In October 2006, Louisiana College in Pineville Louisiana will celebrate it’s 100th birthday. When celebration time rolls around, the small Baptist college will have some big celebrities on campus. At a press conference this morning, Louisiana College President Joe Aguillard announced that George Hebert Walker Bush, will be the keynote speaker for the Centennial Celebration. “This is a wonderful opportunity for Louisiana College,” said Aguillard, “We are honored and blessed to have a man of his stature here on campus.” Bush will be on hand for several events including a brief reception for area business and civic leaders. A Pineville Elementary School teacher was arrested Thursday for allegedly committing a battery on a 3-year-old pupil. Amy Sevario, 31, of 1008 Candy Lane, Alexandria, was arrested on a charge of simple battery. Tommy Roque, Rapides Parish assistant superintendent for administration, acknowledged he was aware of the arrest and said the incident is under investigation. In situations similar to this, the teacher typically is placed on leave. However, he declined comment specifically on this incident or teacher.
