Mitt Romney has moved out to an eight-point lead over President Obama in North Carolina after the two men were virtually tied a month ago.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the Tar Heel State shows the putative Republican nominee earning 51% of the vote to Obamas 43%. Two percent (2%) like some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided.
Thats a big change from last month when Romney posted a narrow 46% to 44% lead over the president in Rasmussen Reports first survey of the race in North Carolina. Democrats have signaled North Carolinas importance as a key swing state by deciding to hold their national convention in Charlotte this summer.

Let’s just hope this trend keeps snowballing into a full scale avalanche of ‘real hope and change.’
I don’t think Obama got any votes in NC by embracing homosexual marriage. I don’t like Romney at all, but I really, really, really hate Obama.
A primadonna co-worker of mine from North Carolina was bitching last night about how he was going to leave the state because of the marriage vote. He’s straight and attends church but believes gays should be able to get married, well, except for in church.
I never cease to be amazed by idiots who can’t articulate or defend their own opinion.
LOL OMG this is bad news for no drama Obama!
Romney’s got my vote here in MO... while I am not enthused about voting for Romney, I’m stoked about kicking the first gay president out...
If the GOP had a useful candidate, these vote margins would be more like 65 to 35. That is what galls me to no end. We are probably going to have a done to the last illegal vote night or week to determine who won when it should have been a shut out.
Meanwhile, why the Odope is dropping in the polls, our distinguished losers in the house and senate have agreed to have a non partisan meeting with him over the budget. Give me a break, they need throw him a lifeline now? Let him sink in his own cesspool of narcism and folly. Nope, the crier and the ten pin will go up there and tacitly admit they have been obstructing his grand plans and for that they are sorry. They never learn...this is just like Ryan being invited to be present when his lordship gave that college address and proceeded to undress him in public. Of course, for most of the GOP leadership if a squirll ran up one pants leg and came down the other, the squirill would not find any nuts.
Make sure you provide him a list of the other 31 states who have enacted the same policy at the polls. He has a pretty limited number of options if he chooses to move.
That’s more like it, my adopted home state! I always knew it was an extreme case, and it was only 12,000 votes.
Reaal Clear Politics on their Electoral Map just moved Wisconsin froms Leans Obama to Toss-Up. This is based on a Daily Kos poll (!) which shows Obama as +1 in Wisc.

Yeah, but what happens if bozo is down by 15 points before the DNC convention?
Are you sure he is straight?
Hey I agree with you, it would be an epic blowout if we ran a real conservative running. But Obama going down in flames is a good thing for America, I want to see that no talent, hack go down and suffer. Economically these four years have been the worst of my life. I can live to fight another day under Romney, I can’t under Obama.
I agree with everything you wrote. I’ll add that with respect to the homo’s homo stance, he really screwed the pooch. I don’t buy the “half of America accepts homosexuality / same sex marriage” crap. I think it’s a LOT lower, but the PC environment makes them less likely to say how they truly feel about it.
I wonder what the Ohio polling looks like?
Yep. I surely wish I had another choice, but it is what it is.
I wonder what a Romney presidency will bring...oh well, I know what another 4 years of an Obama presidency will bring.
The Military and Supreme Court cannot take 4 more years of Obama.
Eric Holder needs to be banished from whence he came.
So disgusted with Obama-I cringe when I hear his voice or see his photo, or he appears on TV.
Thanks for the laugh this morning!
(imho) If the trend goes nationwide and 15% down at convention time and the trend looks to go lower, Katie bar the door .... a convention free for all and zer0 thrown out on on street? Don’t know. Things could go this way is my guess. The demonRATs are growing tired of being thrown under the bus, perhaps?
If 0bama is “primaried”, this will likely break the 90+% hold on the “black vote” that the ‘rats have depended on.
Getting that block to vote nearer the levels of the general voting population, along with voter ID, will put the ‘rats out of power for the foreseeable future.
Like said, Don’t know, but sensing something in the air. It could be own nose. Just don’t know.

wow~!!!!
2010 was the warm up for whats coming.
FFFUUBBBOOO!!!!

Join the crowd, I don't know any freeper who had Romney as their first choice (or second or third or...) but a few seem to like this idea:

The recent tea party primary winners that upset the GOPe candidates will help hold Romneys feet to the fire.
I really can’t stand to see or listen to Obama. I can take about 30 seconds, then my blood pressure rises and I just have to change the channel. I literally won’t be able to survive four more years of Obama.
Just as I thought.
The SECOND I heard that Obama had come out of the closet.. I immediately thought he just lost North Carolina and Virginia and probably the election.
Obama is making Carter look like a genius.
Rasmussen leans slightly Republican as a pollster, but not 9 points worth. Obama HAS to A) Start a war with Iran, B) Stop the election, or C) Commit voter fraud on an unprecedented level.
The Scott Walker effect?
This is excellent news!!!
War on Women, the dog stuff, the Mitt bullying story, randomly going after his wife, none of their attempts at framing the debate seem to be working.
I think people vote with their pocket books at the end of the day.
I also think Mitt’s blandness may be helping him. He really does come off as generic Republican canidate.
The MSM will compare every future Pres to Obama and clense his record in the process.
So no, we'll never hear the end of the liberal messiah.
And 2000 years from now they'll find Obama' stone tablets.
It is, considering:
1. Obama won it in 2008,
2. Blacks' opposition to homo "marriage" bolstered that 61% number, and
3. The lion's share of the undecided will flow to the challenger.
If the Recall of Scott Walker, in WI, fails on June 5th, I guarantee you that it will deflate the Dem voter turn-out on November 6th. Depression does strange things to people. I expect Obama to lose Wisconsin.
What are the chances the Dems will boot Obama for Hillary before their Convention?
I just don’t get this freeper meme that says if we had another candidate we would be up 65 to 35 over obama, instead of the 2 or 3 points Romney is up now.
Romney already thumped Newt and Santorum among Republicans, and it goes against all logic and common sense to say Newt or Santorum would be doing better with independents or conservative democrats than Romney is right now.
This 65 to 35 meme to me just sounds like sour grapes coming from freepers who still can’t get over the fact their guy or woman lost in the primaries.
Besides there is way too many minorities, gays, socialists wanna bees, and far left liberals that automatic rat votes for ANY republican to win 65% of the vote. The current demographics of this country just wont allow it.
There is not going to be any brokered convention. No 3rd party candidate is going to get more votes than Obama. The reality is republicans have one choice if they want to beat Obama and thats Romney.
I know some freepers feel that we would be better off with 4 more years of obama than Romney. Well if thats you and if you feel like we would be better off with Obama stacking the supreme court with 2 or 3 more radical libs than by all means help obama defeat Romney, but dont give me the other meme that Romney would appoint libs judges just like Obama. Romney might not be a solid ultra conservative but he certainly is not some far left lib either.
Yeah sure Romney said and did some fairly non-conservative things while gov. of the peoples republic of massachusetts, but afterall that is probably the most socialist liberal state in the country even moire so that california, so if he didnt put on a moderate face their he would never have come close to being elected gov. there, and mass would have been stuck with a ultra lib gov instead of a moderate one.
Romney is not going to nominate lib judges to the supreme court because the state of mass will not be the people he has to answer to. the people he has to answer to will be the conservatives, so he will want to keep conservatives happy by appointing conservative judges. Just like obama will want to keep libs happy by appointing lib judges, and throw in the fact obama will have 4 years of not having to worry about what the country thinks. we will have a 4 year non stop episode of socialists and gays gone wild.
I also hear some freepers say it doesnt matter if romney appoints the right judges or enacts the right policies because he wont be doing it because it’s whats in his heart, he will only be doing it because he knows he has to pacify conservatives to get relected in 2016. Well who cares why he does it ????? As long as romney did the right things I could care less if he is doing it with a pure heart or a oppurtunists heart. the bottom line is he would be doing the right things which is much more than what you can say for what obama would do. i swear some freepers act like their romneys wife or girlfriend with all this pure of heart stuff.
My message to freepers is keep your eye on the ball and remember whats really important and thats beating obama.
I really cant stand to see or listen to Obama.

Same here. The very sight of him or the sound of his voice makes me ill.
I heard a lot of people say that if Obama doesn’t win North Carolina, then he can’t win re-election. “The won” will be “the loser”. or “Won and done”
I predict, right now, and all FReepers can hold me to this:
After the GOP Convention, in August, Romney will be up, at least, 15 points over Obama in the polls. Remember: You heard it from me first.
Better be careful, you will soon be noticed, and offense mounted to remove you, (again?).
one helluva a great post

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
From your lips to God’s ears. If Ubama loses Wisconsin in Nov, that would almost surely seal his fate.
If they are forward looking, the chances will be nil.
If they boot ‘bammers, they’ll have the blacks voting in numbers more representative of the general voting population.
That, combined with vote fraud control, will be the end of their power for decades.
NC will not back Obama again, the very idea it would was laughable from the get go.
Obama will not win a single state he lost in 2008, the question is which ones will he lose.
NC definitely is one he will not carry in 12. I’d say Indiana and Ohio are also will be lost by Obama. That’s 44 votes to the R if that is correct.
Republicans need 270 for the win, wich is 67 more than 08. NC, Ohio and Indian add up to 44, so 23 more votes are needed. By redistricting, R is going to gain 6 votes even if vote stayed the same, so that puts you at 50 of the 67 votes needed to win.
So if OH, NC and IN do to Red, and its not likely any red state from 08 is going to go blue, this election boils down to 17 electoral votes. If FL and OH were to both go red, its over. If VA goes red, and any other state with that combo and its effectively over.
I’d personally keep an eye on WI, IA, VA and yes, I’d even say PA at this point are possibilities. I’m sure the focus is mostly going to be on OH and FL, since you take NC, OH and FL and you have 66 (with census adjustsments of 2010 included) of the 67 needed to flip if everything else stays the same. However I think far more than just those will flip
I don’t think the electoral college victory will be as domineering as the popular vote victory will be for the republicans, simply due to how the population is distributed, but the ovrall popular vote is going to be a routing. The electoral routing may not be so extreme, but I really don’t see a calculus with Obama over 43-45% of the popular vote tops. And frankly I can see caluclus where he doesn’t even get 40%
Once “gay marriage” is legitimized, then it’s a very short next step to forcing churches to perform same sex marriages, or lose their tax-exempt status, IMHO, of course.
I have assumed from day 1, that the Dems in WI turned the state red with their antics in the next national election. They’ve shot their entire wad on nonsense, and frankly the typical folks of WI are I suspect sick of it.
I believe WI will be solidly red this election cycle, but I haven’t seen any polling from the state, so I haven’t predicted this yet, other than I think it will go red.
With electronic voting having no paper trail, unprecedented voting fraud and stealing an election is most definitely not out of the realm of possibilities.
