Damascus lashes out at Egyptian president, Muslim Brotherhood after Morsi severs ties with Bashar Assad's regime.
Syria on Sunday harshly criticized Cairo's decision to sever diplomatic relations with Damascus, accusing Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi of joining a US and Israel-led conspiracy against Syria.
Morsi said he had cut all diplomatic ties with Damascus on Saturday and called for a no-fly zone over Syria, pitching the most populous Arab state firmly against President Bashar Assad.
Syria's official SANA news agency quoted a government source as saying that Morsi was implementing the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood, who has called for jihad against the Syrian regime, and ignoring the aspirations of the Egyptian people.
[snip]
[Morsi Said]
"We [Sunni MB of Syria] stand against Hezbollah [Shia's of Lebanon] in its aggression against the Syrian people," Morsi said. "Hezbollah must leave Syria - these are serious words. There is no space or place for Hezbollah in Syria."
Morsi said Syria was the target of "a campaign of extermination and planned ethnic cleansing fed by regional and international states", partly in reference to Iran, though he did not name the Shi'ite Islamic Republic.
[that's the pot calling the kettle black for sure, as the "Syrian opposition"] is in reality a Sunni & MB putsch]

That's the pot calling the kettle black for sure, as the "Syrian opposition" is in reality a Sunni & MB putsch in Syria, as Syrian Christians and non-Sunni Syrians know.
Of course both sides, looking for geopolitical and regional support play the "Israel" card.

It would appear Morsi is taking a position based on the age-old denominational conflict inside Islam rather than some regional calculation. This puts Egypt at odds with Iran, Russia and China.

“It would appear Morsi is taking a position based on the age-old denominational conflict inside Islam rather than some regional calculation.”
No “appearance” to it and Morsi is fooling no one in the Middle East, only gullible westerners. The Syrian phony “civil war” IS a proxy war in the age-old Shia-Sunni conflict inside Syria. It has Sunni radical fundamentalist Islamists Wahabi Saudis & their friends the MB on one side, and Assad’s support from Shia radical fundamentalist Islamist theocrats in Iran on the other side.
Morsi is totally aware that Assad has been totally aware that (a) the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood and the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood are as close as two peas in a pod, (b) the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood is among the core of the leaders of the externally engineered, externally funded, externally supported “Syrian opposition” movement (over a decade old as OUR “regime change” project).
What the western public has been unaware of is we are making the same kind of mistake in Syria that we made in Afghanistan in 1979-1989 - making alliances of convenience with the wrong people, and helping to build up forces that will be our “allies” not one minute longer than it takes for THEM to obtain THEIR goals - not ours.

Actually it is Iran and Russia. China is stoking the fire so the US is dumb enough to put their foot in just like Iraq was a Chinese strategic trap. Easy to get in, but nation building is a bitch. Each time we step in, more money is drained from our deficit treasury, US public will gets drained, and our military is worn out with broken equipment and soldier suicides from the deployments. After it is all over with, the Chinese will move in and get lucrative contracts for rebuilding infrastructure and oil/gas fields. I say keep out, let Assad win and then let him contend with Turkey, Eqypt, Saudis, Gulf emirates and his majority Sunnis population. Sunnis Arabs are not going to sit by and let herectic Shiites kill Sunni Syrians. This is the great Sunni vs Shiite Islamic civil war and it is wise for the US to keep out.

"Its always Sunni in Alexandria" Not under the Fatamid Calephs (a series of Shia Calephs) from 969-1171. The Fatamids: "The Fatimid Caliphate's religious ideology originated in an Ismaili Shia movement launched in Syria by the ninth Imam Abd Allah al-Akbar.[6] He claimed descent through Ismail, the seventh Shia imam, from the Prophet's daughter Fatimah and her husband ʻAlī ibn-Abī-Tālib, the first Shīʻa Imām, hence the name al-Fātimiyyūn "Fatimid". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatimid_Caliphate#Rise_of_the_Fatimids after which Egypt was returned to Sunni control when Saladin conquered Egypt but that history, known very well to both Morsi & Assad, is not lost on either of them; as Muslims, the past is always part of or a cause for, today and tomorrow.

Wrong, money is to be made. The war-hawk republicans are at the forefront of it.

We certainly have no dog in that race but it's almost as we have two, both dogs in the race. We have the ultimate satisfaction that as these savages go at each other in a take-no-prisoners attitude no matter what the outcome we win.
It's a dream grudge-match for America.
