SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – A 30-year-old COVID-19 patient at a San Antonio hospital has died after reportedly attending a COVID party. Dr. Jane Appleby, Chief Medical Officer at Methodist Hospital, said she’s sharing the ‘heartbreaking story,’ not because she wants to be an alarmist, but because she wants the community to know that the virus is serious and it can spread easily.

Scott Dibble says he's been harassed for the past five months by a man with whom he had an intimate, virtual relationship. Dibble, who is married, said the man sent private photos, videos, and text messages to fellow lawmakers on Friday. CHICAGO (WLS) -- A popular Chicago videographer was shot and killed early Wednesday morning while driving in Chicago's Printer's Row neighborhood. The victim was identified by relatives as 30-year-old Zachary Stoner. He was driving a Jeep in the 700-block of South Clark Street around 1:30 a.m. when another vehicle pulled up alongside him and someone inside opened fire, police said. Two bullet holes shattered the Jeep's windshield.

A 17-year-old Texas high school student was shot and killed while trying to sell marijuana to two suspects on Christmas Eve, police said. The incident took place shortly after 9pm on Sunday when officers with the Irving Police Department responded to a shooting report in the 200 block of Red River Trail. Drug overdose deaths have increased by 33 percent in the past five years across the country, with some states seeing jumps of nearly 200 percent. According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 30 states saw increases in overdose deaths resulting from the abuse of heroin and prescription painkillers, a class of drugs known as opioids. Luciano Ponzetto, 55 — a veterinarian — was hunting with friends in Colle delle Oche near the northwest city of Turin on Saturday when he slipped on ice and plunged into the gorge. The controversial hunter was targeting wild birds at the time, shortly after returning from another hunting trip in Canada.

Opioid deaths continued to surge in 2015, surpassing 30,000 for the first time in recent history, according to CDC data released Thursday. That marks an increase of nearly 5,000 deaths from 2014. Deaths involving powerful synthetic opiates, like fentanyl, rose by nearly 75 percent from 2014 to 2015.
