Worst Democrat Blowout in 88 Years!
Vanity | 11/21/2016 | Self

Posted on 11/21/2016 6:16:39 AM PST by CptnObvious

According to the Internet, the last time the Republicans had the Presidency and both houses of congress was 1928. That's 88 years ago!

In 2010 President Obama called it a "Shellacking" when he lost the US House. When he lost the US Senate on top of that in 2014 the press said he was unrepentant.

Now Obama and the Democrats have lost all three plus lost control in more state legislatures and governorships than in a long time.

In short, the Democrats had a Blowout and the Question is whether they will learn from it and turn from the hard leftist path they have been on with Obama.

So far, it doesn't look like it.

I thought Bush 2 had a brief period to play kissy with the Dems. Seems like Eisenhower had both houses in 1953.

Yes he did.

And he would have gotten more judges appointed had McCain not sold them out when they were ready to excercise the nuclear option. Anyone remember the “Gang of 8” compromise? When asked why he did it in the face of unprecedented democrat obstruction McCain said it was because they didn’t want the democrats to do it to them if the shoe were on the other foot.

Fast forward to when the shoe was on the other foot and that is exactly what Reid did. McCain was eerily silent.

Bottom line, we all have high hopes for Mr. Trump but the broken institution that is the Senate will sabotage him at every step. He must be prepared to name names and push for passage of his key agenda points through reconciliation.

Even yesterday Schumer was up to his usual tricks of using the word “mainstream” and wishcasting that Trump really won because he embraced the democrat agenda. Typical, “hey, we really didn’t lose but won” Jedi mind trick garbage that only week minded fools like McCain fall for.

I believe he had both houses from 2002-2006. I also remember(I think) that for a while he had 55 in the Senate. That period in my mind was terribly wasted.

2016 map exhibits the Republican Party expansion. 2014 map is Congressional results when the Democrats got slaughtered.

2016 map was better than we could have ever imagined.

Trump and GOP congress have 18 months to downscale the Fed govt. Then the next election cycle is underway. They need to work very hard & fast.

The correct stat is that the last time a NEW Republican president came into office with both houses controlled by his own party was Herbert Hoover in the election of 1928. W came into office with a divided Congress.

"Once in a few generation opportunity for Trump, McConnell and Ryan. I would take:"

1. Demolish both Obamacare and Dodd-Frank.

2. 2 young conservative justices on the SCOTUS to establish a 6-3 balance for at least 20 years. 7-2 would be icing on the cake.

3. Tax reduction and reform at all levels.

4. Drill, baby, drill — bigly.

5. Undo all Obama executive orders.

6. A wall, and all that comes with minimizing immigration, except for those who are coming here with a high level of skills we need.

7. Rebuild and bigly modernize the military.

8. Undo the Iran deal.

And don't forget number 9. Start the process to rescind the 17th. amendment...

This says Bush had both houses from January to June 2001 until Jim Jeffords switched to the Dems.

It says he had both houses again from January 2003 to January 2007.

I have no idea why Fox and others keep saying this hasn’t happened for 80 years.

Public School Reform - blow it up and enact a voucher system, money follows the student not the teachers union.

It is possible that they are qualifying it to be “an incoming President and Full Party Congress.....”

I really don’t know but as the statement is now, it is wrong.

We’ve been picking up State Legislatures, Governorships, city councils - - down to dog catchers.

It’s not just the House, Senate and Presidency. It’s everything. People are sick of democrats...across the board. Sick to death of them.

Then again, that may be what passes for journalism these days. Millennials sitting on their ass in front of a keyboard taking what Wikipedia says as the truth. Go figure.

In short, the Democrats had a Blowout and the Question is whether they will learn from it and turn from the hard leftist path they have been on

In short, the Republicans had a Blowout win and the Question is whether they will learn from it and turn from the weak-kneed, deal making, reach across the aisle, go along to get along, GOPe leaders and embrace the idea of "Winning With Ideas The American People Support." Time will tell.

Mitt Romney for Secretary of State? Seriously? Haven't we had enough dolts in that position?

Just remember that we had no other choice so we voted for least damaging choice.

Unfortunately we didn’t have history to look back on but never be ashamed of a vote made with the info available at the time.

We got it right this time!

For a few months before Jeffords switched in 2001, it was a 50-50 Senate with Cheney the tie breaker.
