  • A Possible Look At TREEBEARD???

    08/16/2002 2:09:21 PM PDT · by Long Cut · 35 replies · 662+ views
A toy company, "Applause Entertainment", has some pictures on its website of various action figures from the upcoming Lord of the Rings movie, "The Two Towers". One such photo may be of their figure for Treebeard, the old Ent who helps out Merry and Pippin. As such, it also might be VERY close to the way the old tree-herder will look in the movie. Corona's Coming Attractions at http://corona.bc.ca/films/main.html has the story, just go to the link and scroll down to the link "Treebikini"(?). The photo itself MUST be considered a SPOILER and should be viewed only after some thought,...

Ian McKellen says the title of the second Lord Of The Rings film will not be changed. An online petition is urging director Peter Jackson to abandon plans to call the sequel The Two Towers. Some fans wanted it to be renamed following the attacks on the twin towers of the World Trade Centre. But McKellen says: "The notion that the title should be changed in respect to New York City's sensibilities has rightly been resisted." Writing in his online journal at www.mckellen.com, he says the film's US premiere will be in Manhattan and the first European showing will be...

"The Two Towers" are getting some last-minute renovations. Fox News reports that director Peter Jackson has summoned most of the cast of "Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers" back to New Zealand to re-shoot scenes for the film, which finished principal shooting months ago, and was thought to be ready for release. Viggo Mortensen, Elijah Wood, Liv Tyler and Ian McKellen are among those heading back to New Zealand for the additional work. Fox said the rumoured re-shoots will include rejigged combat sequences and new love scenes between Mortensen and Tyler. Jackson filmed all three "Lord Of The Rings"...

In the movie industry, just like everywhere else, truth is stranger than fiction. Take, for example, Kevin Klerck's online petition: "Rename 'The Two Towers' to Something Less Offensive." Klerck put the petition online after there was a minor groundswell of disapproval over the "Two Towers" title because it brings to mind the 9/11 tragedy, when the World Trade Center twin towers fell. The online petition is a satirical open letter to filmmaker Peter Jackson and distributor New Line Cinema, which reads in full: "Those of us who have seen 'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring' know...
