Stefan Halper was paid a total of $411,575 in 2016 and 2017 for work with the US government including spying on the Trump campaign.

But Trump and his backers are wrong about what it means that the FBI reportedly was using a confidential source to gather information early in its investigation of possible campaign ties to Russia.
