If you're going to circumvent HOV-lane rules, go interesting or go home. That was apparently the goal of one driver in Fife, Wash., who was pulled over by a trooper Monday afternoon after the officer noticed the guy's passenger seemed a little stiff, KOMO reports. "The trooper immediately recognized it was a prop and not a passenger," fellow trooper Guy Gill tells the New York Daily News. "As the trooper approached, the driver was actually laughing." That's because the serenely smug-looking passenger was a cardboard cutout of "The Most Interesting Man in the World," the Dos Equis mascot portrayed by...

And still the strange and intriguing sightings in photos taken by the Mars Curiosity rover keep coming: This time with the image of what looks like a humanoid figure bracketed by three bold, indented parallel lines. UFO Sightings Hotspot reported Oct. 17 that the NASA's Curiosity rover had inadvertently spied a petroglyph -- or rock engraving -- among the rust-colored stones on the Red Planet. The website noted that what looks like an etching in stone, little more than a stylized stick figure, is nearly identical to hundreds of petroglyphs engraved in columns, slabs, and rocks all over planet...

It died just a few hours after its birthAn ewe sheep in Saudi Arabia gave birth to a sheep with a human face but it died just a few hours after its birth, a newspaper reported on Tuesday. The ewe had given birth to the bizarre baby sheep at a farm in the southern town of Samita after a nine-month pregnancy although such animals normally have average pregnancy period of five months, the Arabic language daily Sabq said. “I was very surprised when this sheep remained pregnant for nine months as humans,” its owner Abu Abdullah said. “I was shocked...

Gobekli Tepe Summary In 1994, almost forty years after The Urantia Book’s 1955 publication, excavations began at the Gobekli Tepe archaeological site in Turkey. The Gobekli Tepe site already reveals 50 engraved stone monoliths, some of them dating back to 12,000 years ago, that are at least 6,000 years older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids. A full excavation to the bottom of the site has not yet occurred, and only a small percentage of the site has been uncovered. The evidence suggests that the complex of round rooms with two especially large pillars in the middle were built for...

Do you believe in ghosts? More to the point, do you believe the ghosts of dead rock stars hang around concerts where their songs are being played? If so, then add Ronnie James Dio to the list of possible apparitions — because according to at least one witness, he popped up (quite literally) at a Last in Line show this weekend. Last in Line is the group featuring ex-Dio guitarist Vivian Campbell, fellow founding Dio members Vinny Appice, Jimmy Bain and Claude Schnell, plus lead singer Andrew Freeman. Together, they perform early Dio material from Campbell’s years with the band....

A New York man who allegedly wanted to kill President Obama and apparently blamed him for the recent Boston bombings has been arrested for trying to build and detonate a weapon of mass destruction. Glendon Scott Crawford, 49, of Galway, N.Y., spent months designing and constructing an X-ray system that would emit deadly amounts of radiation and could be detonated remotely, according to the FBI. Crawford recruited Eric J. Feight, 54, of Hudson, N.Y, to join in the plot, and both were arrested Tuesday, the FBI said. Crawford and Feight allegedly planned to hide their weapon in a truck and...

There are a lot of strange songs out there. But how many strange country songs are there? (By "country" I include "hillbilly," "western," "western swing," and "bluegrass," but not "folk" simply because there are oodles and oodles of bizarre folk songs). For the most part country is the sane, genre, the level-headed genre, the "plain folks" genre. But I've found a country song that is disturbing and bizarre, and I'm sure some of you have found others as well. Many years ago on the old Porter Wagoner TV show I saw Porter perform a song he had written but wished...

Now that disaffected Americans in all 50 states have petitioned the Obama administration for the right to secede from the United States, the door is open for far more important petitions — like a request to have a catered pizza party once Missouri strikes out on its own. (RELATED: White House ‘secede’ petitions reach 675,000 signatures, 50-state participation) Is it funnier that real people actually submitted these ten proposals to the White House, or that the administration has only removed two of them fr0m public view? You tell us. And if you actually sign any of these, you have no...

“Harnessing the awesome power of zombies; it’s not just to run away from anymore.” Democratic candidate Vermin Supreme gives hope that our country’s leaders might just see the future for the rotting, bloodhungry nightmare that it is. He runs on a platform of lessening the demand for foreign oil (among other things) by hitching tireless zombies to giant turbines that will convert shambling into electricity. He promises this will be accomplished by, “Lot’s of zombies… that we’ll sort-of dangle brains in front of…” If, in these unfortunate times, only one candidate acknowledges the coming deademic, then that’s the president for...

The Federal Reserve and Bank of America Initiate a Coup to Dump Billions of Dollars of Losses on the American Taxpayer Bloomberg reports that Bank of America is dumping derivatives onto a subsidiary which is insured by the government – i.e. taxpayers. Yves Smith notes: If you have any doubt that Bank of America is going down, this development should settle it …. Both [professor of economics and law, and former head S&L prosecutor] Bill Black (who I interviewed just now) and I see this as a desperate move by Bank of America’s management, a de facto admission that they...

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico's archaeology institute downplays theories that the ancient Mayas predicted some sort of apocalypse would occur in 2012, but on Thursday it acknowledged that a second reference to the date exists on a carved fragment found at a southern Mexico ruin site. Most experts had cited only one surviving reference to the date in Mayan glyphs, a stone tablet from the Tortuguero site in the Gulf coast state of Tabasco.

A mysterious ice ball has appeared in Milovice forest in the Czech Republic, with some reports suggesting it could be an 'alien' object. The giant hailstone measures an impressive 2m in diameter, according to the Examiner, and a witness was able to take a video of the spectacle to pop up on YouTube. This supposed 'alien' ice block was discovered in the Czech Republic (YouTube) Judging by the shakiness of the film, the witness presumably believes it really could be some form of UFO, a view seemingly supported by the news provider, which received a tip-off about it from...
