Ross Peters, in Wisconsin, has created a hybrid 3D printed functional cartridge revolver, with metal components. It has been demonstrated on Youtube. The design is an interesting hybrid pepperbox, with rifled barrels. The video gives a good explanation and documentation of this six shot pepperbox. Peters designed the handgun to fire .22 shorts. The barrels for the revolver are made with .22 barrel liner, which is easily available by mail order. One of the reasons to use barrel liner is it is commercially rifled. This meets the requirements for a rifled barrel, to have the firearm classified as a...

The 19th century’s legendary Colt Single Action Army Revolver rides on in the 21st. Why would anyone today want to stake their life on a gun with a 146-year-old design and a 183-year-old lock work design? Well, there are good reasons, such as power and ease of hitting with the best pointing and fastest revolver ever made. I'm talking about Colt’s legendary M1873 Single Action Army .45 revolver. Thanks to Hollywood, it is the most recognizable pistol in the world today and the most intimidating. It doesn’t need Hollywood’s hype, though. This gun can still stand on its own virtues....

Wolfgram said most employees, including some who had never shot a gun, were excited about the company's announcement. Wolfgram said at least two employees initially...

I was cleaning out a client's closet today and noticed a small pistol grip sticking out of a rag. Inside was a small revolver with a folding trigger and a hammer that looked, at first glance, as if it belonged on a percussion cap piece. After a little more looking it became obvious that it was a pinfire revolver. The cylinder is stamped "The Savety American Model 1879". On the right side it's got marks consisting of an "S" inside a circle and what may be an "L". Here's the pics -

The following is an excerpt from an article about Brandon Lee's death that was ruled an accident. Please read and tell me if you think this actually happened. I for one have a herd time believing this could happen. Death[edit] Lee died of a gunshot wound on March 31, 1993, at the filming studio in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 28, after an accidental shooting on set of The Crow.[9] In the scene in which Lee was accidentally shot, Lee's character walks into his apartment and discovers his fiancée being beaten and raped by thugs. Actor Michael Massee's...

The suspect was identified as 53-year-old Cedric Anderson of Riverside. He was the estranged husband of Martinez’s teacher, Karen Elaine Smith, 53, who was also killed in the shooting. Just before 10:30 a.m., Anderson entered the classroom, where there were 15 students, a teacher and two aides, according to San Bernardino Police Department Chief Jarrod Burguan. Without speaking, Anderson opened fire on Smith with a large-caliber revolver. She died at the scene. Anderson then turned the gun on himself, Burguan said. Two students who happened to be standing behind Smith were struck by gunfire, Martinez and a 9-year-old boy.

On October 26, 1881, shots rang out at the O.K. Corral. Within the first 30 seconds of the shootout, three members of the Clanton gang were killed. Men on both sides, including Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday and Billy Clanton, would become legends in part because of what happened in Tombstone, Arizona. They were firing a legendary weapon, too. The Colt Single Action Army held many names over the years. First came its clunky official title, the New Model Army Metallic Cartridge Revolving Pistol. But soon it became known as the Frontier, the Equalizer, the Model P, and most famously,...

In the spring of 1966, riding high on the artistic success of ‘Rubber Soul,’ the Beatles went into the studio to begin crafting what would become their greatest record. It is spring 1966, and the Beatles are ensconced in London’s EMI Studios, where they have embarked upon their latest manipulation of time. The Christmas season just passed had seen the release of the band’s sixth album, Rubber Soul, a game-changer of a disc that wedded American rhythm and blues to English folk music, as if the two genres were meant to go together all along. The Beatles, as the popsmiths-cum-pied...

In the early 1900's French gangsters used a weapon called an Apache Revolver that functioned as a revolver, a knife and brass knuckles. The Apache operates on the principle of a pepperbox revolver using a pinfire cartridge and incorporates a fold-over knuckle duster forming the grip and also a rudimentary foldout, dual-edged knife. Due to the lack of a barrel, the revolver’s effective range is very limited, but since all of its component parts can be folded inward towards the cylinder, it was easily concealable inside a pocket. It was common to leave an empty chamber with no cartridge under...

A friend of mine had a Defensive Gun Use (DGU) a few days ago. He had parked a bike near the front door, cable locked to a metal chair. It is a decent cable lock. The dog started alerting at the door, in the middle of day, during the week. There was no knock or doorbell. My friend keeps odd hours. My friend accessed his house gun, a S&W N frame model 28, that had been converted to .45 ACP. The security door was locked. He opened the inside door with his left hand, the .45 revolver in his...

Mechanical engineering student James Patrick recently uploaded a video to his YouTube channel showing off the fully functional PM522 Washbear .22LR revolver that he designed and 3D printed. With the exception of the firing pin, a few elastic bands that act as springs and the legally required amount of detectable metal, the entire gun including the body and cylinder is completely 3D printed. This is, to my knowledge, the very first functional repeating firearm ever made entirely (This doesn’t count, it has metal barrel inserts) on a desktop 3D printer. The optional 8 barrel revolver needs metal tubing inserts for...

An innovative 3D printed hybrid revolver design is being worked on as tribute to 3D printings first martyr, Yoshito Imura. Imura was arrested for 3D printing some plastic, blank firing guns in Japan. The development would fire from the bottom of the cylinder, as did the original blank firing plastic gun. The new design has hybrid features, including steel chamber sleeves and barrel liner. As seen in this computer image of the developing design, the revolver is meant to be double action; that is, one pull of the trigger will rotate the cylinder, cock the striker, and release it,...
