The Seattle Bike Brigade, a group of cyclists who have provide security for protesters amid local demonstrations, had blocked off an alleyway near 9th Avenue and Virginia Street. The aim was to protect mostly teenage protesters participating in a march for racial justice last Wednesday, June 10, in downtown. Right-wing extremists are turning cars into weapons, with reports of 50 vehicle-ramming incidents since protests against police violence erupted nationwide in late May. At least 18 are categorized as deliberate attacks; another two dozen are unclear as to motivation or are still under investigation, according to a count released Friday by Ari Weil, a terrorism researcher at the University of Chicago's Chicago Project on Security and Threats. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel continued her criticism of President Trump on Friday, claiming he had “risked the health, safety and welfare” of all Michiganders by removing his mask during a tour of a Ford Motor Co. factory in the state Tuesday. “I will not remain silent and just twiddle my thumbs as I see him do that," Nessel told NPR's "All Things Considered."
