Obama to Mexico: A lot of the guns here came from us
Hotair ^ | 05/04/2013 | Ed Morrissey

Excuse me, Barack Obama actually said “the United States,” but the headline would be more accurate. While the President told an audience in Mexico that “Most of the guns used to commit violence here in Mexico come from the United States,” he somehow forgot to mention that thousands of them came specifically under the auspices of the ATF and the Department of Justice during his first term (via Real Clear Politics):

And we also recognize that most of the guns used to commit violence here in Mexico come from the United States. (Applause.) I think many of you know that in America, our Constitution guarantees our individual right to bear arms, and as President I swore an oath to uphold that right and I always will. But at the same time, as I’ve said in the United States, I will continue to do everything in my power to pass common-sense reforms that keep guns out of the hands of criminals and dangerous people. That can save lives here in Mexico and back home in the United States. It’s the right thing to do. (Applause.) So we’ll keep increasing the pressure on gun traffickers who bring illegal guns into Mexico. We’ll keep putting these criminals where they belong — behind bars.

Really? So what’s going on with the investigation into Operation Fast & Furious? Last we heard, the Attorney General of the United States was obstructing Congressional access to materials related to the ATF and DoJ operation, even in the face of Congressional subpoenas and a contempt of Congress citation. Those firearms were used in hundreds of murders in Mexico and at least two in the United States, but so far Obama’s own Cabinet official won’t cooperate in the investigation into how the administration put those weapons into the hands of those criminals.

Michael Ramirez puts the disconnect between Obama’s rhetoric and actions in its proper perspective:

No, they didn’t, largely....them Mexicans drug lords don’t shoot semi-autos....they go for the full-on-Auto-Monty. It’s true, some of them weapons may be American, but they’re American because some wigged out, panty wadded liberal Administration communist gave some Marxist Mexican group so many greenbacks they partied and went out and got some REAL AKs, M-4s whatever.....for the pistolas? Hell, they probably have a full-up machine shop for auto Glocks, etc.

Strange how rarely he uses the words "United States".

He usually says "my country" or "our country". I'm still not exactly sure which country he considers "his" country.

The man is a disgrace to his race. The human race.

“A lot of the guns here came from us”

Well... I’m pretty sure that they were either confiscated from ‘us’, or our tax money paid for them, so whether he said U.S. or ‘us’, it’s true.

Mexico ‘got’ extradition of guns as trials for U.S. runners.

Obomba told Mexico that a lot of the guns their drug cartels use to kill people that try to stop them "came from us." O then donned his sombrero and did the Mexican hat dance on the podium.

CHICAGO L/E, PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG---Obomba told Mexican officials that a lot of the guns their drug cartels use to kill people that try to stop them "came from us."

Mexican cartels dispatch agents deep inside US - spread into non-border states (NY Post excerpt)

CHICAGO (AP) — Mexican drug cartels whose operatives once rarely ventured beyond the US border are dispatching some of their most trusted agents to live and work deep inside the United States — an emboldened presence that experts believe is meant to tighten their grip on the world's most lucrative narcotics market and maximize profits.

If left unchecked, authorities say, the cartels' move into the American interior could render the syndicates harder than ever to dislodge and pave the way for them to expand into other criminal enterprises such as prostitution, kidnapping- and-extortion rackets and money laundering.

In Mexico, the cartels are known for a staggering number of killings — more than 50,000, according to one tally. Beheadings are a signature. So far, cartels don't appear to be directly responsible for large numbers of slayings in the United States, though the Texas Department of Public Safety reported 22 killings and five kidnappings in Texas at the hands of Mexican cartels from 2010 through mid- 2011. Still, police worry that increased cartel activity could fuel heightened violence.--SNIP--

In Chicago, narco/cop Commander James O'Grady, said street-gang disputes over turf account for most of the city's uptick in murders last year, when slayings topped 500 for the first time since 2008.

Although the cartels aren't dictating the territorial wars, they are the source of drugs. Riley's assessment is stark: He argues that the cartels should be seen as an underlying cause of Chicago's disturbingly high murder rate. "They are the puppeteers," he said. "Maybe the shooter didn't know and maybe the victim didn't know that. But if you follow it down the line, the cartels are ultimately responsible."

Right. We won’t even bring charges against eric boy holder. Meh-ee-ko actually stands a better chance of charging anybody. Not that they’ll get anybody. That is unless the greyhound is headed down the road.

The only reason Mexico manufactures anything is because a US company set up a assembly operation there.

Mexico doesn't have an indigenous firearms industry for the same reasons it doesn't have an indigenous computer chip industry.

It's not even that he hasn't charged Holder. In this interview with Univision, he completely covers Holder's ass and says the operation began under his predecessor and that when Holder found out about it, he ended it and those responsibe for it were held accountable.

In other words, he lied through his effing teeth.

You know it and he knows it. What don’t YOU get? It’s simple. He knows the American people don’t care so he’s taunting us.

They make tequila and Kahlua there. Doesn't that count for something? /s

He also blamed America for drug use.

Of course, he didn't say that he was one of those drug users!

In his book, he claimed to be on drugs most of high school.

Limbaugh's Theorem - corollary: It's America's fault , but it's not Obama's.
