He would like opinions/ pro and con. And any clinic recommendations, we live in the panhandle of Florida. Also would be interested in overall cost and healing time.
Bump
He will have to replace it in about 15 years
me too... My dentist wants to screw in some post, then 6 months later pop on a tooth to that post...
Anyone here have that done?
Does it work OK?
had one done 12 years ago, still awesome!
Another thing is sometimes bone grafts may be needed for the implants just depending on your husband’s situation. I also will need an implant(s), soon.
My older brother has 5 implants,he is very satisfied with the results. They all look like natural teeth to me.
I have no personal experience, but know someone who had it done. He is very happy. Healing time was very fast.
I believe it really depends on the overall situation. It may be a situation for a bridge or an implant.
I know implants have been around for a long time. If needed, I would just make sure you have the best in your area do it.

I will be getting a complete set of implants this fall. 40 grand.
Be very careful if it’s a front tooth that you trust the surgeon and it’s going to be done just right. Side teeth are a lot simpler. Make sure there is enough jaw bone for it to take. As mentioned its a couple of procedures over a 6 month or so time period.
Had one done about 6 yrs ago. . .excellent!!
Having another one done now, have the post in the jaw and in a couple of months will have the new tooth.
Can’t wait.
Both implants were due to root canals that went bad over time. . .implants feel so much better. . .they don’t feel at all.
Cost. . .depends, as one cost roughly $4,000 (before insurance), and the most recent one about $4,600 (before insurance).
Simple surgery, no pain and no fuss.
Worth. Every. Dime.
I just completed this process recently. It's fine. The new "tooth" works great. There's a few steps in the process but it's all pretty easy and painless.
If you get it done at a dental school, the price is generally about half-rate, maybe $1,500 for California if done at a school.
They FIRST must establish that he’s a good condidate:
1. Check for gengivitis —does he have inflamed gums. If not, then he has been flossing regularly, doing dental cleanings with a scaler, etc.
2. Does he have good bone density —would the implant site prove sturdy enough to support the implant long-term. They will take an x-ray to confirm.
3. Does he have other problems that might prolong or impede implant success? Like does he need an unrelated root canal, extraction, etc.
Most people around here to go Tijuana for that. Read all the reviews online of various clinics. Doesn’t take long to zero in on the very best ones. My own dentist said the top flight clinics there are the equal of here.
I have the posts in but not the teeth screwed on yet. Was worried about damaging posts in meantime but they are fine. Area was sore and tender for a couple months to preassue but not anymore. The crowns on the posts have been delayed in my case due to getting other dental work that is more time sensitive done first. Looking forward to having it all done maybe around early 2017 when I can use more insurance funds.
kay, lessay they do his initial checks and he’s a good candidate:
They will first screw in a POST and plop on top of that a temp crown.
6 months to a year must pass for OSSIFICATION —this means the bone surrounding the post starts building up and strengthening.
So lessay he’s luck and a good boy and 6 months later he comes back. He does another x-ray and they confirm nice, white matrix has built up around the site, no scary shadows:
That means he’s good to go, and they put the implant in.
So there are TWO steps to this, with a big OSSIFICATION steap in-between.
And for cost control u should check the going rate at the nearest dental school, cuz it’s HALF PRICE and often they have access to the very latest technology.
Dental implant technology has improved VERY VERY much and I believe u want the very best, esp if it’s HALF PRICE.
Please do your research on the doc doing the implanting. I live in Colorado and my mother-in-law had a very bad experience because the doctor implanted one of the screws and it went too deep, pressing on a nerve.
be sure he knows all the expenses first!!!!!
you may be amazed just how frightfully expensive implants can be
