Authorities in Atlanta are searching for the gunman who fatally shot a man on Sunday who was trying to help someone with their car at a city gas station where Secoriea Turner suffered a fatal gunshot the previous night. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Christopher Brooks, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police told 11 Alive that Brooks was helping the driver jump his car at around 7:20 p.m. on Sunday. A Chicago man with a long criminal history was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after he was convicted of firing a gun into the open grave of a man murdered just two days prior, authorities said. A 19-year-old man was shot early Saturday morning at the CHOP. Another man is in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center. Seattle police officers arrived to the scene around 2:30 a.m. after reports of gun shots. They said a crowd prevented them from finding a shooting victim. Two San Diego Police Department officers have been placed on paid leave after they shot and wounded a robbery suspect who pointed a gun at one of the officers during a confrontation in downtown Saturday night. The suspect, Hurtado Ibarra, 25, of San Diego, suffered life-threatening injuries. He was hospitalized in an intensive care unit. SEATTLE - Police in Seattle say one person has been wounded in the second shooting in Seattle’s protest zone in less than 48 hours. The shooting happened late Sunday night in the area near Seattle’s downtown area known as CHOP, for “Capitol Hill Occupied Protest.” Police tweeted that one person was at a hospital with a gunshot wound. A hospital spokesperson says the person was in serious condition. A pre-dawn shooting Saturday had left a 19-year-old man dead and another person critically injured. No arrests in that shooting had been made as of Sunday.

Garrett Rolfe, the Atlanta police officer fired after the killing of Rayshard Brooks last week, now faces charges including felony murder, which could potentially lead to the death penalty, a Georgia district attorney announced Wednesday.

The Atlanta officer who fatally shot Rayshard Brooks in the back after the fleeing man pointed a stun gun in his direction will be charged, a prosecutor said Wednesday. Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard made the announcement about officer Garrett Rolfe during a news conference.
