Bill Clinton pardoned his own brother for felony distribution of cocaine. And a key witness in the Whitewater scandal for which he and Hillary Clinton were under investigation. And three others convicted in independent counsel Ken Starr’s probe. And Marc Rich, in what was a straight up political payoff. And his CIA director. And his HUD secretary. And eight people convicted in an investigation of his Agriculture Department. No surprise there: The Clintons and their supporters then, like Trump and his supporters now, regarded the special-prosecutor probes into the administration as witch hunts. Clinton also commuted the sentences of convicted...

Former special counsel Robert Mueller, in a very rare move, has written an op-ed for The Washington Post defending his office's prosecution of Roger Stone and saying he is still a convicted felon and "rightly so" in light of President Donald Trump's commutation of Stone.

President Donald Trump commuted the prison sentence of his longtime friend and political adviser Roger Stone on Friday, days before Stone was required to begin his 40-month prison term for lying to Congress about the Trump campaign's ties to WikiLeaks. The extraordinary act of clemency was announced by White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany. She released a lengthy statement that was littered with lies and false claims about the Russia investigation, special counsel Robert Mueller and the details of Stone's legal case.... Here's a breakdown of 12 baseless claims from the White House statement..... There is no proof whatsoever that...

GOP Sen. Mitt Romney (Utah) on Saturday sharply condemned President Trump's commutation for longtime ally and political confidant Roger Stone, labeling it "historic corruption." "Unprecedented, historic corruption: an American president commutes the sentence of a person convicted by a jury of lying to shield that very president," Romney tweeted Saturday morning.Romney, a vocal Trump critic, was one of the first Republican lawmakers to weigh in on the president's commutation for Stone, who was sentenced to more than three years in prison before the commutation. Stone was convicted last year of lying to Congress, witness tampering and obstruction of official proceeding....

Facebook said Wednesday that it removed a network of more than 100 pages and accounts associated with former Trump adviser Roger Stone after determining that they engaged in "coordinated inauthentic behavior" focused on audiences in the U.S. Nathaniel Gleicher, Facebook's head of security policy, said in a blog post that the network attempted to deceive the platform's users on issues related to local politics in Florida, Stone, and hacked materials released by Wikileaks ahead of the 2016 presidential election. People behind the activity used fake accounts to pose as Florida residents and to make it appear that the content was...

Roger Stone is asking a federal appeals court to delay the date when he has to report to prison to begin serving his 40-month sentence. A federal judge last week granted him a short delay, to July 14 after Stone cited coronavirus concerns. But late Monday Stone’s lawyers asked the D.C. Court of Appeals to delay his reporting date to Sept. 3. “He is at considerable risk from serious health consequences, including death, if his surrender date is not extended,” Stone’s motion says. The judge “failed to give adequate deference to the government’s uniform policy not to oppose surrender date...

President Trump on Thursday tweeted that Roger Stone can "sleep well at night" in response to a tweet from conservative activist Charlie Kirk that called for a pardon of the political operative, who is set to begin a prison term soon. The tweet is sure to ramp up talk that Trump intends to pardon Stone, who was convicted of lying to Congress, witness tampering and obstructing a proceeding. He is set to report to prison by June 30. Stone was charged in former special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation and was sentenced to 40 months in prison in February. Kirk said...

With Attorney General William Barr now firmly in charge at the Justice Department, the steady unraveling of the coup plot against President Donald J. Trump by the Obama-Clinton junta raises the real possibility that a number of its culprits will face prosecution. The pushback from Democrats and their allies is the false claim that Attorney General Barr “interfered” in the sentencing recommendations of the “non-political career line prosecutors” in my case as well as recommending the dismissal of the thoroughly corrupted case against Gen. Michael Flynn. Now that I am ungagged, I can outline why this charge against the Attorney...

@RepMattGaetz Roger Stone should not spend one day in jail. He is disproportionately carrying the burden of the fake, corrupt Mueller investigation. I discuss more in today's "Hot Takes with Matt Gaetz" episode. LISTEN NOW

Federal prosecutors are examining emails between Dr. Vladimir “Zev” Zelenko — a Hasidic doctor touting the controversial drug hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for Covid-19 — and a right-wing political commentator, the Washington Post reported. Zelenko is currently collaborating with Jerome Corsi, a commentator best known for propagating the falsehood that President Barack Obama was born outside the U.S., on a website that connects people with doctors. Zelenko is listed as a “medical adviser” on the site. Zelenko has become a frequent presence on conservative media, from Fox News to Donald Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani’s podcast (the two speak almost daily,...

* * * SNIP * * * If you're upset about the theft of classified documents from the U.S. government -- and there is reason to be -- we already know who did that. A 22- year-old Army private named Bradley Manning, now called Chelsea Manning. In 2013, Manning pleaded guilty to stealing secret material and got 35 years in prison for it. Shortly after that, President Obama commuted Manning's sentence. This allowed Manning to leave jail decades early, go back on television as a commentator, and then run for political office. So if your real concern is America's national...

The documents, which were FBI affidavits, were released following a lawsuit brought by several media outlets FBI documents made public Tuesday, show that Roger Stone, shortly after the Mueller Russia collusion investigation began, communicated to Julian Assange, telling the Wikileaks founder that he would step in if prosecutors came after Assange. “I will bring down the entire house of cards,” wrote Stone to Assange in a private Twitter message. “As a journalist it doesn’t matter where you get information only that it is accurate and authentic,” Stone told Assange in a message from the summer of 2017. “Between CIA and...

Longtime Trump ally Roger Stone gave an explosive interview to the Sara Carter Show Monday, revealing that Special Counsel Prosecutor Jeannie Rhee had tried to pressure him on the contents of 29 phone conversations he shared with his good friend President Donald Trump during Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. He told this reporter that he refused to lie to the FBI and Special Counsel prosecutors against his friend and in the end that’s why the prosecutors brought erroneous charges against him that had nothing to do with their now-debunked Russia probe. Stone, who is supposed to begin his 3-year jail...

Oval Office2:42 P.M. ESTPRESIDENT TRUMP: Well, thank you very much. It’s great to be with the President of Ecuador — and it’s one of the most beautiful countries in the world — and perhaps equally as important, and maybe even more importantly, your great First Lady. Thank you very much for being here. This is a tremendous honor. Some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world and one of the most beautiful places on Earth, they say. I’ve heard that for a long time. And we are working on trade deals, we’re working on military options, including the purchase of...

Fox News analyst Judge Napolitano vented his frustration about Monday's "secret" hearing in the Roger Stone trial, claiming the presiding judge is biased against President Trump's associate. Napolitano blasted Attorney General William Barr for allowing D.C. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson to place a gag rule on Stone and hold a brief with regard to allegations that a juror and the judge herself were biased against Stone from the outset of the trial. "No one should be happy about secrecy whether you like Stone or dislike him — whether you like the president or you dislike him," said Napolitano...

Joint Base Andrews, Maryland 1:41 P.M. EST THE PRESIDENT: Hello, everybody. It’s a little windy out here, so I’ll button up my coat. You have a couple of more people who want to join you. Q So we’re hearing you’re going to commute the sentence of Blagojevich? THE PRESIDENT: Yes, we have commuted the sentence of Rod Blagojevich. He served eight years in jail. That’s a long time. And I watched his wife on television. I don’t know him very well. I’ve met him a couple of times. He was on, for a short while, on “The Apprentice,” years ago....
