Knife amnesties have no real impact on reducing knife crime, according to a Metropolitan Police report.
An eight-week Met Police amnesty over the summer showed that, after a slight dip in knife-related crime, levels were back to normal within weeks, it said.

How about, "After a slight dip in knife related crime ..."
wait for it ...
" ... levels were back to normal within weeks"
Back to normal! Well, not funny ...
Heh heh.
More proof that socialists really are dumber than rocks.
I am waiting for the fork amnesty; I plan on making quite a bundle that day....
I have a drawer full of those chopsticks they give you with Chinese take-out, etc.
Could someone ping me when the "stick" amenesty starts?
I want to buy a new SUV.
Thanks
There was a time when well-equipped people were expected to have a small folding knife handy for mundane cutting chores. I can't even count the number of times each day that I turn to the helpful tool clipped to the top of my pocket. The notion of a 3" knife having primary use as a "weapon" is simply outrageous and the fantasy of socialists.

"...Pre-amnesty there were an average of 34.9 daily knife offences in London, dropping to 31 in the amnesty. Six weeks later, that figure was 34.2..."
How much does everyone want to make a bet that those "knife offences" included innocent people walking down the street with a utilitarian Spyderco Delica clipped to their pocket? Police likely appeared out of nowhere to snag the hapless "offender" of the laws so they were "doing something" about crime.

What's next - a Spork buy-back program?
Knife amnesty.
Next: Rock amnesty.
That very popular knife was picked as one that is utilized by hundreds of thousands of people around the world countless times per day. They now have the latest improved version called the Delica 4 that addresses the things you've mentioned. My preference is for Benchmade, Microtech, and Busse and I've happily owned several Spyderco models in the past. Resist the urge to use the knife as a prybar and you'll likely save your tips.

LOL
No complaints.
I keep wanting to buy a new knife, but since this one works so well I don't really have a reason to.

After they've taken all the guns, what did they expect to happen?
After the knives are eradicated, they'll be having to have "cricket bat amnesty".
Somewhere around the year 2050 we'll be reading stories from London about how "ladies' handbag violence is up over 400%".
rofl. can't help it, there's never a prybar around when you need one. :)
i've owned a number of spydercos and loved them all, it was just that one model that didn't work for me. i relaced it with a different spyderco with a much thicker blade, never had a problem. currently i'm carrying a crkt m16. love the way it opens.
Daddy always said, "Never go to a gun fight with a knife. You'll lose."
You could always purchase a second folding knife purely for sake of variety. One of my friends typically uses a 3" model when around the house and increases to a 4" version when hiking since it will be used for food preparation and making kindling for campfires. The knife companies are small businesses that generally support RKBA, so they deserve a bit of our consumer dollars every now and again!

I've got Leatherman tools in every 'Go Kit', each one has a separate 3" blade in there, too.
There's also a small folder in the glove box of each car.
I'm like you. I can't believe that people don't carry a small knife everywhere they go.

Just keep in mind that Tim Leatherman of Leatherman Tool Group was a Kerry supporter in the last presidential election according to the hyperlinked FR thread attached. No sense in replacing serviceable tools now, but you might want to consider SOG or Gerber products for future purchases.
