Talk about crying over spilled milk. Authorities said an overturned tractor trailer spilled up to 6,000 gallons of milk onto a highway in Mt. Airy, Md., causing hours of delays on Wednesday morning. The incident happened about 6 a.m. on the eastbound side of Interstate 70. Milk spilled and at one point blocked all four lanes on the eastbound side. As of mid-morning, some of the lanes were getting by but traffic was reported to be heavy in the area. No one suffered major injuries.

In this story from Vancover, Washington, a man in a gas mask attempts to rob a convenience store. He has a gun and threatens the clerk. He gets some money and leaves. From katu.come: The employee's friend took out his own firearm and followed the suspect outside, police said. The suspect turned around and pointed his gun at the man, who in turn fired several shots at the suspect. Officials aren't sure if the suspect was hit. What is not said in any story that I have read about the incident, is if the gas-masked suspect dropped the...

On April 23 of this year Michael Brown’s family filed a lawsuit against the City of Ferguson for the wrongful death of their son, Michael Brown Jr. This civil case may not be just another frivolous attempt to gain media attention as is the case with many civil actions these days. I believe this case has a solid foundation and may bring to light some very serious questions concerning the death of Michael Brown at the hands of Ferguson police officer, Darren Wilson. Was implicit bias a factor in Brown’s death? Implicit bias can affect people’s decisions and their behavior...

Langermann’s of Baltimore LLC has filed for bankruptcy after the recent unrest in Baltimore knocked the restaurant’s finances too far out of balance. The Canton restaurant, which opened in the Can Company building in 2009, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on May 20 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland. The restaurant is open and the owner says he has no plans to close it. Dave McGill, a partner in Langermann’s, said the restaurant had struggled with cash flow problems, but the protests, riots and curfew following the death of Freddie Gray exacerbated those issues. The restaurant owes...

Dubbed as “Freedom of Speech Rally Round 2,” a reference to American blogger Pamela Geller’s ‘Draw Muhammad’ cartoon contest in Garland, Texas earlier this month, the event, organized on Facebook, is described as a “response to the recent attack in Texas where 2 armed terrorists with ties to ISIS, attempted to kill a bunch of...

Time to demand full disclosure before every news cast so the public is truly informed who is spoon-feeding them their news for the day Our government has pushed food labeling to the extreme. Demanding that calories, fat, sugar and other ingredients be fully visible to the public in order for them to be able to make informed decisions about the food they eat. But what about informing the public about the news they receive on a daily basis? Does the public deserve the same transparency about their news sources that the government is now demanding from food manufacturers and restaurants?...

IRVINE – The City Council late Tuesday voted 4-1 to repeal the city’s living wage ordinance, which requires some contractors that do business with Irvine to pay its employees a slightly higher rate than the state’s $9 per hour minimum. The ordinance has been in place since 2007 when a 3-2 vote signed into law the requirement that companies that have contracts with the city worth at least $100,000 in a 12-month period pay more per hour.

Bill Nye, who once called himself “the science guy,” took advantage of the torrential rains that hit Houston and the surrounding area to get up on the global warming – aka climate change – hobby horse. Tuesday, he tweeted, “Billion$$ in damage in Texas & Oklahoma. Still no weather-caster may utter the phrase Climate Change.” Of course meteorologists, unlike Nye, have spent their careers studying weather and its underlining causes. For a more scientifically accurate explanation of what caused the storms, read the Houston Chronicle’s excellent and fact based analysis.

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)LINDENHURST, N.Y. (PIX11)– Suffolk County police are investigating a possible hate crime targeting an African-American family in Lindenhurst. Ronica Copes, a resident of the suburban neighborhood, received a letter saying “YOU DON’T BELONG HERE” and other hateful words on Thursday. Understandably so, she was disappointed at the sight of the hateful letter. “Unbelievable but then it’s not…our daily reality, I’ve just never seen it in this form,” Copes posted on Facebook. The writer of the flyer who says “Lidenhurst is 84 percent white” urges Copes in bold capital letters to “LEAVE AS SOON SHE CAN” because “IT WILL BE BETTER...

9:10 a.m. Officials say some protesters angry over the acquittal of a police officer charged in the deaths of two unarmed suspects became violent and turned on bystanders, including some who pepper-sprayed patrons sitting at outdoor cafes downtown. Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams says 71 people were arrested Saturday night after a day of mostly peaceful protests turned more aggressive. Williams said Sunday at a news conference with Mayor Frank Jackson that another protester threw a restaurant sign at a patron, striking him in the head. He says bystanders were also accosted in at least one other instance....

Unilever plans to move production of vegetable oil and margarine spreads from Baltimore to Kansas beginning at the end of the month, shutting its Baltimore plant and laying off 137 workers. The consumer goods giant plans to shift operations from its Southwest Avenue factory to Olathe, Kansas, where it performs similar work and embarked on a $152.5 million expansion in 2013. Unilever informed Maryland regulators of the layoffs, which begin this month, in a notice last month, as required by the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. The plant is slated to close by the end of September. The Southwest...

I am a citizen in Congressman Dave Brat’s District 7, and I am not alone in being extremely proud of him for speaking out on the danger of ISIS and Dave’s seeking to make all citizens aware of the danger of ISIS recruits joining our military. I can scarcely believe that voices have been raised in denial of this threat, when as a Nation we were horrified when one of our own, a Major in the US Army, screamed “Allahu Akbar” and began mowing down his fellow unarmed soldiers, filling the Fort Hood mortuary. Perhaps you have forgotten when Army...

SOUTHERN SHUNEH, Jordan - A $100 billion city-from-scratch in Saudi Arabia is to be completed by 2035 and will serve as the main logistics and manufacturing hub for countries on the Red Sea, the world's "largest new emerging market," said the CEO of the company in charge of the mega-project. The business model of an entire city being built by the private sector was so unusual that it required adjustments in the beginning, said Fahd al-Rasheed, the Group CEO of Emaar Economic City (EEC), which is building the King Abdullah Economic City. "Putting that first phase together is the most...

Reflections on the "minimum wage hike" protests today at McDonald's Oak Brook headquarters... On a cool May morning, as McDonalds’ shareholders met to determine the fast food giant’s future course, some 2000 protesters, hailing from as far as Kansas City and New York, descended upon them to present a list of demands. Raise the starting wage to $15/hour, they threatened, lest the company be forever branded with such monikers as Exploiter, Villain, Robber Baron and Tyrant! The Chicago Tribune, newspaper of record in the blighted metro area that McDonald’s calls home, was happy to give front page coverage to these...

So this Waco thing has caught my interest, mostly because of all the dumb things being said about it. I’m no expert and have no direct connection to the Waco Biker shootout, nor do I have access to anything more than media reports. However, based on my experience as a patrolman, assistant active shooter instructor and soldier I’ve made a few observations and educated guesses about what happened. 1) I predict we’ll soon learn most or all of the dead bikers were shot by police officers I base this on a couple things, but the biggest one is a...
