"You can look at the climate as fractals, that is, patterns or structures that repeat in smaller and smaller versions indefinitely. If you are talking about 100-year storms, are there then 100 years between them? -- Or do you suddenly find that there are three such storms over a short timespan? If you are talking about very hot summers, do they happen every tenth year or every fifth year? How large are the normal variations? -- We have now investigated this," explains Peter Ditlevsen, Associate Professor of Climate Physics at the Niels Bohr Institute at the University of Copenhagen. The research was done in collaboration with Zhi-Gang Shao from South China University, Guangzhou in Kina.
"The differences we find between the two climate states also suggest that if we shift the system too much, we could enter a different system, which could lead to greater fluctuations. We have to go very far back into the geological history of the Earth to find a climate that is as warm as what we are heading towards. Even though we do not know the climate variations in detail so far back, we know that there were abrupt climate shifts in the warm climate back then," points out Peter Ditlevsen.

What are they talking about? The Earth has been on a cooling trend for around 10,000 years.
"The Earth's axis fluctuates between having a tilt of 22 degrees and 24 degrees and when the tilt is 24 degrees, there is a larger difference between summer and winter and this has an influence on the violent shifts in climate between ice ages and interglacial periods."
We are in an interglacial warming period. These periods between ice ages usually last 20,000 years or less. It has been about 16,000 years since the end of the last ice age.
Climate variations analyzed 5 million years back in time show that the climate can be viewed as fractals, that is, patterns or structures that repeat in smaller and smaller versions indefinitely. The formula is: Fq(s)-sHq.
These people are nuts. When you consider that only .04% of the atmosphere is CO2 and the most that man contributes is 3% of that it becomes like visiting the mind of a lunatic who thinks electromagnetic fields will kill you when we are living on a damn magnet. The same goes with radiation and other bugbears. Its just expensive hypochondria.
LOL Bill Nye the science guy had a kid program on about 15 years ago explaining ice core rings. He totally scammed the projections and if parents were doing their job, would have brought to their kids attention that the rings confirmed the cycle of ice and tropical weather. I personally like the cold. More volcanoes!
Uh, what about the sun?
Oh, no. That means in 4,000 years we’ll have another ice age!
Sounds like we need to crater our economy and institute authoritarian socialism to stop this from happening!
It’s for the children, don’t you know?
“We have to go very far back into the geological history of the Earth to find a climate that is as warm as what we are heading towards.”
He has a crystal ball??? How does he know what we are heading towards? Honestly. They can’t even reliably tell me it will rain in an hour.
No such thing as five million years.
I agree. What we are ‘heading’ for is another Ice Age. If global warming can postpone that, what’s not to like?
Are you a high priest of Last Thursdayism?
They are also selective in this - neglecting the world before the ice ages started.
When the dinosaurs were running around, there was no ice at the poles.
Only after Antarctica separated from South America about 40 million years ago could the water currents circulate around it and cause air currents to circulate there, as well, allowing ice and snow to build up to the levels they are today.
After that point, the warm/cool 100,000 year cycles the Earth has likely had shifted to ice age levels.
We’re as a planet historically well below its normal temperature.
Forgive him, he’s just learning to talk through his hat ...
I have no idea.......but it should be noted, herding pens have been found at the bottom of Lake Huron which at it's deepest depth is approx. 750 feet.........so where did all the water come from that filled up the big hole made by passing glaciers?
Yeah? Then how do you explain Hillary?
Uh-huh. That would be 5,000,000 years ago. Please tell me what you ate for dinner three weeks ago today.
You don’t want to go there. I eat the same thing every Wednesday. Heh.
