I had it done a few years ago, and it worked like a charm. After the novocaine took effect, I didn't feel a thing. When it wore off, I had a strong anti-inflammatory around for my back problems, and after taking one of those, the throbbing subsided.

The next day, it felt as though I had never been through a major dental procedure.

We put the permanent crown on the post, and I've never had a single problem.

Had one done about five years ago, another last year - old tooth pulled, post with bone graft put in place to heal, six to eight months later cap placed over post - no pain after initial extraction, immediate use after cap put in place - so far both doing fine - about $3k per, part of which for the cap itself was reimbursed by insurance....

I got one about 6 years ago. My tooth couldn’t be saved, so they pulled it and did a titanium post implant, installed a ceramic tooth on it, and it has never given me a second’s problem. It was done in steps over a few weeks. Pricey but painless.

As I recall, mine took 6 weeks; not 6 months. Mine was pricey but painless. It has been trouble-free and fine for the 6 years I’ve had it.

Make sure there's no allergy to nickel.

Is there any potential danger from infection that you know of?

Not sure about that but my oral surgeon said one patient who unknowingly had the implant had to have it removed because of inflammation and it caused major problems. Some hospitals have nickel allergy testing.

Front tooth $4000, Other tooth $2500 for top quality.

Should last your lifetime if you eat well, natural food, and brush.

Implant is absolute last option after cap, root canal, bridge because invasive, but a great option.

Plan your habits so teeth last your lifetime.

My wife has done the four post implant for a complete lower. The cost was $13,000. Next year she will do the upper. Total $26,000. That includes bone grafting. A lot of discomfort with slow healing and a little infection.

My dentist wants to screw in some post, then 6 months later pop on a tooth to that post... Anyone here have that done? Does it work OK?

Just had to do it for our oldest son (19) who had two teeth that never came in.

Yes, it works. Yes, it's not cheap (our cost $8,900 for two teeth including the surgery to put the posts in, have the implants made and put in) but the results? Worth every penny.

He's had to wear a denture since he was 9. He can finally eat without "popping his teeth out."

I live in the Philippines, and dental implants here are relatively cheap compared to US costs. You can fly here, spend time sightseeing, and get the work done and still save $THOUSANDS.Even if you have to come back in a d=few months, it is still cheaper, and the quality is great. I have had lots of dental work living here, and anticipate getting implants soon as I can save up for it!

Here is a short video by an Aussie...

I had a front top tooth implanted about 10 or so years ago... very happy with it. I eat corn on the cob, bite into apples... don’t even thing about it anymore. I wouldn’t say the implant procedure was without pain though and like others, I had to have a bone graft done. After the implant, a Tylenol managed to erase the effects of my encounter with a jackhammer. It healed up quite quickly and I was back to normal very quickly with it then taking a few months to settle in. About the cleaning.... get into the habit of using one of those devices that give a thin jet of high pressure water. One of the better known brands is WaterPik. Everyone should use them anyway for all their teeth(after flossing and brushing) regardless of implants but for those with an implant, it’s important to put a flush of fresh water between the top of the tooth and the gum every day.

That is amazing.....the vast majority of people that I know didn't spend near that on dentures...I don't have them myself but that's FAR more than I would pay for them.
