The left-leaning Mother Jones magazine's fascinating cover story this month profiles a growing militia-style group on the right called Oath Keepers. The twist is that Oathkeepers are largely active-duty members of the military who are preparing to disobey their Commander-in-Chief. The story features Lee Pray (not his real last name), a private based at Fort Drum: In Pray's estimate, it might not be long (months, perhaps a year) before President Obama finds some pretext—a pandemic, a natural disaster, a terror attack—to impose martial law, ban interstate travel, and begin detaining citizens en masse. One of his fellow Oath Keepers, a...

Eliminate Financial Penalties for Military-Caused Disabilities and Deaths We, members of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) have sent the following letter(s) to our Representatives and Senators: "Please ensure Congress acts this year to ease severe compensation penalties now imposed on military survivors and disabled military retirees. Under current law, thousands of survivors and disabled retirees are forced to fund their own VA benefits by sacrificing DoD payments when a death or disability was caused by military service. This makes no sense. When service caused a disability or death, VA indemnity payments should be added to DoD benefits, not...

Ford built at least 8000 B-24 aircraft in WWII. This a collection of 291 B&W photos from the Henry Ford Museum taken at the old Willow Run Airport and Ford Motor Co. in Detroit. During the war automobile manufacturing was suspended so that GM, Ford, etc., could concentrate on the manufacture of military vehicles and aircraft. Ford Motor Company's assembly line was located adjacent to Willow Run. The government and Boeing company told Henry Ford during the war that he could not build an airplane like a car on an assembly line. He built the freeway to the plant, built...

The Veterans Affairs Department says it will look again at the rejected claims of veterans who say their Gulf War service caused a mysterious illness, the first step toward potentially compensating them nearly two decades after the war ended.

When I first put up ads at my site I said I plan to donate some of the money that I make to worthy causes/organizations. Now that I have passed the threshold and have a check heading my way, I am soliciting suggestions for military charities you consider notable. You know what a good charity is I am hoping you vets will know good military charities; especially the smaller ones that do great work but do not get the attention and really need the money. You can comment with your suggestion(s) here or at the post, you do not need...

2/17/2010 - TACOMA, Wash. (AFNS) -- As a high school senior in 1944, retired Lt. Col. Edward Drummond thought he would do the patriotic thing after he graduated and join the Air Corps. He was young, enthusiastic and wanted to be a fighter pilot. He was also black. He read about the 332nd Fighter Group in the black newspapers that served his hometown of Philadelphia. The 332nd was the first combat group of black pilots to fly in World War II and he wanted to be like them. He completed the physical tests, the mental evaluations and the dexterity exams....

California woman visits, donates to VA centers A California woman is having her picture taken while wearing sexy outfits from the 1940s and ’50s to help U.S. servicemembers and to pay homage to her late grandfather. In 2007, Gina Elise, 27, began posing for her “Pin-Ups for Vets” calendars and “Kiss a Vet” T-shirts, then sending them to military veterans and wounded and deployed servicemembers around the globe. She established a Web site through which donations can be sent to purchase and help finance the World War II-style calendars, thousands of which she has personally delivered to hospital patients across...

This morning at the National Day of Prayer breakfast, our illustrious "Teleprompter in Chief" revealed, once again, his complete unfamiliarity with our military community. Anyone with a reasonable education through the 6th grade knows the correct pronunciation of the basic word "corps" is "core," and therefore the word "corpsman" is pronounced "coreman." The Marine Corps is pronounced Marine Core. Yet our president, who touts his education at both Columbia and Harvard, in describing a US Navy corpsman during his speech this morning, pronounced the word "corpse-man" three separate times. It was posted on You Tube, until it was yanked. Certainly...
