Robert Redford and George Soros surely make one of the oddest couples in American pop culture. For most of us, Redford’s all-American good looks evoke images of the dashing outlaw Harry Longabaugh, better known as the Sundance Kid. By contrast, Soros’ gaunt visage, thousand-yard stare, thick Central European accent, levitating gray hair and megalomaniacal pronouncements weirdly echo those of the “Dr. Strangelove” character in Stanley Kubrick’s 1964 Cold War classic. The differences between these two men are only skin deep, however. Both owe allegiance to the far left. And both work quietly, in a sinister partnership, to flood U.S. media...

"Whoops!" Just weeks after claiming she would reshape her faltering radio program to focus on a New York City audience, Whoopi Goldberg has now been cancelled even there. According to press and trade reports today, Wake Up With Whoopi was yanked from WKTU-FM today without warning, other than a brief note sent to staffers mere hours before the change. Poor ratings were cited by the station.Recently, after similar results led to terminations in Chicago and Philly, your Radio Equalizer speculated that Whoopi’s radio days appeared numbered. Now, one can easily expect the syndicated program to be shut down, perhaps in...

Hanoi Jane Fonda looking through anti-aircraft gunsights used to shoot down US pilots Jane Fonda, the darling of the looney left, turned 70 today. Rad-libs are offering their tributes. For example, Rosie O'Donnell wrote the following wonderful poem: oh what a night truly it was somehow what i thought show biz would b and look in the end it turns out it is my loud off key voice is too close to the flip when bonnie sings who knew jane fonda 70 and fantastic i love her so As loyal Americans and creative conservatives, we can do better than that....

On the remote chance that Jane Fonda didn't realize how loved she is, her private 70th birthday celebration at the Biltmore in Midtown Thursday night served as a testament to the significant place she holds in the hearts of friends, family and even a certain ex-hubby. Poets, politicos, playwrights, fellow Oscar winners, stepchildren, co-stars and TV execs all flew in for the celebration, an unprecedented $2.4 million fund-raiser for Fonda's Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention.

I chose this HUffington Post THREAD to DUFU today for two reasons. First of all the title, "Derek Shearer's Lips Meet Hillary's Bottom," absolutely cracks me up. I mean the authors, Jerry and Joe Long aren't a couple of anonymous posters. They are official bloggers at the HUffington Post which makes it even FUnnier. The other reason why I am DUFUing this thread is that I want everybody to get up to speed on the fraud known as Derek Shearer. As pointed out in a terrific NewsBusters STORY yesterday, far from being a mainstream establishment type that Shearer makes...

Hey folks, My kids in grade school are getting hit with global warming, including viewing Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" movie. Can anyone offer some very concise info from a source that won't get too-quickly-dismissed-out-of-hand? The teacher is convinced man-made global warming is a fact, backed by "scientific consensus". Again, this is for grade school, so KISS please! Thanks, -- Joe

Heather Mills Launches Pro-Vegan Campaign With Racy Ads Monday , November 19, 2007 Substitute rat's milk for cow's milk and you will help save the world. At least, that’s what Heather Mills believes. The 39-year-old former model turned activist turned estranged wife of Paul McCartney launched a pro-vegan campaign Monday in Hyde Park, in England. Animal charity Viva! features Mills on two huge traffic-stopping billboards and a series of ads that advocate the reduced consumption of dairy and livestock. "The startling truth is that animals farmed for meat and dairy are now one of the greatest threats to the planet,”...

TUUSULA, Finland (AP) - An 18-year-old student opened fire in a Finnish high school Wednesday, killing seven students and the principal before turning the gun on himself, police said. The teenager, who was not identified, shot himself in the head but survived and was taken to a hospital in ``extremely critical condition,'' police spokesman Tero Haapala said. The attack at Jokela High School in Tuusula, some 30 miles north of the capital, Helsinki, shocked the Nordic nation, where gun ownership is fairly common by European standards but deadly shootings are rare. ... Police said at a news conference after the...

Context: last Friday, same day as when Gore and the IPCC received the Peace Nobel, the WashPost put out a "Fact Checker" article about the UK decision regarding the showing of AIT in schools. They got a lot of responses, in the blog and in the blogosphere. Because of this, the Fact Checker published a follow-up, and a response from "Team Gore". The links are below; I can't post them due to source restrictions, and to read them in entirety you probably have to register. I'm posting these for information only. There has been a lot of discussion about this,...

While on the House floor, Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA), took the SCHIP debate to a new low. He said, “You don't have money to fund the war or children. But you're going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the President's amusement.†So not only is Stark accusing President Bush of waging a war for "amusement," but he's accusing American troops of "blowing up innocent people." Pete Stark should apologize immediately to our troops, and President...

This Sunday there will be a town hall regarding the Iraq war. It is being led by far Left/Marxist Assembly Leader Karen Bass. Let's all get out there so that the truth is known, not the propoganda of these folks. Stand up for the troops and freedom! California Assembly Leader Karen Bass is a devout Marxist who believes in same sex marriage, that their should be no private property and the deletion of the 2nd Amendment. She was a radical leader of the Communist Venceramos Brigades who gathered up disenfranchised and vulnerable youth and took them to Cuba to support...

Countries throughout the world should embrace globalization and explore new ideas on how to overcome challenges including security, poverty and environmental damage, Mikhail Gorbachev told more than 1,000 people at the University of Texas-Pan American on Tuesday. “Everything will hinge on how we use globalization,” he said through an interpreter. The Nobel laureate and former Soviet leader’s speech began the university’s Distinguished Speakers series for the 2007-08 school year. Gorbachev, who led the Soviet Union from 1985 until its collapse in 1991, has visited various places throughout the United States in the past couple of weeks, including New Orleans, where...

On This Day In History - October 9, 1967 Professional revolutionary "Che" Guevara is executed in Bolivia Ernesto Guevara de la Serna, better known to the world as "Che" Guevara, is executed by Bolivian armed forces on this day in 1967. Born in Argentina, Guevara was a professional revolutionary who became involved in the Guatemalan revolution of the 1950s. It was during this time that he discovered Marxism and became a fervent convert to the philosophy. Following the overthrow of the Guatemalan government by a U.S.-sponsored coup in 1954, Guevara traveled to Mexico where he joined up with Cuban revolutionary...

October 05, 2007 Neo-Cons and Neo-CommiesJames Lewis Everybody talks about the evil Neo-Cons, but nobody talks about the resurgent Neo-Commies. "Communist" has been expelled from the Politically Correct lexicon -- which tells us a lot about the Commissars of the PC. They bear the most amazing resemblance to the old Commissars of (deleted) who killed 60-100 million people in the 20th century. (And Kim Jong Il, not to mention Red China, are still doing it....) Mikhail Gorbachev, who should know them when he sees them, recently warned about a "resurgence of Stalinism" in Russia and Eastern Europe. The history of...

Dear Friend, Will you to talk to someone for me? When I'm out on the campaign trail, I love talking to people. The stories they share are inspiring and remind me every day how much Americans are ready for change. But no matter how often I travel -- or how early I wake up -- I can't talk to everybody one-on-one. That's why I need your help. If voters hear from you about why you joined our campaign and why you want change -- that will make the difference on Election Day. Today my campaign is launching a nationwide voter...

Newspapers like to play gotcha games with presidential candidates and their stump speeches. Most of the time, the fact-checking sessions focus on number-juggling on tax proposals and spending policy, and they find plenty of daylight between claims and reality. However, when the Washington Post attempts to fact-check Fred Thompson on historical references, they reveal more of their bias than of Fred's. They try to take apart Fred's claim that Americans "have shed more blood for other people's liberty than any other combination of nations in the history of the world", and manage to completely miss the point: The number of...

It looks as if the media will have to find another pretentious intellectual to refer to as “the conscience of the American theater” (according to The Boston Globe), “the moralist of the American theater” (The New York Times), and, most gratuitously, “the moralist of the past American century” (The Denver Post). In fact, given their track record, elitist intellectuals should probably refrain from using the word “moralist” altogether. Those words were written about Arthur Miller, the playwright who became famous by penning dreary plays about America’s alleged failures. Miller’s pompous liberalism has been forced upon high school and college students...
