And quite possibly, there would be a pan-”Christian” ecumenical movement — in the name of the Beast. All manner of false-Christ “fun” would ensue.
Yes they will. I will however point out that the Catholic Church having been the leadership if you will in the apostate teachings many of which have been retained by most of the Protestant organizations stands out in prophesy. To whom much is given much is required if you will. It does say the whore and her daughters. The daughters being the Protestant organization that came out of the Catholic Church.
>>What grace the Roman Catholic church had will be gone... but the same for the Southern Baptists, etc.<<
No doubt about that. Those who think that attending or belonging is the key have a shock coming. Going through the motions is something all too many rely on.
The pollution is older than the Catholic-Orthodox split, really.
That’s why I see “coming out” as a matter of attitude. And a Catholic could do that without changing the building he or she worships in. As is said elsewhere, God is letting the tares sit with the wheat because that’s better for the wheat until it is ready.
Its already started. Look at how most of the churches are beginning to have cross denomination get togethers. Muslims praying at the Vatican was a huge step.
Ill agree on the attitude but there will need to be action as well I believe. Incorporating paganism will not be tolerated.
I think we should be sad Bears rather than cynical ones, at seeing such things.
Just when we think we’ve nailed purity in our back yard... oops, we haven’t.
That really is about demonic gods.
The doctrines of saints fall into an area that is too murky for me to pull apart. The idea that Christ won’t do something good for the world without his Mom calling for it is a bit much. I think that glorifies man over God. But is there such a thing as a heavenly prayer committee so to speak... maybe. We wouldn’t need to count on it, however. There’s nothing in the bible that says we need to count on it.
I agree on the sad. The Cynical moniker came about when I began to have questions about most of what I was taught growing up in a conventional church. A very staunch Christian father and mother for sure but when I began to see scriptural error in the teachings of the church I became Cynical of all I had been taught and began an intense personal study. When I began to take nothing at face value the term Cynical seemed to attach itself.
Pagans have many gods for different areas of life. When the Catholic Church wanted to bring them into the fold what better way than to replace their gods with saints? >>But is there such a thing as a heavenly prayer committee so to speak... maybe.<<
We go directly to the Father in Jesus name. When we approach the Throne of Father God He sees Jesus just as a banker would see the original person who gave power of attorney to someone to do business in his name. Is there any more direct than that? I think not.
Well, the Pharisees had that kind of problem. They posed and presumed to stand between God and man by their own wills, and Jesus called that out as nonsense.
A revamp of rabbinical Judaism in a Christian flavor isn’t what Christ, what God has in mind, but that’s the heavy tendency of fallen mankind. People are scared of freedom in Christ. It’s almost like the atheists who say what, are you leaning on something you can’t see?
And there isn’t anything better, and the bible itself robustly supports the personal Christ paradigm.
A heavenly prayer committee could at best serve a minor role. And the concept could easily be turned to that of actual dependency, which buggers the entire concept (pardon the expression). No, we depend on Christ. We still DO pray for one another.
The carnal mind. I was thinking about that today as I was working on my shop. (Im finally getting to build my shop on this land we purchased --- Wooo hooo!!) Any way, so much of the teaching today in churches springs from carnal understanding of scripture. I was thinking specifically of the prosperity gospel in that scripture does say we are overcomers and children of the King. But Christ is not King of this world just yet. We are over comers in the spiritual realm but not necessarily in this present physical world.
Well, the idea that prosperity has got to mean $$ is a mistake. That sort of prosperity gospel is nonsense. But there is prosperity in terms of blessings of all kinds and the capability to see and enjoy the blessings. Billionaires can be bored, and the man with $5 to his name can be content.
Also, I sometimes reflect on how carnal minds got carnal. I believe it truly was through consensually sharing the experience with Adam and Eve, on some pre-incarnate plane that the bible doesn’t spell out, and doesn’t need to. Maybe if it did, we’d get all lost in mysticism trying to figure it out ourselves. Anyhow, we’ve bowed to evil, brutal spirits that make illusory boasts against the Lord that they can never make lasting. The way it plays out in this world, we call it carnal. The question God has offered us now is whether to allow Him to rid us of their dominion, and the process for that involves suffering. But He, too, suffers, and heroically at that. God isn’t aloof from any one of us; it’s a matter of each of us being more or less blind.
Carnal is viewing all things from a this world perspective. Christ said we live in the spirit. Christians should be spiritually minded as Paul said rather than carnally minded meaning we view things from a spiritual perspective rather then a physical this world perspective.
It can also be expressed as, “This world is not my home.”
The unsaved world acts as if this world ought to be their home, and at best they are helped to do so by religion. Anyone who thinks otherwise is dismissed as kooky.
The feel good Osteen types come to mind.
There tumbles another bucket of broad brushes.
And really Bear, I mean it about the broad brushes. I see fairly balanced Christians getting good benefit out of Osteen’s spiritual pep talks, because they know how to put it all in proper context.
And there are the worldly minded kooks who follow along shallowly, if even saved at all.
I wish I could say something better has to be true about ANY congregation or denomination on earth. My recent experience with what is overall a pretty good Baptist congregation has shown me that yes, pockets of self righteousness exist and even flourish in the midst of it. That’s just another way of being carnal. If I walked away every single time I saw that, I’d be walking all over Nashville.
Not sure what you meant by that.
