Most of the debate between the former shipmates who swear by Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and the group of other swift boat veterans who are attacking his military record focuses on matters that few of us have the experience or the moral standing to judge.

Today the unwashed masses gathered at the Tacoma Dome for a Kool-Aide drinking party AKA a Kerry rally. The line snaked down several blocks and was continuously feeding into the event for about four hours. I wouldn't be honest if I didn't say there were thousands and thousands of Kerry-ites there. All-in-all, there were at the peak about 50+ pro-Bush/anti-Kerry protesters spread out over a couple block area. I arrived in Tacoma around 8:30 AM and never before have I seen so many hard-core lefties in one place as I saw here. Nearly every car I saw as I drove...

Bob Dole Slams Kerry By Andrew L. Jaffee, August 23, 2004 Home Search Forum Terms Nothing has really changed for Democratic hopeful John Kerry, except that real war veterans, like Bob Dole, are questioning the “superficial wounds” and resulting “medals” he received during four (4) months service in Vietnam. Kerry is still flailing, trying to cover up a career punctuated by extreme left-wing politics and flip-flopping by talking to voters about his military service. He squandered his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention by trying to convince Americans that his tour of duty in Vietnam will make him a great commander...

David Horowitz www.frontpagemag.com Sunday, August 15, 2004 I watched John Kerry's debate with John O'Neill on the Cavett show again. Here' s a man who scratched himself and took three purple hearts, who shot a wounded and fleeing teenager in the back and got himself a silver star, who then staged his own "heroic" deeds and filmed them for future campaign footage, who then came back and joined domestic Communists like Tom Hayden and Jane Fonda to stab his own comrades in the back. And here he is on the Dick Cavett show predicting that if America pulled out from...

Is "Tour of Duty," noted historian Doug Brinkley's biography of Sen. John Kerry, a "ton of dooky," as columnist Doug Giles called it? Is "Unfit for Command," put together by 60 decorated Swift Boat veterans critical of Kerry's combat claims, unfit for human consumption? Who knows. John Kerry received three purple hearts. None required hospitalization. The first one required a Band-Aid, and when he asked for a recommendation for a Purple Heart, the doctor refused, so he put in for it himself. I believe that one wound may have been inadvertently self-inflicted. It was considered highly unusual to get three...

Kerry: Bush Lets Groups Do 'Dirty Work' RON FOURNIER Associated Press BOSTON - John Kerry fought back Thursday against campaign allegations that he exaggerated his combat record in Vietnam, accusing President Bush of using a Republican front group "to do his dirty work" and challenging Bush to debate their wartime service records. "Well, if he wants to have a debate about our service in Vietnam, here is my answer: Bring it on," said the Democratic presidential candidate, reviving an old war and campaign slogan amid strong urging from party leaders for him to respond to two-week-old GOP assertions. As Kerry...

A news report posted on another thread indicates that John Kerry was not happy about the reception he received at the VFW convention. He was ticked that his staff said he'd get a warm reception, but instead it was cool, if not downright cold. This photo shows Kerry in what appears to be a fully condescending mode toward his black aide. Kerry's face is grim and stern. His eyebrows are raised and he's wagging that finger at the poor aide, who looks startled. Here's Yahoo's caption: U.S. Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry talks to his campaign trip director Setti Warren...

CNSNews.com) - A member of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has alleged that John Kerry's own report 35 years ago was the basis for the military records that the Washington Post used in an article Thursday seeking to discredit the veteran, Larry Thurlow. At issue is whether Thurlow, Kerry and others were subjected to hostile gunfire on Vietnam's Bay Hap River on March 13, 1969, as military records obtained by the Washington Post indicate. Thurlow currently asserts that there was no gunfire, a contradiction of the military records cited in the Washington Post article. The Post was not able to...

Nightline Daily E-Mail August 19, 2004 TONIGHT'S FOCUS: It sounds like John Kerry has decided that the pushing and criticism have just gone too far. Today he sounded angry as he took President Bush on. He was referring to the campaign ad funded by a Republican group that attacks the veracity of John Kerry's war record. Kerry accused the President of letting others do "his dirty work" and invoked the President's own words "bring it on" to challenge him to a one on one debate on their respective war records. The President has not responded. So what happened to make...

Privately, but no longer quietly, Democrats are beginning to despair. They cannot fathom why their man, John Kerry, cannot seem to fathom how easy it should be to put President Bush away, seize the high ground and take command of the issues of the war on Iraq and the war on terror. They see polls showing that Americans disapprove of the president's handling of Iraq and the war on terror. They see that three years after 9-11, and two years after Bush turned away from al-Qaida and focused on Iraq, al-Qaida has been allowed to get stronger again. So strong...

The greatest frustration of the "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" is the establishment media's reluctance to explore their powerful testimony. Follow running mate John Edwards' advice and spend three minutes with "those men who served with" John Kerry in Vietnam, and you sense the disgust over this absence of dedication. Compounding it all are the escalating personal attacks unrelated to the substance of these first-hand accounts and the vigor displayed in digging into President Bush's service and even the backgrounds of the "Swifties." Indeed, Kerry seems to have predicted this behavior, leaning heavily on his wartime experience despite possible revelations...

(CNSNews.com) - The Kerry-Edwards campaign on Thursday announced it has released a new TV ad to "set the record straight" about Kerry's "heroic and honorable service in Vietnam." In a press release, the Kerry campaign said its new ad come in response to the "false and dishonest attack ad from Republican supporters of President Bush." The reference is to Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a 527 group that recently released an ad saying Kerry lied about his military record. "They're a front for the Bush campaign," Sen. John Kerry said in Boston on Thursday, referring to Swift Boat Veterans for...

ELECTION 2004 Kerry's 'fraudulent' report basis for military records Officer at scene of Bronze Star event insists they didn't receive 'enemy fire' Posted: August 19, 20041:51 p.m. Eastern By Art Moore © 2004 WorldNetDaily.com Responding to a Washington Post article questioning his veracity, a critic of John Kerry's war record insists military records cited in the story are based on a fraudulent after-action report by Kerry himself. The Post reported today that newly obtained military records of Larry Thurlow, who commanded a Navy swift boat alongside Kerry in Vietnam, contradict Thurlow's claim that Kerry was not under enemy fire when he pulled...

Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry has lashed out at a veterans group that accused him of lying about his combat record during the Vietnam War. Speaking to a group of firefighters in Boston, Senator Kerry said he has had enough with attacks from a group known as "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth," which has accused him of lying about his war record. "Thirty years ago, official Navy reports and every person there documented my service in Vietnam and awarded me the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts," said John Kerry. "Thirty years ago this was the plain...

(From April 2004) WASHINGTON - John Kerry has a piece of shrapnel in his left thigh from an injury he suffered in the Vietnam War, his doctor said Friday during a review of 36 pages of the Democratic presidential candidate's military medical records. The records shown briefly to reporters provided a few more details about the wounds that resulted in Kerry's three Purple Hearts and show that he suffered from respiratory ailments, a skin rash and a minor urinary tract infection during his four years in the Navy. Kerry was wounded three times while commanding a swiftboat in Vietnam's Mekong...

BOSTON (AP) - Sen. John Kerry accused President Bush on Thursday of relying on front groups to challenge his record of valor in Vietnam, asserting, "He wants them to do his dirty work." Fighting back, Kerry said if Bush wants to "have a debate about our service in Vietnam, here is my answer: 'Bring it on.'" Bush served stateside in the Texas Air National Guard during the war. "Thirty years ago, official Navy reports documented my service in Vietnam and awarded me the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts," Kerry said in remarks to a firefighters convention....
