Unsettled science: Scientists find hard evidence that cosmic rays influence climate
American Thinker ^ | 5 Jul, 2019 | Thomas Lifson

he absurdity of the claim that global warming is “settled science” is obvious to anyone who understands what actual science is. And now, thanks to a group of scientists at Kobe University in Japan, we have an example of why climate science is so primitive as to be a faulty basis for policy. The have hard evidence of the effect cosmic rays have on earth’s climate.

When galactic cosmic rays increased during the Earth’s last geomagnetic reversal transition 780,000 years ago, the umbrella effect of low-cloud cover led to high atmospheric pressure in Siberia, causing the East Asian winter monsoon to become stronger. This is evidence that galactic cosmic rays influence changes in the Earth’s climate. The findings were made by a research team led by Professor Masayuki Hyodo (Research Center for Inland Seas, Kobe University) and published on June 28 in the online edition of Scientific Reports.

It’s the Sun, stupid.

All heat on earth comes from the Sun.
Any variation of output will affect earth’s climate as has been the case for millions of years.

The previous Ice Ages were not caused by SUVs.

When the sun has a strong magnetic field, indicates by increased sun spot activity, the magnetic field deflects the charged cosmic rays before they reach earth. Less ionized gas in our atmosphere means less sites for ice crystals to form and less clouds. The max sunspot cycle is usually warmer.

When the sun spot cycle is at a minimum, more cosmic ray particles strike our atmosphere and the resulting clouds reflect sunlight causing cooler temperatures.

Some more confirmation that Dr Henrik Svensmark author of “The Chilling Stars: A Cosmic View Of Climate Change” and his research group are on the right track!

Um, this has been known to real physicist (me included) for literally over a decade. You can check my posting history to verify. I have been posting this since I’ve been here.

We also know man-made global warming is bad science aka a fraud aka a political power play. Sigh.

“Cosmic rays means “the sun”.

Actually, cosmic rays originate outside our solar system

The Obligatory post for this topic.....

OK!! Everybody pay attention!
Lesson for today:
1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.
2. The sun is a giant nuclear furnace that controls the climates of all its planets.
3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.
4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.
5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.
Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

“Actually, cosmic rays originate outside our solar system.”

Okay. I’d love to see the percentage breakdown between solar rays and cosmic rays that strike earth. I’m willing to bet that the vast majority of rays which hit Earth originate from our sun.

Lol.. “scientists” finally admitting to an infinitesimal amount of truth that a 4 year old can understand.
All of our best scientific studies are behind us. Those guys were amazing.. today’s science prostitutes are just in it for money and submit to the globalists.

Some European scientists took this information tot eh UN years ago (more than a decade probably), thinking they would be applauded and appreciated (scientists are totally unaware of the political climate we are in).

Much to their dismay the UN and other governments dismissed out of hand their research, ridiculed them and sent them packing with their tail between their legs; totally bewildered.

Never heard from them again.

Nice to see this surface again. Maybe this revelation will see the light of day this time.

By the way, I felt so sorry for those guys (they were Norwegian and Swiss I think). They just could not believe a governing body that purports to exist for the benefit of all mankind would dismiss this out of hand.

Cosmic rays are not of solar origin. Cosmic rays have long been suspected of influencing cloud formation, but their effect on climate stability has not been established.

Variability in solar output does not appear to be a major factor.

Milankovich cycles, related to the shape of the earth’s orbit, phasing between the vernal equinox and soltices, and variations in obliquity seem to be directly and strongly related to ice ages.

Current century-length variations do not have any simple and widely accepted explanation, nor is it even clear that we are in an anomalously warm period. Cosmic rays may be the cause, as may increases in carbon dioxide. Regardless, it is not settled science.

Umm, cosmic rays and solar rays are not the same thing. Cosmic rays are high energy radiation and energy spewed out by things like pulsars, supernova, black holes and all the stars with various events from the 300,000,000,000 stars in our galaxy and galactic core and also the few hundred billion other galaxies (that we can see). Its not just sunlight. For example, you have a few billion neutrinos from the other side of the galaxy zipping right through your body as if it wasn’t there, every second of every day. Our earths magnetic field protects us from our suns charged particles. But it takes the suns magnetic field to deflect these super energetic interstellar particles

“Cosmic rays are not of solar origin.”

Understood. But to my limited understanding cosmic rays can very wildly in intensity. A ray from a pulsar striking earth directly would have much greater effects on our climate than “background” cosmic rays. Is my understanding correct?

“Milankovich cycles, related to the shape of the earth’s orbit, phasing between the vernal equinox and soltices, and variations in obliquity seem to be directly and strongly related to ice ages.”

The orbit of the Earth isn’t perfectly circular so that would seem to me, a complete layman, logical.

“Current century-length variations do not have any simple and widely accepted explanation,”

I don’t see how they could. It seems to me that 100 years is much too short a time frame from which to draw any meaningful conclusions. But what the hell do I know. I’m just some guy on FR.

Enjoy your day.

I believe the sun is thermonuclear.
