What else ya got? That seems to be the main question voters have for President Obama as he launches his re-election campaign in earnest. Everybody knows what Obama's top priorities were in his first term: enact healthcare reform, beat back the recession, rein in reckless banks better protect consumers. Whether he accomplished those missions is a mixed verdict. Obamacare still faces a key Supreme Court challenge and for the most part won't go into effect until 2014. Obama's stimulus measures helped the economy heal, but fell far short of Obama's own expectations. It's hard to tell if the banks are...

MARSHVILLE, NC (WBTV) - A teen missing for nearly 4 years returned home to Union County Tuesday and told her mother she had been living with her boyfriend in Chicago. The girl, who was 16-years-old when she went missing, did not come home from Forest Hills High School on April 21, 2008, Union County Sheriff's officials said. The girl, Vasti Colmenares Gutierrez, left school after receiving text messages from her boyfriend, deputies said at the time. Everyone was worried that the teen had "met some harm" after leaving the school and many attempts to find her over several months were...

WATERVILLE, Maine — The search for 20-month-old Ayla Reynolds continued on Monday as the Maine Warden Service, state and local police investigators and Federal Bureau of Investigation agents combed the area to find the girl who was last seen Friday in her father’s home on Violette Avenue. The warden service began searching the surface and banks of Messalonskee Stream by plane, boat and foot on Monday, expanding the search area from the weekend, Waterville Police Chief Joseph Massey said during a press conference Monday afternoon. “It was logical considering [the stream’s] proximity to Violette Ave.,” Massey said, adding that the...

The same man who oversaw MF Global’s $1.2 billion in missing funds, Bradley I. Abelow, is also currently listed on the Environmental Protection Agency’s website as the current chairman of the EPA’s Financial Advisory Board. SNIP Mr. Abelow also served as former New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine’s chief of staff before Mr. Corzine went on to become MF Global’s CEO. Interestingly, current EPA Administrator Lisa Smith also previously served as then-Gov. Corzine’s chief of staff. Whether the Corzine connection played any role in Mr. Abelow’s appointment to the chairmanship of the EPA’s Financial Advisory Board is as yet unclear. Mr....

As the first former U.S. senator to be subpoenaed by Congress in more than a century, Jon Corzine testified Thursday about the “last chaotic days” of MF Global, the trading firm that declared bankruptcy under his watch. Corzine said he was “stunned” to learn that the firm could not locate hundreds of millions of dollars in client money in the days before the firm’s collapse, and said he had no idea where the money had gone.

An entire family from Edgewater, Fla., is missing in a case that has local law enforcement puzzled. Karen Burger, 57, along with her daughter, son-in-law and grandson, have not been seen since July of this year, according to police. Burger’s elderly father, Maxwell Lee, initially reported his daughter as missing in August although she had not been seen for nearly a month prior. The case is complicated by Burger’s alleged drug-abuse problem, according to a police bulletin. After authorities began to investigate Burger’s disappearance in the fall, they realized that her daughter, Christina Hilgefort, son-in-law, Allen Hilgefort, and their two-year-old...

Barack Obama’s supporters praised him for having it in his joint-session speech last night on job creation. A national economy needs plenty of it in order to expand. Consumers consider it one of the most pressing economic issues they face. Yet Obama’s speech was curiously absent of any mention of one word … energy. That’s right; you could look it up. There wasn’t one single mention in a speech about jobs and economic stimulation that addressed the need for the energy necessary to support it. Never mind that part of the problem in the economy comes from a blunted demand...

Dutchman goes missing in North Korea Published on 8 August 2011 - 4:14pm Dutchman Willem van der Bijl has gone missing in North Korea, according to a report by a local Dutch TV station. The foreign ministry is apparently aware of the disappearance but can do little, given the closed nature of stalinist North Korea. Van der Bijl runs a stamp shop in Utrecht and has visited North Korea on numerous occasions looking for postage stamps and propaganda artwork. His family have not heard from him for two weeks and are extremely worried.
