlon Brando won Best Actor in 1973, he sent some Native American woman to accept his award and she used the podium to rant about some soil injustice.

Award shows producers used to go to great lengths to cut off these stunts, because they knew they were poison to the industry and future of the award shows. Not so much anymore, apparently. I assume Streep knew ahead of time she was going to receive this career achievement award, so she had ample time to plan her rant. I don't watch award shows any longer, as I do not find the bashing of my values to be entertaining.

This is not president worthy. His campaign manager responded this morning. Doesn’t he have something else more important to do?

SHE (the Streep) was repeating a LIE...THAT needs responding to...how he worded it is up for debate

yup

We can all second-guess how Trump responds... but I applaud the fact that he responds quickly to obviously lies.

I think tweeting is one of Trump’s hobbies...don’t think it will stop.

Range, agents, physical range of characters. I said maybe and I think there’s an argument. All of this is subjective, but I think it’s clear she is not as bad as many here try to paint her

While I support Trump %100, I still think that it's about time that he start ignoring pinpricks like those from Streep.

I disagree...while it might be prudent to not respond to every sling and arrow thrown his way, by letting leftists know he won't just sit back and take their ridiculous abuse, he avoids the fate of George W. Bush, who charicturchured (sp?) as a buffon. Since he didn't respond, it stuck, and the same thing will happen to Trump if he doesn't fight back. Besides, why should leftists be allowed to get away with their damned lies?

Why does Streep want half the country to hate and resent her? Not too smart!,

I agree. On the other hand, the Trump half of the country didn't even watch the Golden Globes. We were watching an old Andy Griffith rerun, or maybe a bow-hunting show.

not criticizing his tweeting, just his selection of topics this morning. I like the tweets and what it says to the Fake News media.

At one time I might have agreed, but Hollywood is an evil place and they need to be called out on it. We have elevated the Court Jester to be King, and they need to be taken down a peg or two in the Cultural Hierarchy.

"I don't watch award shows any longer, as I do not find the bashing of my values to be entertaining."

Another reason for my not watching is that I'm only motivated to see about four or five movies a year, if that. And I'm totally out of touch with pop music, apart from the stuff that you just can't avoid via exposure to pop culture.

“...I still think that it’s about time that he start ignoring pinpricks like those from Streep.”

Actually I am glad he responds to every attack. Liberal Hollywoods attacks on conservatives and Republicans has been very effective over the years.

In our celebrity obsessed culture, too many people (and i particular low info voters) are influenced how to vote by these people.

A prime example is in 2008 Sarah Palin told Charlie Gibson in their interview that from certain points in Alaska you can see Russia. And that is true. But Tina Fwy on Saturday Night Live did her Sarah Palin parody and said “I cn see Russia from my house. And guess what. When many people were asked, they really thought Sarah Palin said she could see Russia from her house.

Most Americans are not well informed like us at FR. Their opinions are swayed by the media and their favorite Holly clown actors and many Republicans have gotten a bad rap because of these people.

I am glad Donald Trump will not take any attacks laying down the W. Bush did. He hits back every time and it will be highly effective.

Let his surrogates handle an actor speaking at an awards show. If he wants to address the evils of Hollywood, he could do 30-45 minutes on it.

I find it hypocritical that she said Hollywood is the safe guard of truth when they twist and change history to make movies more liberal or in their eyes “entertaining.” And if someone like D’nesh D’Sousa makes a documentary they try to squelch it.

"I was never mocking anyone. I was calling into question a reporter who had gotten nervous because he had changed his story," he told the paper in a phone interview after the Globes. "People keep saying I intended to mock the reporter’s disability, as if Meryl Streep and others could read my mind, and I did no such thing."

I believe him. I saw clips of him using the same flailing-hands gesture when imitating other people, such as Ted Cruz. I myself use that gesture when imitating people who are dissembling or making excuses for themselves.

Moreover, the disabled reporter DOES NOT exhibit spastic hand movements or head-twitching movements when he speaks. I was real disappointed when National Review jumped on the bandwagon on this issue.

Has it sullied him so far? Nope. Tweet away Mr President and follow your own mind. Let us Americans know what you are thinking. Loving it. We have always wanted a transparent administration and here we have it.
