Explanation: It is the largest and most sophisticated object ever built off the Earth. It has taken numerous spaceflights and over a decade to construct. The International Space Station (ISS) is currently the premiere habitat for humans in Earth orbit, and an amalgamation of sophisticated orbiting laboratories that have examined everything from the formation of new materials and medicines created in microgravity -- to the limitations of the human body -- to the composition of the universe. This month, the ISS is celebrating 15 years of continuous human habitation. The ISS has been visited by astronauts from 15 countries, so far, and has international partners led by NASA (USA), Roscosmos (Russia), CSA (Canada), JAXA (Japan), and ESA (Europe). The featured animation shows the piece-by-piece construction of the ISS from 1998 to 2011. Spanning the length of a football field, the ISS can be seen as an unusually bright spot drifting slowly overhead by anyone who knows when and where to look.

It is the ONLY object built off the earth. It is the ONLY habitat for humans in space.

And my thumb print is on one of the mounts for the 6 radiators...

They were designed and built at the Lockheed/Grumman plant in Grand Prairie, Tx. The animation does not give a concept of the true size.

Show me a Lib who can say that they have changed the future, like that...

What if the Russians claimed it for themselves, how would we take it back? We can’t get there anymore.

Just a silly “what if” question.

You didn't build that - oh, wait - I guess you did.

It was a fascinating couple of years, up to and including meeting the astronauts who were going to install and deploy the radiators and discussing the hows and wherefores.

It's one reason I have such an overwhelming contempt for Lib Arts majors. In their whole lives, what are they going to do to make life better for the rest of humanity? They are a waste of food, air, water, cloth, leather, building materials. To actually demand that they should not be "offended" is proof that, at best, they deserve only to be expelled, with a huge "S" branded on their forehead, for Stupid...
